Not understanding the hatred......

Personally, I find the show quite good. I do have a few issues, however. Forest Whitaker is a wonderful actor, but not as a lead rolein a television series. He's extremely distracting - and it's notbecause of the eye. It's his voice. He constantly sounds like he's outof breath...ran a marathon to get to the scene. His sentence structureis also annoying. He pauses in odd places and the whole dialog soundsforced. I was excited when I heard he was going to be on the show, butnow...he's just annoying! There's too much time spent on him and notthe rest of the team, which doesn't make a balanced show. I realizeit's early though, so hopefully, the characters will flesh out more aswe go along.Secondly, Janeane Garofalo - I don't understand the hatred of the womanand the character. I personally love her. I think she's still trying tofind her feet with the character, but she's got the potential of beingquite amusing...of being the one person on the team who will just sayexactly what she thinks when she thinks it. I really like her and I'mwilling to give her a chance to settle in the role.As for the rest of the team, I like all of them. I'd like to see moreabout Prophet's past - Michael Kelly makes Prophet such a quiet, interesting character. Beau Garret is perfect for the role of Gina -she's got that no nonsense look about her - hair stuffed in a ponytail, little makeup. She really sells Gina as the real deal. And lastly, Matt Ryan as Mick Rawson. At first, I was put off because aBrit joining the FBI seemed like something created just for the show. Iadmit my ignorance in this matter - I didn't even know British citizenscould join the FBI...although maybe he's a naturalized citizen. I don'tknow, but I have to say I really, really, really like the character. He's cocky, cheeky and interesting. He's also gorgeous, which doesn'thurt. His accent isn't hard for me to understand, but I've heard lotsof Irish, Scottish and British. So, Mick is a nice all around packagefor me.Poor Garcia...she just seems like a fill in...she's there so theviewers have someone they know and love and the producers knew thatthose fans will follow her to a new show. I'd like to see her actuallyinteract with the team, not just via communication equipment. So, I give the show an 7 out of 10 and hope that it just keeps gettingbetter and better. Thanks for listening!!Frost

Not a "true" criminal minds

I was very disappointed with the first episode of this show and itseems this will be what show is about, a lesser version of trueCriminal Minds. Not a single character of this show is convincing, Forrest Whitaker hasseen far better roles then this one, as a team leader he is weak, notall too likable. Basically, this show is a copy of the real CriminalMinds, only far, far worse, actually it can't stand in the samesentence with the original show. Matt Ryan character, for example, youbasically couldn't understand what the guy is saying. In all honesty, I would be very surprised if this show survives thefirst season, it just isn't worth it.

Janeane Garofalo -- drop her from the team

I was so excited when the viewers were first introduced to this newteam last season on Criminal Minds, one of my favorite shows. Then thisyear Janeane Garofalo was added to the cast. She does NOTHING butdistract. She seems to have a bigger part than the other three teammembers, except for Forest. Her acting ability is poor to bad. Hercharacter seems to have an ax to grind. Adding her to the mix has upsetthe balance of the team. What was the casting director thinking?Putting in someone who is such a poor actress and a high politicalactivist in this part? My husband and I are serious considering that isis time to stop watching CM: Suspect Behavior.

Suspect Behavior, a new psychological technique of how to catch criminals.Great!

I love Suspect Behavior. Something new we can see the magnificent workof Forest Whitaker, making an excellent drama. Under the role of SamCooper, shows an amazing ability of how he can think like the criminalsin the homicide to discover every step through their peacefulpsychology. The actors around Cooper have the exact attitude tocomplement the good team. Janeane Garofalo "Beth Griffith" and BeauGarrett "Gina LaSalle" have an attitude a bit like Cooper, butsometimes not so peacefully, help as complementary. Matt Ryan, "MickRawson" and Michael Kelly "Prophet", with its experience can discovermany things along the way. Kirsten Vangsness' Penelope Garcia "alwaysgood mischief as Criminal Minds. This is a very good series where weshow another of the surprising ways of how criminals can be arrested.- This commentary was written by a Latino which his English may not bequite perfect.

Not so much of a "Criminal Minds"

I am a huge fan of the original show 'Criminal Minds'. I am drawn tothat show because its not like any other FBI shows out there (and thereare a lot of FBI shows out there), its different and it breaks thenorm. What I felt for that show is not at all what I feel for CriminalMinds: Suspect Behavior. The show tries to appeal to its audiences with its funkiness. Maybe asany other FBI show but under the banner of Criminal Minds this showfails completely. There is no "criminal mind' about it. There is nogoing inside the offenders' head reveling their dark behaviors, theshow does not get inside the head of criminals and show the audiencetheir side of the story which is after all what the show is supposed tobe. We do not see the agents digging deep inside the psychopathic mindsof the criminals in order to figure out their next behavior. All in all, I am disappointed.

A poor imitation of the original

Forest Whitaker needs to either sober up or get some speech therapy sowe can understand what he says. If it weren't for captioning, hisdialog would be almost unintelligible. His speech reminds me of formerD.C. Mayor Marion Barry. As with the original Criminal Minds, the"unsubs" are becoming more and more brutal and sadistic. This isabsolutely NOT a program for minors, or the faint of heart. Also aswith the original, we usually don't find out the eventual fate ofunsubs who are captured alive. We're left to speculate whether they goto prison, a mental hospital, or if some slimy lawyer gets themreleased on a technicality.

Quite a letdown.

I watched this first episode with some hopeful anticipation. The storywas stereotypical of this type of show....a kidnapped child, a pervertand the "heros". We have seen this plot so many times on Law and Orderspin-offs and the ending was also to be expected. In case anyone hasn'twatched it yet, I will not reveal the ending. I was reallydisappointed. This spin-off doesn't have the pizazz of the original. While Forest Whittaker is an excellent actor - this part isn't for him.In fact the entire cast was pretty bad. Apart from Penelope, they don'tseem to have the professionalism, intelligence or looks that theircounterparts do in Criminal Minds. I hate to be so negative, but theirappearance, clothing, speaking style etc.....just doesn't work. AnEnglish accent is totally out of character for the FBI. Iwill not watchit again. It was indeed a flop.

Why Have Hamburger When You Can Have Steak at 9:00pm

The show does not cut it. I have watched it a few times and found itboring. The original is the best. From what I understand there are somecontract negotiations going on with the original and I hope nothingchanges. TV is getting pretty bad and I would hate to lose my favorite show tostuff like this. The thing that I have noticed is a lot of the seriesnow are pushing more action. I have even noticed that it is being putinto the series that are more cerebral like the original CSI. Anothershow I stopped watching. I like Forrest Whitaker, but am not impressedwith the rest of the cast.

Not so GOOD.

When I started to watch the "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior"I felt itmight be good or better than the "Criminal Minds" but it sucks. ForestWhitaker acting sucks. Its easily guess able that who the suspect mightbe. Also the at the end we feel like it's been completed in a hurry upmanner. For instance the episode "The.Time.Is.Now" was just shown thatthe convict went to victim's house and completed just like that. In thenext episode "Strays" also it was the same."Forest Whitaker" word "talkto me" doesn't make any sense on any part of the episode or it reallymake us irritating. Please try to bring some innovation on to the seriesso that we can watch it.

Luckymole (13 May 2012)

too bad

Feel awful that with talented actors and a good thing going with aproved formula but screw things up with disjointed story lines andhorrible lighting. I tuned in to watch Forest and I can never see hisface or mouth. He is always in the dark. Anybody watching the monitors?JEEZ.As a matter of fact all the actors look like they are sufferingfrom some kind of ailment, they all look very pale and no skin color. Some stories are plausible but writings never hit it mark. Verydifficult to follow when you are trying to follow Forest and his gangammo in catching the killer. Its always entertaining to watch Forestand Janeane they could have used her more

NanoFrog (10 May 2012)

massive plot failure

While the cast is really great, one to really look forward to, thisseries so far is not. The stories are pointlessly dark, the speed atwhich complicated data suddenly appears and all the other elements of agood story are absent. There is also a lot of questionable norms, suchas the FBI being able to storm a private citizen with a swat team onlyto have invaded the wrong person, without apology. I am so interestedin what Whutaker could bring to a detective-agent role, but this is notit. The stories are gratuitously dark and unreasonable. The way inwhich they show these characters behaving is not real, the methods theyuse impossible. Three episodes in, I see no hint of authenticity, character development or story-telling talent. Not only the audience, but the great cast is being really let down by the producers andwriters.

What the H***

Nothing gets under my skin more than when a network cancels a showafter one season. It takes so much time to build up characters, and toestablish a following. The original Criminal Minds didn't even comeinto my radar until the second or third season. I only hope that in thefuture, networks will learn that it might take a little while. I can'tbelieve after all the success of Law and Order and CSI spin-offs, CBSwon't even give this show a chance. I imagine they will at least give aconclusion to the impressive season finale in the original series tosatisfy people like me, but if they don't, it might just end my lovefor CM all together.

kree-zaus (10 May 2012)

Don't look for wit of origonal here

Crimonal Minds is a great show, maybe not so great as of late, what hasbeen great and still has potential, but I don't buy into the whole lawand order effect. That is that not all good shows need a spin off. WhenI started watching this show, I hated it, I couldn't find any of thecharacters that interesting, and the plots seemed to be dumbed downversions of CM episodes in seasons 3, 4, and 5. As it kept going, Ihave grown to like it a bit more, and the characters have become betterdeveloped, but it is still not all that great. One of my peeves is Penelope. I never liked her in the first CMinstallment, she was too bright and flashy, and her character had aboutthe same depth as a ground-level fountain. If you want a big change forthat, you won't get it here, though you might wonder where the hell shehas the time to coordinate between two teams. As for the othercharacters, none really stand out, Prophet is over aggressive and seemsto have a massive chip on his soulder, the British guy is, well,British, The Black haired lady is a bit stuck up and hostile towardseveryone, and Gina just seems to be the insecure blond who knows thatshe really isn't as talented as the rest. Sam Cooper is nothing towrite home about either. The problem isn't that these characters areuninteresting, but that they are essentially clones of CM characters(Black-haired lady could be Hotch, Brit Guy Prentiss and Morgan, Cooperis a bit Gidean and a bit Rossi, and Gina is almost a clone of Seaver),so they took out Reid and called it good. And okay, I didn't reallyexpect much else, which is why I gave it a sevon, same with the L&Ofranchise, they stick to the same characters. As for the plot, while later episodes show some promise, other thenthem being more gritty then most CM episodes, the plots are the same:bad guy commits crime, normally murder, and good guys go after them.Okay. They took out some of the more character-driven plot from theorigonal series, and again, okay, good that they didn't stick to thesame formula. The fact is that the plots alone are just not worthwatching right now, I mean, there is no real difforence between thecaseloads, and really, it just becomes average fare pretty quictly.Yes, some are interesting, but not enough to set the whole show apart. In conclusion, this show is good if you want a Crimonal Minds withoutthe strong character building parts of it, and if you just want a quickfix of bad guy gets cought action. Nothing really sticks out about it,but it is on an upword spike, so who knows. Had I reviewed this afterthe first episode, I would have given it a 2 or 3, so yes, it hasimproved, it just isn't as good as the origonal.

Criminal Minds Suspect Behavior SUCKS

Forest Whitaker is by far the WORST actor in the world. Criminal Mindsis the BEST show on TV and now this spin off is absolutely atrociousnow that Whitaker is in the lead role. The Over Acting is ridiculousand kinda funny at times. What the F**K were they thinking when theycast him in the role. Stay on the big screen and leave the small screenfor the good actors! He makes me laugh though. While CM is supposed tobe a drama, it's comedy night at my house!Lead by example and follow Jason Gideon! Once Forest is gone, the showmight be watchable. It's TOO BAD that they cast him as the lead role. This show is downright RIDICULOUS!

ppiper-979-128270 (08 May 2012)

Dumbed down version of Criminal Minds

Seeing the first episode was really a major disappointment. The Role ofJonathan (Michael Kelly)telegraphs the ending "drama" in such apredictable manner that I nearly have to say this review is a spoiler. It seems like all of the characters lack real emotional commitment andare basic stereotypes. The first episode of this series does not haveeither the layers of complexity or commitment of Criminal minds. Thisseemed to be a "buddy" show. Forest Whitaker can find and play farbetter roles than this. Don't watch it, it's a complete waste of time.Although not all of the character have been properly introduced in thefirst episode it does not appear to have the makings of a good show.

LOVE(d) the Show

We used to LOVE Criminal Minds until they decided to bring on politicalactivist Janeane Garofalo. We loved how each "team" member actuallyloved the others. As though they were family. The always put the otherteam member ahead of themselves. What a great concept that was. It alsotaught us what TO DO and what NOT to do (to stay safe). Valuableinformation for sure. But alas, they brought Janeane on and we had towalk away. I just wish Hollywood would just DO what they're paid to do,ACT. I don't care where they stand on this issue or that issue. But IDO care when they begin airing their racist views to any talking headwho will give them air time. CRIMINAL MINDS. Too bad. It WAS a greatshow !!!

chembrat54-152-128040 (08 May 2012)

I like it

I like it. Not the best show ever made, but certainly isn't the worst. You have to separate it from the original. I appreciate that they triedto tie them together by bringing Garcia in to it, but there's no waythe FBI would have only one tech master so they could have had acompletely different character for that roll, but all in all I like it.I like the cast together and don't feel like I'm "missing" the castfrom the original because I can watch them too. Too bad people couldn'tgive this show a shot as a stand alone from the same family. If you cansee it as a completely different show I think you'll find its just asgood as anything else out there right now. The more episodes I watch, the more I like it, which is unfortunate since its over.

Stian (07 May 2012)

Stop comparing it to Criminal Minds while watching, and it will be okay (but not good)

Most people probably dislike the show because they were expected, basically a Criminal Minds, from this point shortened to CM, clone, andno, that is not what you are getting or should expect. The show have after 3 episodes done a bad job at making you bond withthe characters, it's almost like they expected you to have seen theepisodes of CM where these people appeared, and then assumes that theydon't have to give you a better insight. In difference from CM, these people don't seem to make much of aprofile, they seem more obsessed with finding small hints, that otherhave overseen. Only the main character seems to have some insight inthe minds of the criminals, since he try to place himself in theirshoes, and understand why they did what they did. However it isn't all bad, the criminals are somewhat interesting, aswell as their crimes, and there seem to be a element in the series thathave been poking my mind, but I have yet to put the finger on, whichmight make it better with time as one get used to that element(assuming it exists, and my mind aren't tricking me). Currently thisseems to be all it is living on, but I am willing to give it thebenefit of the doubt(for now), but it really do help to not think of itas an attempt to clone CM, and stop comparing it to CM. Will not recommend it, at least not in it's current form.

pasnthru-850-101794 (06 May 2012)

Disappointing to say the least

I'm not sure why they made this show. There really isn't anything thatI can see to distinguish their purpose from the original. Are therereally red cells in the FBI? Is this sort of Delta Force BAU? A RapidDeployment BAU? Huh? Whitaker has done and can do much better than thejob he does here. At times he seems totally disinterested. At othertimes he just looks like a slob.Garofalo just looks like an angry toad and really can't act.Why is there an Irish (I guess Matt Ryan is Welsh) guy on the team?Hearing the accent is disorienting. I assume there is no reason anaturalized citizen couldn't be in the FBI but it seems out of place.Beau Garrett seems to be largely eye candy - I'm not opposed to thatbut she doesn't seem to have much of a role.I know that it's trying to find it's feet. Whitaker gives the show somehope since he can be quite a good actor but there doesn't seem to muchof a reason for this to exist next to the original.

(05 May 2012)

love it or hate it

A good spin off to criminal minds, however I think Forest Whittakerneeds to stop looking at the camera, his acting in this is not the bestwhich is unusual for him because he is known to be a very good actor. They say people have their own preferences of what they like so this islike hate it or love it TV series and I'm giving it a chance. Criminalminds is not like other crime programmes its about getting into theminds of criminals the original cm has hit 6 seasons and still goingstrong, with this spin off I can see the actors finding their footingfor their characters. Just like all new TV series get past the firstseason, and I really hope Mr Whittaker sorts out his character. Give ita chance and decide for yourselves.
