Truly Awful

A predictable, stereo-typed load of American patriotic turd. So hiswife died, you cant win it all, but that doesn't stop him nailing hisco-worker later on. another perfect example of how American actionthrillers display their ideal American dream achieved by loosingmorals. I honestly don't recommend this for anyone, not children as itsfar to gory and aggressive, not adults because it is so unbelievablymind numbing it makes it amazingly difficult to watch and even harderto enjoy. As for the ending, well what a cop out. By some miracle theyfigure out where a mastermind is, someone they have been following foryears because he makes such obvious mistakes. WHAT A PLOT HOLE! Sounbelievable it actually made me cringe.Really disappointed.

B action thriller but you've seen it all before

There's nothing much wrong with 2010s "Deadly Impact", but there's nothing much right with it either. This type of "mad bomber vs. tough cop" was covered in several films, the best including "Ticker" (2001) with Dennis Hopper as the mad bomber and Steven Segal as his bomb squad nemesis, and "Blown Away" (1994) with Tommy Lee Jones as the mad bomber and Jeff Bridges as his nemesis. So why remake this type of film? Especially if you're going to cast Sean Patrick Flanery as the cop and Joe Pantoliano as the mad bomber. Pantoliano does a pretty good job, but he's not equal to Hopper or Jones, and Flanery is an even weaker link here. The only real treat is Carmen Serano who plays an FBI agent.Don't get me wrong. I think Joe Pantoliano is an excellent character actor. He's given memorable performances in "The Sopranos", "The Matrix", "Midnight Run" and others, but his strength is in the character role, not as the leading villain.Another problem with the film is the lagging direction from Robert Kurtzman. Kurtzman is a distinguished makeup and special effects man who transitioned to producing and directing. This was his 5th film, following "The Rage" (2007), "Buried Alive" (2007), "Wishmaster" (1997), and "The Demolitionist" (1995). Unfortunately the film drags, which is a real problem for an action thriller that already has several good films out there with nearly identical plots.BTW - the makeup and special effects, especially Pantoliano's makeup and many disguises are quite good, as one might expect given Kurtzman's background.Another problem comes with the script. There are several flaws, the most noteworthy coming at the very beginning of the film when Pantoliano instructs Flanery to turn out the lights and then fire a rifle, telling him that Pantoliano's cameras are equipped with night sensitive lenses. That may be true, but Flanery is being required to make a very difficult shot, and neither he nor his rifle are equipped with night vision, so once the lights are turned out, he is "in the dark", yet he makes this very difficult shot.Bottom line - an OK B film, but there are far better out there with similar plots.

Worst movie I have seen...

This move was absolutely HORRID. I actually didn't even make it halfway through before turning the TV off. One thing that bugged me morethan ANYTHING was the fact that the movie supposedly traveled 8 yearsin time... and... everyone... looked... exactly... the... same... Maybethey attempted to make the actors look older, but I'm pretty sure if 8years went by, there would be at least a LITTLE grey going on. Butnope, Greg Serano looked exactly the same with his dark black hair. Nogrey, no wrinkles, no nothing. Sean Patrick Flanery looked like he hadthe same scruffy beard going on, with the same exact hair style throughout the 8 years, too. Like, come on. Really? It just seemed like thedirectors didn't care about little things and basically only caredabout rushing through scenes to hurry up and make the viewers happywhen the good guy won. Typical.Another thing that bugged me was the fact that it looked and felt likesuch a low-budget type of movie. They must have just found some randompeople on the street and said "HEY! WANNA BE IN A MOVIE? FREE MONEYZ!"The acting was atrocious. I like Sean Patrick Flanery because theBoondock Saints was basically amazing from start to end. His actingwasn't as good as I've seen... but still, it was better than everyoneelse. And, ummm... Carmen Serano? Who? Never heard of her. Never wantto see her in anything again. Please. WORST acting I have seen in a"big" movie. I felt like she was reading the script while she was oncamera.I could go on, but it's not even worth it. I would NOT recommend thisto ANYONE. Don't waste your time.

A decent watch

In all honesty, I really enjoyed this movie. It was a decent thriller. It reminded me a little of the TV show 24 for some reason, maybe thestoryline. Flanery and Pantoliano do a pretty good job and really makethis film. I think the movie could have been better with a differentfemale lead, she just didn't seem to suit the part. I must say though, she is a hottie!! Most of the rest of the cast just make up thenumbers. One downfall was that I didn't really like how music playedthrough most of the movie, I don't understand why they do this.If you like movies in the same genre as speed and the like you willenjoy this one.

Thrill Ride

This movie is defiantly worth checking out. Flannery and Pantoliaon work well together. Suspense through the whole movie, and a killer ending.

"bomb" is the word

Worst movie I have ever seen. No exaggeration. Acting terrible, plotline worse. The idea that someone invested in this bomb is, simply, stunning. I barely managed to watch the whole movie only because Iprayed that the lead female would die.She didn't.Bad guy did. Even that small joy was denied the audience.Reminiscent of the worst cops and robbers movies of the 70's.. Thedepths of the stupidity of the law enforcement in this movie spokevolumes of the ignorance of the writer (their couldn't be more thanone). Every time you think "they can't be this stupid", they prove youwrong. Inconceivable that someone watched this and said, "Lets releasethis and put our names to this."I've seen porn with a more believable plot line.Didn't care for this much.

terrible

This review is from: Deadly Impact (DVD) Calling this a B movie would be a disservice to B movies everywhere.Very disappointing.

Kurtzman does it right with Deadly Impact!

I don't want to write anything that will spoil this fine feature formovie-goers, so I'll keep it as generic as I can: If you are a fan ofaction/suspense movies like The Bourne Identity, Die Hard, or LethalWeapon, grab some popcorn and watch Robert Kurtzman's DEADLY IMPACT.Pitted against a criminal mastermind (Joe Pantoliano) are apsychologically wounded cop (Sean Patrick Flanery) and a fiery LatinaFBI Agent (Carmen Serano). If you like fast, well-choreographed,visually stimulating action movies, Deadly Impact really delivers.Veteran horror film-maker Kurtzman knows how to get the most from hisactors, and Flanery, Serano, and Pantoliano prove this as Kurtzmanjumps into the action/suspense world in a very big way, makingAlexander Vesha's story a movie-screen roller-coaster you won't want tomiss.

Awesome Movie

I enjoyed the action and the thrill of the movie. It was better thenwhat the trailer showed. The special effects were great and very willexecuted. The way the movie ended was great out of this world. Theacting was some of the best I have seen in a while. The way the movieopened was so good. For a low budget movie it was well worth everminute to watch I would have to say that the Director was extremelygood and did a very great job on. Robert Kurtzman has always been ableto give the audience what the wanted as far as action and gore. SeanPatrick Flanery did such an awesome job Acting along with JoePantoliano. I would buy the movie and added it to my collection andtell any one to watch it.

Deadly Impact - Hardly

Another revenge flick that makes ridiculous demands on the audience -the acting is only just above the typical WWF performance, nothing elseis. The plot, premise and screenplay are pure simplistic pantomime.Don't bother unless you are really sucked in by the plots in WWF. Whyoh why do these action films have to have such contrived story lines toexecute screenplay. An irritating dick-waving contest between and evil'mastermind' who despite having the ability to take on any challengesets about playing games with the dumbest cop in police enforcementhistory. It is very hard to imagine an psychopath so cruel that hewould not have just finished the idiot in the first scene and spared usall the agony.

samuel_bisson (08 May 2012)

Solid action movie

I feel that the rating for this movie needs a little boost from thereviews that are already present. This movie was a lot of fun from thestart to the end; a lot better than most of the big blockbusters thatcome out of the same genre. It's nothing special in the plot line, butI often feel like watching something in the line of Die Hard 3 meetsFace/Off and this did it for me. There are certainly things thatweren't great, but for me the only thing I have to mention is that itshould have spent some more time in post production. The music andcolouring really needed some more attention. Don't get me wrong, mostof the movie was well coloured and edited, but some scenes (especiallythe outdoor scenes) made you realize that it was on a moderate budget.I guess that's when they were running out of money and needed to get itout to print.Overall, I would recommend this movie if like cop-terrorist gamemovies. A lot of action, good pace, solid ending.

Perfect flick for thrill seekers

Find a spot at the edge of your seat and get comfortable. "DeadlyImpact" will have your stomach in knots within the first 10 minutes. After mastermind assassin David Kaplow (Joe Pantoliano) proves thestrength of his capabilities early on, there's little time to ask why,but rather when. This highly suspenseful film is so captivating, the smallestdisturbance will have you jumping.Realistic but horrifying scenarios are so mind-boggling, audiencemembers are left wondering how anyone could make the decisions policeofficer Tom Armstrong (Sean Patrick Flanery) faces, and survive.Intense, non-stop action, a splash of romance and equipped with asatisfying ending, "Deadly Impact" is a flick for thrill seekers.Written by Columbus native Alexander Vesha and directed by RobertKurtzman of Precinct 13 Entertainment in Crestline, "Deadly Impact"makes the perfect flick for thrill seekers.

Inconsistent stuff

This movie sucks so much I am actually angry. Its the most illogicalthing ever seen on TV. OK the acting was lets say decent but unless youare stupid as me, don't watch. Couse you could surely do somethingbetter, for example eat a row potato. Its a very annoying movie due tothe fact that no matter how hard I try I cant believe the incrediblystupid, illogical and completely inconsistent story. Short synopsis: A guy who had been forced to kill his wife by a psychogets reinstated into the police in order to help find the psycho thensome people get killed and at the end the good guy supposedly surprisesyou and kills the psycho end of story.I like crappy movies but this is too much crap even for me. Cliché isthe right word to describe this movie and bad, yes that also.Im givingit 4 because its bad but not that bad. But i think the guy who wrotethe story should be shot or at least forbidden to write scripts.

Great Acting, Great Action and Great Plot

This movie was really entertaining. The action started from the secondscene and even though you weren't attached to the characters much, youcould feel the pain they were going through and understand how hard thedecision would be to make. The movie then showed the unhappiness and escape that the lead SeanPatrick Flanery was feeling. The acting by Sean Patrick flanery wasbrilliant. I am surprised he is not a Big Star, because he's amazing. This movie was real. I hate how most new action films rely so much onspecial effects and green screens to complete scenes that lookcompletely fake. This movie actually has realistic special effects.Great film, rent it or buy it.

Deadly Impact worth a view or two....

Score another winner for master of horror Robert Kurtzman, this timewith a taught, densely packed thriller. Joe Pantoliano and Sean PatrickFlanery are excellent foils for each other, with Flanery as the copwith a tragic, tortured past and Pantoliano as a maniacal assassin witha grudge. While there are a few flaws inherent in any film that doesn'thave a $50 million budget, these can be overlooked as this film grabsyou by the throat and doesn't let up. Kurtzman's pacing is intense, with a minimum of shoe leather to get you from scene to scene. You dohave to pay close attention to every tiny scrap of dialogue, though, asthere are lines that are nearly throwaways that are important to theplot. I definitely recommend this for at least a rental, if not ahighly entertaining addition to your library. I am disappointed thatthis doesn't appear to be coming out on Blu-Ray. I'd love to be able towatch it on the Hi-Def with that excellent soundtrack rumbling myinnards.

Edge of your seat thriller

This is a great cat and mouse movie. Sean Patrick Flanery is brilliant as the detective hot on the trail of a serial bomber. Full of action from start to finish this movie keeps you on the edge of your seat.

kentaur69 (20 April 2012)

deadly impact? not likely

First of all, I love a decent action flick as much as the other guy, given it has a good story, good acting, some nice twists, good actionsequences, (keep in mind, I said GOOD and NICE, not PHENOMENAL orBRILLIANT)and let's not forget about the mandatoryblond/brunette/redhead bombshell. Deadly Impact has none of the above.Apart from it's cheesy title, the only two good things in this movieare Sean Patrick Flanery and Joe Pantoliano - that's why I gave it 2stars instead of 0 - , and even they are far from their usual acting. It took me half the movie to realize that Carmen Serano really IS thefemale lead in this movie, and I can't understand why on earth wouldthe producers/casting/director/studio choose an ugly-tranny-lookalikewhen there are so much more rising - and HOT - female stars out there. And some who CAN act, too. Not even Sean Patrick Flanery's shaggy,beat-up-look - which is always welcome - can't save this one fromsinking. Final report: don't bother, unless you have absolutely nothingto do for about one and a half hours. Watch The Boondock Saintsinstead! (both)

Surprising suspenses

From before the title even appears you're given a mini-movie that let'syou know from the start this is no formula flick. please don't letthose talking about plot holes etc discourage you from seeing this. It's fun, it's full of surprising twists and it doesn't have anoverwhelming amount of super-sicko stuff that make you wonder what kindof pervs the writers must be. Yes you must suspend your belief at times but no more than in mostmovies of this type, and this one is much less predictable than most. Iactually applauded at the ending because there's no way you can see itcoming. Think of a Bruce Willis movie, only with the Bruce Willis partbeing played by Satan as the bad guy in the film. There is plenty ofaction and the only really predictable part is the survival of the leadand a steamy roll around on the floor with the love interest. I highly recommend you ignore the negative reviews and watch. it's oneof the few movies I've seen lately that has the mature subject matterof a plot that doesn't make you ashamed to have seen it. surprisingly suspenseful, unpredictable and a satisfying conclusionwithout too much gore or sicko stuff (not even that much cursing excepta spattering of F's and MF's here and there, noticeably lighter thanmost films). . Not much more than that you can ask of a thriller

ithacared66 (18 April 2012)

Not Good but not bad

I'll admit that this is not a great movie, the plot is simple and youcan see some turns coming a mile away. However this is an entertainingmovie, the performance by Sean Patrick Flannery is very good and theacting of Joe Pantoliano is excellent. Both are believable and delivergood performances. On the other hand the acting of just about everyoneelse is atrocious especially Carmen Serano she should not be allowed tobe in any more movies towards the end I kept hoping she would be nextto die so I wouldn't have to listen to her anymore. This movies a oneyou should rent on a night when you want to be entertained by amindless movie that doesn't require you to think to much, if you dothat you will have fun.
