Might Bring The Series Back to Life

You can also read this review on my blog: Two Bullets, Five Zombies -->http://wp.me/p1MQmC-2t As a dedicated fan of this series, as soon as this movie was availableat movie theatres around me, I was DYING to watch it! Nevertheless, Iwas a bit worried that the series had reached its zenith by the thirdmovie and was on the edge of the grave because the fourth movie, although entertaining, wasn't as good as the first three. But could Ihave been more wrong?! In the fifth Installment of Final destination, aman's premonition saves a group of coworkers from a horrifyingsuspension bridge collapse. But they weren't supposed to survive, theycheated death and death doesn't like to be cheated. Unless theydiscover a way to escape Death's sinister agenda, it's game over forthem. The movie has as much blood and gore as possible, just the way I likeit! I don't know why but I find it hilarious when some one's intestinesburst, or when their eye falls out. People gave me weird looks when Iburst out laughing while others were screaming, even my friends thinkI'm evil. Anyhow... What I really liked about this movie is that inaddition to the horror/blood factor, there is an actual plot, which israre to find among movies from this genre. In the second movie, thetheory that a new life can defeat death was put to the test, while inthis movie it's suggested that ending a life can defeat death. Thatcreated an internal conflict in which the characters were hit byreality, can they take a person's life in order to live themselves? Thedeath scenes were truly awesome, the director showed many clues at thestart of each death scene, you get to play detective to guess how thecharacter is going to go. I've got to admit, I was surprised almostevery time. FD5 revived the spirit of the original movie- my favorite,it had this dark humor and an atmosphere that can give goosebumps; thekind you get when you are beyond creeped out.The visual effects are pretty wicked, from the opening credits till theclosing credits, I actually felt like I could reach out and grab theknife, or that I was really splashed with blood, or that some one'sintestines are all over me. Definitely the best 3D offered this year (I promise, I don't say that about each 3d movie I watch, it's that Ireally thought it was the newest Transformers till I saw FD5!).The ending left me speechless, or rather screaming out obscenities andthe name of another certain movie. Now, I can't just not tell you whathappens, yet I can't just simply spoil it for you. But Iwill....Mwahahaha When Sam and Molly board the plane to Paris, we catcha glance of Carter and Alex from the first Final Destination moviefight then get off the plane. That's when I went nuts; cursing andscreaming out "Flight 180" or "That's from part one!"or just "That'sCarter" as he was one of my favorites from the first movie, and helooks kinda yummy, don't ya think? To make it worse, I don't thinkanyone in the whole theatre has ever watched the first movie before, soyeah, I looked pretty crazy. And to top it all off, a part of the planefalls over the last survivor! All in all, Final Destination is a veryenjoyable, suspenseful movie that I believe can (hopefully) bring theseries back to life. If you aren't weak-hearted, you won't regretwatching it!

What a crock 3D or not it's horrible movie...

First off id like to let people know I watched the bluray of this. Themovie is 93mins long what a shocker.... First annoyance was the 3Minsand 47 sec intro to a movie that is 94mins long putting the base movieat under 90 mins. The intro itself was over the top and horrible inevery way this is something we would all expect to see a premier on theSyFy channel starring bad actors like Dean Cain. Now that the movie hasstarted most of us watching are already expecting a failure guess whatwe were pleased to know it did fail beyond expectations. There is ascene in the movie involving a Plane crash which is the same crash fromthe earlier Final Destination movie. So how is Final Destination 5 setat a later time when there is a Plane Crash from one of the earliermovies? Same kids fighting on the plane to get off of it is on theplane in Final Destination 5 how is this possible? Did they add timetravel in Final Destination 5 that i some how missed ? 3D does not makea horrible movie better lets get that out there for all of the fakereviews we see saying "OMG MUST SEE IN 3D IT'S AMAZING" wrong If youpolish a turd it's still a turd. my advice to anyone planning to watchthis if you have a friend that has it or a local redbox borrow it orrent it. NOT worth a purchase it's barely worth viewing.

Kill or be Killed.......

So it continues with part five. If you don't know the plot by now, thenyou shouldn't be on this page.Guy has a premonition of an accident, warns people to get off the bus,the survivors start dying in freak accidents, Candyman appears to bestalking them at first, then gives them advice, in a very camp way.Candles blow, the film makers show us things unscrewing or waterfalling on electric, and then splat, some cool money shot deaths. And there is always a twist at the end. But for some reason, the filmmakers have decided that if the victims kill someone, they get their'years'. Why didn't Todd inform the people on flight 180 of this? It'sa great move that they decided to do a prequel and not let the viewerknow until five minutes before the end. There are hints, trips toParis, old mobile phones, but if you don't read spoilers (like i did)then these ae very hard to spot. The opening disaster is one of the best in the series, and is on a parwith part two. it's quite a traumatic opening sequence, letting youknow it's going to be a lot darker than the previous efforts. After the gymnast scene, which is the standout death, things start togo downhill, and come the final act, apart from the major twist, itbecomes very absurd and way off track from the other films. The cast are just there to look at, and they are second rate eye candy, apart from a couple of actors, the calibre of acting is bad.Todd puts some effort into his role, but then he is candyman, and knowshe will live and just walks around with a swagger and a knowing nod.3D is surprisingly good, and used sparingly, but is very effective comemore of the gorier scenes. All in all it's not a bad film, better than the fourth, but thefranchise is running out of steam very fast.Given the matter of the final scenes, it seems it would be a good timefor the reaper to hang up his scythe now, as another instalment wouldbe suicide. Then again, if one of the victims committed suicide, what would happento the rest of the survivors? How would death take to the changing ofthe pattern? If that gets made, i want my cut New Line......

A Love Letter to Fans.

Final Destination 5 is not the best instalment of the franchise. And ifyour looking to me to say that is is, then I'm afraid I won't. Becauseit wasn't. It is however a solid entry into the franchise, and ideallywhat I see as a love letter to the most hardcore of fans we've all cometo know over the last 10 years. Steve Quale has done a wonderful jobinjecting a fresh and detailed in look into the FD universe, which oflate has become lazily assembled and uninspired (don't have to tell youwhat I'm talking about there). Weirdly, it didn't feel like an FDmovie. Interestingly I thought FD5 ventured towards a far broader mixof genres, that being the likes of thrillers and action movies-thoughexplored in the past FD's, but this was much more present here thistime. And it needed it. Eric Heissier did an overall nice job ofcrafting charismatic and unique characters, on-par with the trilogy. There were some fantastic moments of wittiness and comedy-nonethelessdue to the likes of P.J Bryne and David Koechner who brought a long amore improvised approach to the performances-something not seen in sucha light in any of the past FD's. Performances range from good, toacceptable, to bad. I was mildly disappointed with Nicholas and Emma, mostly because I've just seen so much better from them. They are notbad actors, but their roles in FD5 just didn't bring out the best ofthem. I have to hand it Miles-Peter without doubt has to be the mosterratic, challenging and dramatic character the series has ever seen.He presents this well, though several moments falls weak. Despite this,Miles ranks amongst the best, aligning with Jacqueline, P.J, Koachnerand Tony-without a doubt the real stand outs. What I really strangelyliken is the risk they took casting a set of performers no stranger tothe comedy genre. I'd even say this helped create even more depth tothe protagonists, assembling a true human nature to them. (The funeralscene is a perfect example of this. Arlen, Jackie and P.J's banterstruck me as oddly touching-a fine example of how comedy and discretioncan be mastered appropriately when set against the backdrop of darkerthemes; something TFD failed to master.) And that brings me to Tony. Itwas a real treat to see him back to his old self yet again, and back onthe screen which Bludworth has been missing from for so long. He seemedto have a ball playing his character-though I couldn't help thinking hewas sadly underused throughout. I think this itself is one of theprimary mistakes the producers have made consistently for the last tenyears. That being that answers, mythology and subplots are handled withlittle confidence and attention, due to their mortal fear of strayingtoo far from the all important "formula" the franchise possesses.Ironically, the development of the films in all were so in tune withthe audience perception that they became reluctant to introduce trulynew and refreshing contexts, at the risk of alienating the pivotaltarget audience. Though I would say that Bludworth's return broughtback that darkened ambiance so prevalent in the trilogy-again, apleasure to see. Brian Tyler delivers an epic, dark, beautiful scoreboth innovative and nostalgic-respecting the masterful tension Shirleybrought to the trilogy whilst going full steam ahead with a new foundsense of direction. From the chillingly grand opening titles (whichwere ingenious; fantastic throw back to old school 80's slashers andthe FD series overall) to the subtle rise of tension seen in the goodmajority of death scenes. I would go without saying Tylers work here ison par with Walkers FD1 score. In all, deaths were fantasticallyorchestrated bringing back the creativity and surprise from the pastwith a punch. They were a pleasure to watch with the audience; endlessWOOO's and AHHH's returning. Something I haven't witnessed in such ascale since FD3. Candice's death scene was by far the best, and in myeyes now stands in line with some of the most disturbing deaths thefranchise has spawned over the last ten years. Masterful tension, redherrings and cringing galore. The premonition scene was immenselythrilling, introducing a scale never seen before. It did what it neededto do, and is a wonder to behold on the big screen. The 3D is some ofthe best I've seen so far, adding a layer of depth to certain scenesand conducted with experience, expertise and intensity. But did FD5need it? No. Which is unfortunate due to some deaths spewing outpatronising comin-atcha! gore and a comical layer akin to a certainmovie. But unlike TFD, FD5 didn't need 3D. I'm relived to say it hasre-play value and stands alone as a solid, normal film, and not anovelty made bearable only by cardboard specs. The ending twist makesFD5 stand rightly side by side with FD1, FD2 and FD3, and was executedin a way which made me both shocked and moved. It's the perfect endingwe could ever wish for, put together in the most respectful and solidway possible. And that is why I do not want a Final Destination 6. FD5has brought full circle both the best and worst attributes of thefranchise, similarly to FD3, but with a far wide and personal scope. Most franchises would never dream of seeing such a perfectconclusion-but FD5 defies that-and brings us fans the film we havealways wanted. The FD team have apologised, and I accept it with openarms. Which is why I want this to be the end. Final Destination hasdefined a new generation of horror fans and made its well earned markupon the horror genre. Everything has been brought full circle, and Ibelieve it time to bid farewell to the franchise which re-inventeddeath, and the slasher genre overall.

Good to see in 3D

I've watched this final episode of FD5 on Cape Town / Water FrontCinema in 3D and that was an amazing experience. The movie was not asexpected but at least it was far from Epi3 & 4.I liked the idea being in circle with the Epi.1, but the only problemis that it seems a classical SAW-Fasion, meaning everything wasexpected and very predictable. It is by the end a nice movie to see if you need to have-a-go, and Ihope they'll come with a newer version when they might do somerevolution like that of Lord of the Kings, The God father or evenbetter.

"Final Destination 5" - If you have seen the others you will know exactly what to expect. Nothing new or original in this one. I say C

"Death doesn't like to be cheated." When a group of employees on a workretreat head out on a bus one of the employees has a vision of a bridgecollapse. When he tells everyone to get off only a few listen. All buteight die and the standard "Final Destination" plot takes over. Thisone did have a little different twist in it, but not enough to make itfeel original again. If you are a fan of the series you will probablylike this one. I have seen them all, and after the second one the onlyreal exciting part for me was watching the way they kill people off. Itmay just be me, but after the "Final Destination", "Saw" and "Scream"series' it seems like all the cool ideas have been taken. There isreally not much to say about this one that hasn't already been done.Un-original ideas, un-original deaths, un-original dialog...but fromthe fifth movie in a series this isn't a surprise and can't be heldagainst it. On the other hand, if you can't think of any more ideasthat you haven't seen before then don't make a new installment. The onegreat spot in the movie is the way that it ends...watch it and you willsee what I mean. Overall, if you like the other four you will mostlikely like this one too. Just don't expect anything new. I give it aC.Would I watch again? - I don't think so. Not really a series you canwatch over and over.*Also try - Final Destination 1-4

The Best Sequel Yet!

Most likely, you're not reading this unless you're a fan and alreadyplan to see the film. And if you are, then know that my review is basedon my fandom and in relation to the series itself. Therefore, it willbe in the context of horror films, slasher films, and more importantly, the series itself. With that out of the way, who would have though thefifth film would be the one. Ever since the original, the series hassort of meandered around, trying to recapture the initial wonder ofdeath playing the part of a slasher and killing off a group of people. Yes, Final Destination 5 is truly the best sequel since the first. There hasn't been this much tension and creativity since the original, and practically every scene is filled with an uncomfortable level ofanxiety. This is what the film has truly been missing, whether spoiledby the trailers before it or just a lack of creativity. For the mostpart, Final Destination 3 and 4 (TFD) lacked the necessary level ofcreativity and menace that was present in the first film, and even inthe second. However, we have plenty of that here and a few nice twistsas well. While the kills are also pretty ridiculous, most are plausibleand, unlike TFD, should please fans with their level of gore andbrutality. The filmmaking qualities here reach above the standard the film hasset. It looks great, with plenty of swift and enticing editing thatwill make your skin crawl with anticipation. The acting, while stillnot of any award winning caliber, or even really all that great, isdecent enough here. The portrayals are more realistic this time around. While the film had though to settle into theI-found-the-answers-on-the-internet routine, here we have a smooth flowin which characters sort of lose their mind trying to figure thingsout. And while some might have called the main couple's relationshipcringe worthy, I actually found it to be quite well played out as thecouple has real issues they work through on top of everything that'sgoing on. Suffice to say, it's nice to see the FD series making betterattempts at developing it's characters. Still not great, but better. With that said, this is Final Destination, and problems persist.Despite better attempts at character development, the majority stillplay fodder for death's machinations. Sure, we learn a little aboutthem, but it's not any more than the bare minimum: this guys a jerk, that girls wild, etc etc. There is also one kill, in particular, that, while brutal, defies logic. Sure, it's FD, but there is a certain pointof ridiculousness where the line is drawn. The characters trying tofigure out what's going on is also getting old. There's certainly areason here, which I won't spoil, why our characters don't know aboutwhat is happening in the same way characters from previous films know. But this leads to the problem of it being explained too quickly. Thismight contradict what I said above, but what I mean is that Tony Todd'scharacter if far too quick to reveal information and the new twist. Incomparison to FD1, where things had a slow, natural pacing, here we geta couple death scenes, and explanation, and then more death scenes. Theprogression is better, but still not as good as the first two films. Fans will truly enjoy this solid sequel. There are a couple twists, andthe final scene will blow everyone away. It's beyond what you wouldexpect, and very nearly worth seeing the film alone. But with a handfulof creative and brutal twists and a decently put together film, thisshould certainly warrant a decent box office and, maybe unfortunately, another sequel or two.

Nick Gravois (05 May 2012)

What's wrong with the REST of Hollywood these days?

A scantily clad college coed walks into a dark room, nervously lookingaround. Suddenly a shadowy figure appears and murders her...but hey,who saw that coming? I'll tell you who saw that coming, everyone whohas ever seen anything labeled "horror"...ever, which I would assumewould also be anyone who has ever been involved in the making of one,who then turned around and DID THE EXACT SAME THING. The peopleinvolved in the production of Final Destination 5, however, decided tothrow up the middle finger to the genre by taking every horror moviecliché ever and murder it by having it get acupuncture therapy, lighting the room that it's in on fire and proceeding to crush it witha freaking Budha statue (seriously, that happened). You see, mosthorror movies begin with a simple fear, such as the fear of nightmares(Nightmare on Elm Street), the woods (Friday the 13th), or dolls(Child's Play); however, from the days of the first Final Destination, the writers took a different approach, namely: "what if we get a bunchof people to get killed to death in ridiculous by everyday things? Andwhat if we don't kill the black guy first? In fact, let's just killeveryone!" To which the production company was probably too busylaughing to actually say no, and thus, a franchise was born. Now, aswith every horror franchise, after the first, the follow-ups began tostart falling short. Final Destination 5 not only managed to barelyhang on to the collapsing bridge, but rebuild it and dance around asthe broken remains of terrible reboots, belated sequels and prequelssplattered around them. Hats off to Eric Heisserer for writing such afantastic and devilishly hilarious script, as well as the entireproduction team for creating this rare gem in a genre full of dirt. Theacting, while not spectacular, was Oscar winning compared to otherhorror movies. As I mentioned earlier, this film flips quite a largebird towards others in it's genre, deciding to almost spoof it. Thereare no naked women being stupid and getting killed, in fact, aside fromone brief scene with a woman in a bra, there's nothing even close tonudity, which I must say is surprisingly refreshing. The stereotypicalblack guy dying first also fails to show up, with the movie deciding tokill him last, because screw you stereotypes. The level of fun that isto be had with this movie is also incredible. In fact, afterwards, youwill likely feel a little twisted for laughing at some of theindescribably creative deaths. Also bringing the franchise around fullcircle was a cool little twist. So in closing, this is the best horrormovie, if you could call it that, to hit the screen in a long longtime. No, it's not perfect, but you'll be too busy trying to think ofhow the next victim is going to meet their fate to notice.

The final final destination?

I am familiar with the previous Final Destination films and I guess Icould be classed as a fan. When I heard about there being a fifth filmI knew I would go and see it but I had my doubts whether they have gonetoo far making a fifth film especially as the previous film had beentitle THE Final Destination. To be honest I think my doubts were rightI feel that have took the franchies too far and it may have just beencontinued for financial gain, unlike the original which broughtsomething new to horror films. Yes they do come up with different storylines but it all seems too familiar and boring. When watching this filmteamed with a sense of deja vu was a feeling of what could have been. Ibelieve when they chose to make a fifth film they could have createdsomething so much better than what I saw. To me they have joined otherfranchises which I believe have gone too far and I wouldn't besurprised if they continue to make at least yet another film. FinalDestination five was predictable, not at all gripping with a poor choiceof cast.

The Best of the Series So Far

Just got back from seeing this film in 3D and I am totally stunned byhow good it was. I mean I obviously expected it to be good but not THATgood. First of all I'll start off by talking about the deaths. Theywere a LOT more gorier in this one than what they were in the previousfour, great examples of this are the opening sequence, the gym scene, the lazer eye scene and the massage pala scene. These scenes really usethe 3D effect as much as they can and whilst we're on the subject of3D, if you have a choice to see this in 2D or 3D, I strongly suggestyou choose the 3D option as the 3D in this movie was some of the best3D I have ever seen.*SPOILER ALERT* The ending is my personal highlight of this film. Forthose who have not seen it I strongly suggest you do not read this andsee the film for yourself. Basically it reveals that the first hour and20 minutes is set before the first movie and the final five or tenminutes is at the same time as the first movie so basically we get towitness the plane crash after Alex and his friends got off the plane.Overall I think it's one of the best entries in the series and ifyou're a fan of the series you won't be disappointed, and if you ain'ta fan of the series I still recommend you check it out10/10

Dylan Kozak (30 April 2012)

It's Final Destination, what can I say?

Quite a bit actually. Rumor has it that the producers wanted to makesure this installment would be darker, similar to the first FinalDestination, in contrast to the ***t-fest that was The FinalDestination (4). And... that's exactly what we got. That's not to say Iwasn't laughing at a lot of things during this movie (not bothering the2 other people in the theater). So let's dive into the fourth sequel.First of all, the credits are just a 3-D gimmick, with things that havepreviously killed (or will end up killing) victims of the moviesbreaking through glass as they fly at us. They are far too long and Iwas only getting through it by naming what movie it killed someone in.If the story is a surprise to you, go get your IQ checked. The acting in this is much better than 3 and 4. I was actuallysurprised at the emotional turmoil some characters had coping with thedeaths of their co-workers and loved ones. Yet for most of thecharacters it doesn't seem to last long. Only Peter seems to care thewhole time, but that seems to be to the point of insanity. I'm going toguess that was part of the writing, so acting gets a 5/10.There's a stupid sub-plot of what happens with the relationship betweenour protagonist Sam and his girlfriend Molly. In the opening scene, they break up. We later find out it's because Sam is a chef and wantsto take an apprenticeship in Paris. Why is this important to the plot? You'll see. But that sub-plot shouldn't exist, its importance couldhave been set up in just a bit of dialogue. But then our movie would betoo short.Earlier I said I was laughing at many things in this movie. It wasn'tbad dialogue... okay yes it was. Well it wasn't the deaths... that's alie too. Everything was just dumb. A character named Isaac is this fasttalking insensitive selfish nerd who has an awkward scene at a massagetherapy parlor that seems more out of a comedy than Final Destination. The boss, Dennis, isn't a character. He just says stuff and people arescared of him. Peter is an emo dude, Candice is his gymnast girlfriend, and they also have their Token Black Guy, Nathan. To top it all off,the groupie slut, Olivia. She only takes her shirt off once though. Ifeel like I've digressed a bit too much, so I'll just move on.The deaths are boring. And that's good. The most graphic we get is inthe premonition, when Candice is impaled on a (get this) sailboat mast.We see intestines and... that's really the best we get. She later diesof... lots of broken bones. She falls off a gymnastic bar thing andsomehow manages to break every bone in her body, most likely includingher neck. This death is ridiculous and impossible for many reasons Iwill not get in to. Isaac gets his head crushed by a Buddha statue,Olivia falls out a window, Dennis gets a wrench to the face, Peter getsstabbed. Boring. But now let us move on to the script, which I mustgive the movie credit for.The script consists of the regular Final Destination formula: CharacterExposition; Premonotion; Deaths. But this time, there's a twist. Thecreepy morgue guy, Bludworth, tells four of the remaining survivors(Molly never died in the premonition) that if they killed somebody whohad nothing to do with the bridge, they would regain their life. Neat, huh? Except for one thing... IT NEVER WORKS!! Nathan kills this guynamed Roy he doesn't like, but gets killed anyway because that guy wasalready going to die a different way according to Death's plan. Thismeans that Nathan should have died before Dennis, because in the orderof the premonition, he was next. But nope, he dies last. Can you sayPlot-hole? Also, Peter kills a federal agent, and is then killed bySam. OOPS! Now here's the real kicker that is both good and bad: Thismovie is not in the present time. In fact, it's a prequel. This takesplace... BEFORE THE FIRST MOVIE! Surprised the hell out of me. Yet thisis simply a case of making ***t up as they go along, because if that'sthe case, why was the "kill or be killed" rule never re-introduced?Anyway, we know this is a prequel because Sam and Molly get on theplane to Paris, the same plane Alex from the original was on. You knowwhat that means, Sam and Molly die in that plane crash. OOPS! I guessDeath just felt like breaking the rules himself. Then the worst part ofthe movie comes... the plane lands on Nathan. Yep, it lands on himwhile he's at a memorial service for the guy he killed. Nobody lives. So, writers? You listening? If you're going to add that little twist...HAVE IT AMOUNT TO SOMETHING!!! In spite of the small praise I've given it, this movie has its issues.I'd just like to stress that I did not hate this like I did 3 and 4.5/10.

evgeniyfil23 (29 April 2012)

I liked very much,cause it's HILARIOUS

I know it's not a comedy but it's very funny how over-the-top andnonsense the death sequences are.And even though they are goofy, there'salways suspense going on. The story is about some people from onecompany who are going to go on a business trip, they get on a bus, andone of them starts feeling that something's wrong. The bridge they're onis about to collapse, and one by one, they die.The fake animated bloodwas really enjoyable. There was one scene, where a girl's eyes arebeing burned with the laser correction laser, and since i wear glassesmyself and was thinking about lasers myself, this was a bit scary forme. But the thing that made me applause in the movie theater is theending. Goddamn, was it good!It has a great twist, returning us to allthe previous movies.By the way,i liked all of them except the thirdone(that one sucked). P.S. I watched this in 2D and it's stillgood. There aren't a lot of 3D moments,so,to hell with them. P.P.S. Thisis my first review and my language can be bad sometimes cause I'mRussian.

Boring, Standard Horror Teenager Movie

Boring, Standard Horror Teenager Movie, rating 4, spoilersOnce again we were served the same old story. It really has gottenboring by the fifth sequel. Only the first title had a new idea totransmit. The only interesting in this movie series is: How will the next victimdie? So I suggest somebody cuts together a movie, where you can see allthe uncommon deaths. That would be entertaining. The producers did obviously a kind of brainstorming, where followingpoints were standing in the foreground: - is it a situation where untilnow nobody got to death - is it a moment where you always thought "whatif…"And I must admit they found it: acupuncture. I estimate that until nownobody died from it.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Firstly of all i should just say that I love the FD franchise and whenI heard the news of a fifth film I just couldn't wait. For months andmonths I waited for news, pictures and trailers so when some came ijust knew this would be the best of the lot. I was right. When the film was finally release here in the UK I went to see it withmy friends, and we all loved it. It is easily the best in the franchiseand probably the best horror film this year! The characters are the best. They have such diversity which none of theother films had. They are interesting and there's development so youcare when someone dies horribly. I love Olivia (Jacqueline MacInnesWood) I think she is the best Final Destination has ever seen, and Isee great things for Jacqueline in the future. The deaths are suspenseful and gory but gory in the right way, unlikeFD4/TFD which were funny gory. As I said before you don't want acharacter to die because of the development.Steven Quale has don't an amazing job with the directing and the 3D isreally good (again unlike FD4 appalling 3D). the 3D in the openingcredits is THE best use I've ever seen in any movie.Every horror or FD fan should see this film because you'll not bedisappointed!!!9/10

Need Hot Chicks

I grew up on the Final Destination series, I was 15 when the first onecame out and I haven't missed any of them. My biggest problem with thelast one is that I didn't find the chicks that hot. It's afranchise—can't they find 3-4 girls that are hot? That's my biggestcomplaint about the movie, need hotter chicks. Otherwise, they did thesame thing over again, like they do every one of them, the wholeanticipation and it's never the way you think they're going to die. I'mnot complaining about that, I really like that stuff. Six of us wentand we had a great time. It's almost comical all the anticipation ofwaiting for something bad to happen, especially the gymnast girl withthe screw on the plank she was walking on, we were laughing so much. Not laughing as in it was bad, but laughing along with it, almost likea half-fun, half-nervous edge of your seat laugh. We all really enjoyedit, although the story did kind of fall apart at the end a little. Wascool that they took it back to May 2000 when it all started, but theend—from the part when the Tom Cruise looking guy shows up with the gunat the restaurant to the end—seemed like it was a little off. I thinkthey've done enough of them now, it's time to stop, but I'm glad theydid # 5.

FD 5 Takes the Gold!

So, I saw FD5 at its midnight release after purchasing my tickets daysin advance. Yes, I'm that big of a fan; next to Nightmare on ElmStreet, the FD franchise is my favorite. I don't want to make this along review, but I will sum up my thoughts on this movie in one word…AMAZING! FD 5 is, IMO, the best installment to the franchise, and insome cases, surpasses the original. From start to finish, the movie isfull of suspense, tension, excitement, and anticipation. It's enough tokeep ME, someone who has followed this movie's production for the pastyear and knew just about everything about the movie going into it, atthe edge of my seat. Yes, I knew who'd die, when they'd die, and howthey'd die even before stepping foot into the theater. But, regardless,I wasn't let down one bit. This movie, unlike the others (minus the1st), succeeded in giving character development. The death scenes wereawesome and not too overly fictional, and even managed to throw in anew rule, "kill or be killed." Which gave a breath of fresh air to thealmost stale plot that we all know of. The premonition scene isdefinitely the best of the franchise and the acting was on par. NotOscar worthy, but definitely believable for what it is. I just can'tsay enough how great this movie is. Now I won't spoil anything foranyone, but the ending was EPIC! Words can't describe how amazing itwas. Steven Quale did wonders with the use of 3D as well. Should it beseen in 3D…? YES! The film was shot in 3D and Quale knew when toemphasize the use of it without shoving it in our faces (except for theextra long title sequence, and credits). Anyways, while I loved thismovie and everything about it, it did have a few things about it thatunderwhelmed me. The use of CGI blood was a bit more than I wanted, andat some points did look a bit fake. Also, some parts of the film were abit too comedic. The comedic level should have been toned down for aparticular scene (I'm looking at YOU, Issac.) Other than that, themovie was fantastic and an excellent installment into the FD family. Ireally recommend this movie, but only to those at least knowing whatthey are getting themselves into.

Wow, a comprehensive review

Now if you're reading this, you've already seen the movie. Let's get tothe good part: The special effects were top-notch. What I really liked is that thecharacters were not stupid. In FD 4, it took the hero too long to say"Hey, something's wrong!", but in FD 5, he gets that right only afterthe first three clues are repeated before he warns everyone to get offthe bus. That was really cool. Also, he realized death was after themafter the first two deaths and took it seriously unlike FD 4 where thecharacters were in disbelief until they were all dead. Well, theydeserved it, but here the characters act in an intelligent way, evenconsider taking other people's lives to cheat death again.Something about this movie was different, that most of the clues weremisleading. Now you might argue that it's a good thing for thecharacters to die in unpredictable ways, but it doesn't mean it feelsgood to get fooled so much. For instance, in the first death scene, Iexpected to see the gymnast get electrocuted, but she died in aridiculous way. If there's even any possibility of gymnasts dying likethat by simply falling, many must have died during their trainingsessions in the real world, you think? It's OK to break your neck byfalling to the ground, but die in a bloody manner like that? Nah,that's too far-fetched.The second death scene was my least favorite, but the guy was funny. Heactually made me laugh "Do you come with subtitles?" LOL but this timethe clues were too misleading to be acceptable. He didn't die becauseof the fire, but I don't know, a statue smashing his head? And what wasthat all about him being unable to move? He just rolls down the bed andfalls to the floor, while he could walk away instead of shouting "Fire, fire!" Well, if there is a fire, just RUN! Save yourself first, savethe spa later! Then there comes the "creepy dude" and God I love it when he explainseverything and even tells the characters how they can possibly cheatdeath again! Kill or be killed! I hated him being so vague in FD 1 and2.Oh my God, the eye surgery! Don't do that, I was actually consideringdoing that you know, but after seeing this.........That was quitedisturbing! And then the detective comes along, "You know something you're nottelling me." Well, I'd say he was smarter than the detectives in FD 1.I mean he actually figured that "there was a pattern." Smart guy! Toobad he got killed. Now we have only 25 minutes left for the rest of the characters to dieand I'm starting to wonder how they're going to wrap so many deaths injust 25 minutes! Peter, a villain? I don't think so. He was just fighting for his life.I mean who wouldn't? But I don't get it. Killing a stranger is a loteasier than killing your friend, right? What's all that about "Aftergiving it some thought, I realized I "could" kill somebody, but then Irealized I "couldn't" kill a stranger, but I think I "can" kill afriend!" Yeah, that makes sense! Did you really think Peter? And the ending, Wow, I didn't see it coming! I think they'd cut thescene from FD 1, because the characters in FD 1 would be much oldernow, you think? And I have to let you know of a HUGE plot whole in the sequel. You allremember how the characters in Final Destination 2, 3 and 4 madereferences to the Flight 180, because the Flight 180 event predates allthe rest, right? But since it's revealed that the events of FD 5actually predate those of FD 1, it begs the question of "Why aren'tthere any references to the bridge incident in FD 1, 2, 3 and 4considering the fact that the collapse of a bridge THAT BIG is a lotmore serious event than a plane crash. Now, since the story of FD 5 hasbeen written after FD 4, this is forgivable, but well, I'm just smartlike that. What can I do, right? ;)The director said (and I read about this on Wikipedia) that if FD 5sales good, we will consider the production of FD 6 and 7! That's someawesome news! The movie's selling like hot cakes and it's getting allthe positive reviews, but there's a problem. The sequel was sealed withwhat they did in the end, unless they come up with a new twist to getFD 6 started, which is going to be difficult. Anyway, well done! Thisis what I call a good movie! Made my day! Oh and before I close this review, I came up with an idea! The guys whowere supposed to die killed two people who "were not" supposed to die, right? You know, I'm just saying you could use this to make FD 6! Andsomething else. The sequel is not really sealed yet, because in FD 1the hero had a vision and saved others in spite of the fact that deathhad not yet managed to kill the two survivors from FD 5 (which in factpredates FD 1), yet we still get FD 2, 3 and 4, so there's room formany more Final Destinations! But for God's sake, stop using thatscenario of spilling water over electric wires. It's getting stalealready!Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie not only as a Final Destination fan,but also because it was so great you couldn't really help but enjoy it.10 / 10, go see it. Wait, you've already done that! :)

When will the series end

In 2000, we got our first glimpse at how a prophecy was able to save ahandful of people from a giant tragedy, only to have them die bygruesome, albeit cheesy, deaths. One decade and three sequels later, the world is now being introduced to the fifth installment of the movieseries about attempting to cheat death known as Final Destination. NowI'll admit the first two Final Destination movies were somewhatintriguing and kept me in suspense with trying to figure out who wouldsurvive. However I feel that the series, much like Saw, has becomenothing more than an overdone, overplayed, and incredibly cheesy seriesthat provides nothing more than cheap entertainment. If you wish toknow why keep on reading my review as we take a look Final Destination5 or FD5.In case you haven't seen the trailer, FD5 starts out with one randomman named Sam Lawton (Nicholas D'Agosto) having a vision about a deadlyaccident that will kill him and his friends, in a very gore filledsequence. When the vision starts to become true, Sam and the gangescape the disaster and cheat death thinking they are lucky to bealive. However, Death does not like to be cheated and once again wefollow the quest to survive supernatural killing force, but this timein 3-D.As we have seen four times in the past, we know that this quest ispretty much futile for most of the cast and FD5 is no different. Thefilm once again focuses on a bunch of cheesy, underdeveloped, cardboardcharacters that die in some of the most ridiculous ways yet. Althoughthe group tried to put a twist on the film, you can kill another personand swap their lives with them, Quale et al. still refuse to deviatefrom the predictable death formula that is famous in the series andhave added more gore to formula. From the very beginning of the filmthe gore is intense, the 3-D painting the audiences vision with adisgusting red mess. As the movie progresses, the deaths get moreridiculous, and the characters get stupider, as one by one they areeliminated, typically with some object flying towards the screen.Unfortunately the camera work manages to capture all of the gruesomedeaths and finds the maximum way to show off the death and destruction.Accompanying the shots are tons of wet, squishy, and gushing soundsthat horror films seem to thrive on, which are often times barelyaudible over the constant high pitched screaming.Despite all the bad things this movie has to offer, there was one thingthat impressed me with this film. Although the majority of the plot ispredictable and the twists they tried to throw in were not thatsurprising, there was one twist in this movie I didn't see coming. There were no hints, giveaways, or any obvious clues in the movie tospoil what they had in store for the ending. When the ending finallyarrived, I applauded what they had worked so hard to conceal.Unfortunately this twist was not enough to justify the hour and half ofboring killing that I subjected myself too. There is really nothing more I can say about this film so let's wrapthis up. FD5 is a 3-D watered down version of the previousinstallments. Fans of intense gore and senseless killing will bethoroughly entertained throughout the movie and even laugh at theridiculous antics this film has to offer. Those looking for surprise, suspense, or an actual plot should definitely avoid this movie. OverallI'll give this movie a 4.0, mainly for that twist ending and some cuteladies to crush on. However, I would recommend everyone save theirmoney and wait for the movie to come out on Red Box or Netflix, youdon't need the surround sound. So until next time this is Robbie Ksigning out. Oh and fans who want more death should stay and watch theend credits for a nostalgic visit to the past.

Final Destination 5. The best sequel since 3?

Well at least in my opinion. Probably better. 3 was always my favoritealong with the first one. I think this is the best one. I haven't quitedecided. It is fantastic. The acting was good. Way better than the 4thone's. The kills were great. Very cringe-worthy. The effects were verygood. Especially the bridge collapse. Although, there was one shot atthe end of the premonition that was very bad. I won't say what, butonce you see it, you'll agree. The cast was great. I can see a lot ofpeople disliking D'Agosto's performance, but personally I thought hewas great. The ending was amazing. Definitely the best part of themovie. There are many hints leading up to it, but it is still veryshocking. Unfortunately, I had the ending as well as many of the deathsspoiled already. But, they are still very shocking. I guaranteedie-hard Final Destination fans will be very pleased. I definitelyrecommend it.9/10.

Getting' deathy with it.

Allow me to preface this review by saying that as you may have guessedfrom the trailer, this film is absolutely no different from theprevious 4. So if you're going to this movie expecting a bit of ashake-up, you may want to skip it. But if you're going to this moviefor how it should be viewed: good old gory and stupid fun, I'd say goright ahead.I was a little bit disenchanted with the series after I saw the fourthmovie. Maybe it was because I was getting tired of the series at thetime, but I just wasn't drinking the kool-aid anymore. Furthermore Iwas dumbfounded when they were making a 5th movie, wondering how theycould after the fourth movie was called "The Final Destination".However, the trailer looked fun, and some 3D gore fare will be somebang for my buck.I'm glad to report that this was a big Improvement. In fact, dare I sayit, this has been a good year for fives. While I'm not a fan of theFast And Furious movies, I enjoyed Fast Five in IMAX. And so I figuredmaybe the fifth FD movie could be good and I was surprised at how muchI liked it. The deaths are probably the most gory and brutal in the series. I kidyou not, the filmmakers really do go for broke, the deaths in your facelike a lunatic. In other words, death is ticked the frack off in this. One particular death pretty much sums up why I will never dogymnastics, in the same way that FD3 confirmed why I won't ever stepfoot into a Tanning salon, nor will I go on a roller coaster. Oh, andDavid Koechner is in this too, which I will say is a nice surprise. There is a lot of humour too. And thankfully so, because the previousinstallments took themselves too seriously. The spa scene had melaughing to the point of tears. Also, the deaths are beautifully campy, and I must say I found myself laughing at pretty much all the gore.In addition the 3D is a nice campy touch. There's stuff flying out atyou, like the Ships mast near the beginning, as well as the openingcredits with the wooden logs, the burnt bodies and the broken glass andwhat not. In fact, I'd say go for the 3D alone. However, I can't give this a higher rating because it is exactly thesame as the first four. I mean really, things happen the exact same wayThey did in the previous movies. I mean, as with the other movies, there's little to no surprise, so if you're expecting something fresh,do skip this.Overall, this movie is good for some light fun and campy, goryentertainment. If you liked the previous four, you'll like this one. Ifnot... Well, you get the idea.OVERALL: 6/10Pros: Final Destination 5 is good, campy gory entertainment for thosewanting just a bit of brainless (no pun intended) fun.Cons: The film is exactly the same as the first four. Plus, it wouldhave sucked out loud in 2D, but 3D was good fun.
