Seriesperson (18 May 2012)
I've watched the first three seasons of Grey's anatomy within fourweeks and it took me by surprise. The first season started up alrightand interesting, but it was clear that the characters had not beendeveloped yet. They were somewhat rigid and not always easy to get usedto. This flaw was well compensated in the second season, when, in myopinion, the show really hitted off. From that point on, it became thestrong soapy drama which it has been till now. The characters werepresented in a broader sense, the story lines took me on stronger thanbefore and the great acting lifted the whole series up a notch.Or eventwo. In my opinion, season two was the best out of the three andespecially the cliffhanger of the second season was excellent. Seasonthree was somewhat different, in the way that the traditional storylines settled down a bit more then before. This resulted in a sometimescompletely different perspective then I was used to with this seriesand in all honesty, was not always satisfactory. However, this show hasnot been dull one moment and the damage is done; you're so much in lovewith the characters that you simply want more then you already have. If you liked the interrelationships between the characters of -forexample- ER, you'll like this. The medical cases are nice, but not themost interesting within the range of medical series. The drama is whatshould take you on and if it does, you'll see a series with excellentacting, nice story lines and an addictive setting. If you add that upwith the superb mix of soap themes and strong, well acted drama you'llknow that this show holds a promising future and is well worth theinvestment of your time.

It really didn't take much time for the Americans to imitate southAmerican series. the people who talks in favor about this soap operamust be women that are captured by this nonsense; because I cannot bearthat a man actually like this crap, unless of course, there would beany gay around. but lets get the obvious thing out of this. Before I started this review, I painfully had to watch this soap opera, and thanks God that my senses were not destroyed, and after 15 minutesof torture I turned off the TV (I almost threw the TV out of mywindow), but I grasped the necessary to write a fair essay. so, let'sbegin with the actors: first of all they are B or even C list actors, which means that any high-budget producer would NEVER think about them.thus, these actors's characteristics are lame, insipid, stupid, boring, unreal, superficial , and so on. As for women, the director attemptsthat these stupid female actors look beautiful, hot and gorgeous, butthe director fails thoroughly. I am not a chauvinist, but they're ugly,it's a fact. but of course, some of you must be yelling at me sayingthat all is about acting, and it's true, but unfortunately for them, they too lack of that quality. well,,, now the male actors: what can Isay about them!!! none of them are really important. they're justuseless ornaments in this disastrous scenery. thus, all these actorsmust be reading these reviews since deep inside they know that thisshow is needles and superfluous. so, do us a favor, please tell theproducers to stop this TV abomination!!! Finally we have the writerswho were supposed to achieve something great in the dialog but the onlything they can accomplish is garbage. what else can I say? oh yes...this is supposed to be a show about doctors and patients, but they onlyfocus on their insipid sexual relationship that nobody cares about. In short: it's funny, that a show try to be a good drama with "intenselines and emotional faces (like the stupid blonde that never changesher expressions)" displaying the lives of doctors, ends up exposing anempty television program. as conclusion, the producers wanted to createsomething original like House MD, but all they could get out of the hatwas trash.

Sick, just sick, according to this TV-drama life sucks. I'm a MD myselfand the content is straight for Hollywood, everybody makes love toeverybody, the ones we love are dying away, well could watch TheHollywood Reporter instead! We just finished the second season, I mustadmit that I keep on watching, hoping that at least something goesbetter, but...it's getting worse & worse. Maybe we should lower thetherapeutic costs for the writer, then we could have the chance to geta little more hope that it is worth to live ans work as a doctor. Whymust everything concerning medicine be cynical & stupid(like Scrubs) orchaotic negative (like ER). Is this what you want to see as a revengefor the US-medical insurance system? Give you a completely wrong viewof the hospital system, plenty of brainless prejudices. The firstepisode was hard and out of reality, after some smalltalk and lovematters the depression goes on. If you ever failed getting on a medicaluniversity, you will like it, as it shows you a wrong life nobody wouldchoose, if not completely insane. The best answer to the jealousytowards MDs. The best serial if you like getting depressed...

My favorite episodes of Grey's Anatomy are the ones with DennyDuquette! The reason I like these the most is because he has an LVADwhich my grandmother has, we live in Chattanooga and they are notcommon at all around here, she it a patient at a hospital in Birminghamso I thought it was really cool to see someone on TV with one (Ofcourse I know the man in real life does not have one. My favoriteepisode would have to be the one where Izzie cuts the LVAD wiresbecause she has to hand pump him and eventually the LVAD's go bad andyou have to hand pump anyway until you get to the hospital to bereplaced and I will be the one who has to do that so I thought it wascool to see Izzie doing something I will have to do sometime within thenext 4 or 5 months because the pumps only last up to 2 years! butanyway I just wanted to tell you all why those are my favorite episodesare

Two words (in conjunction form, nonetheless) best describe "Grey'sAnatomy": Over-Hyped.This show is alright, at best. It covers the same ground as "Scrubs,"that being medical/surgical interns, and while "Scrubs" can becriticized for being too wacky or hokey at times, for my money it dealswith the material far better than "Grey's Anatomy." "Grey's Anatomy" does several things, none particularly well. When ittries for comedy it is unfunny, sterilized, predictable, and just notthat memorable. When it tries for drama it gets melodrama andpredictable tired melodrama at that. If you have a show that revolvesaround a HOSPITAL, and need to (or indeed, choose to) rely onrelationship drama then you've done something wrong. The characters are either uninteresting stereotypes, try hard kooks, orunsympathetic whiners. The key offender is the title character MeredithGrey (har har, it's called "Grey's Anatomy"). Devoid of humour, proneto unnecessary and irritating introspection and rife with faux deepthshe is a protagonist that just isn't very likable. The conceit of having her narrate the show does not work very well. Tobe completely fair, it is a hard structure to pull off in television, and I don't think it works in pretty much any show that tries it(notable exception being the previously mentioned "Scrubs" but mostlybecause they are willing to poke fun via meta-narrative elements, andhave the commitment to make it work). In "Grey's" however it simplyserves to add gravitas to the events of the episode, presumably so thatthe slower viewers who missed the relevance of the show can join in onthe lesson. I can understand this, but the summing up in "Grey'sAnatomy" thinks too much of itself, and tries to hard as often as ithits the mark. The show also shamelessly panders to the female audience, withunrealistic male characters that always seem secondary at best. I'mfully aware that this is done, more often, in the reverse, but itshould be noted that it is just as lamentable when a show isunapologetically 'guy-centric,' with unrealistic female characters.Pandering to any particular gender stereotype to forge a deeperconnection to the audience via exclusionary methods is a Bad Thing, andan "olol guys suck" attitude is just as bad as an attitude that treatswomen as eye-candy. Both treat the characters as useless caricatures, and I think we need to see less of it in general. It may seem like from what I've said that I hate "Grey's Anatomy" orthat I think it is an awful show. That's not true. It's not awful.Sometimes it can be fairly chuckle worthy, and sometimes the dramaworks extremely well, and sometimes you really feel for poor Meredith'splight. Also, I personally love Seattle as a setting, is it just me oris LA/New York getting sort of tired. The problem is it doesn't do anyof these things enough to warrant all the praise that is getting heapedon it. It's an alright show, not great, but not terrible. There'scertainly a lot worse on TV right now. A LOT worse. But there's alsobetter, in the medical drama genre, and elsewhere.

Well I only wrote once something about something here (2012 - stupidmovie) so this is my second "personal opinion and review" .. Aftermarathon watching this TV show 7 seasons in 15 days I had to write andshare something.. I wanted to do it from season one but, too lazy..for so long I did not want to watch this, but finally I took a shot..All in all show is not bad at all.. There are some really interestingcharacters, great situations, good acting.. BUT.. Reason why I had towrite this is review is "Main character" and the TV shows name GREYSanatomy..This show could be SOOO MUCH better without this ugly, repulsive, annoying, irritating creature - Ellen Pompeo.. My god !! What whereproducers thinking ?!?!?! I am saying again - 7 SEASONS I am trying sohard to like her, trying to find at least ONE good thing about her andher appearance/acting but useless.. I don't understand..I really don't,so if someone can explain to me why this "actor" is irritating peoplefor 7 seasons please answer me.. So many good actors in the show whichI really enjoy to watch and this idiot has to ruin it all whit her-trying to act, ugly face and terrible voice... ufffffI can bet that 95% of people (women) here would be SO much better inthis role than she is !! I don't know what else to say and not torepeat myself, how much she is terrible and that I hope that I willNEVER again have to see this retard on any TV screen again..I apologize to everyone here if I am "over the line" but I had to say(at least one more time) what retard she is and she is a "lead role" inshow... Can't believe..

According to Ellen (meredith) in the Feb 20-26 issue of TV Guide shesays "One of the interns is leaving the program.Whoever it is knowsalready- I just know its not me." Who do u think it will be???? I'mthinking maybe Alex???? anyone else have any ideas??? He doesn't play areally big role in the show but talk about sex and hit on every femalein sight and if u have been watching since the beginning he wasn'tapart of Baileys interns to begin with he was switched in. And thisweek episode the heart patient comes back and makes a date with Izzieso his role of being hot and heavy with Izzie seem to be numbered. buthey its just a guess tell me what you guys think!!!

'Grey's Anatomy' started off with a bang. Unforgettably witty lines, strong acting, and clever writing mark the first season as the show atits best. The characters are realistic and even the most shallow of thebunch eventually grow on the viewer. Patrick Dempsey in particularshines through as the charming Dr. "McDreamy". Notable performances arealso delivered by Chandra Wilson, T.R. Knight, and Sandra Oh, althoughthe rest of the cast generally holds their own as well. The cast doeswell taking us through the potentially dramatic (and highly fantasized)ups and downs of life as a medical professional. It could be argued that just as important as the humor and drama is theshow's soundtrack. We're treated to a variety of largely independentartists that otherwise wouldn't find the ears of a mainstream audience. The songs are carefully selected based not only on whether or notthey're good songs, but whether or not they actually fit the scenesthey're in. And it shows. Poor song choices can easily ruin a sceneand, luckily, 'Grey's Anatomy' has yet to do so.Unfortunately, the following seasons have not lived up to theexpectations set by the first season. The second season was still good, although the show quickly began to lose its novelty about halfwaythrough. The third season was a complete disaster, marked by poorwriting choices. 'Grey's Anatomy' essentially became a younger, hipperversion of 'General Hospital'. Although the acting and music remainedstrong, no amount of wit and charm could save the show from its owndestructive, overly unrealistic writing. We can only suspend ourdisbelief for so long before seemingly random declarations of love andan unhealthy number of bombs and major accidents will begin to wear onus. The fourth season seems to have breathed a bit of new life into a dyingseries, bringing back some of the magic of the first season. However,it might not be enough to salvage the mess of the third season and thelatter part of the second.Regardless, if you're looking for mindless enjoyment, you can't gowrong with 'Grey's Anatomy'.

I'm not usually into medical shows, but I enjoy Grey's Anatomy becauseof the characters and the soap-opera style story lines. I like findingout what characters are hooking up, breaking up, how relationshipsbetween them develop and how they deal with family situations. I alsoreally enjoy the comedic writing on the show and Grey's has it inspades. I won't lie, it also doesn't hurt that there's some pretty goodeye candy in the cast. Some of the acting is a bit shaky here andthere, but there are some strong performances put on, especially bySandra Oh as intern Cristina Yang. Even though, as I said earlier, I'mnot usually into medical shows, I find myself almost intrigued by themedical aspect of the show.

At the beginning, I didn't think I would like this show. I've been adaytime (and night-time, in the 80's) soap fan of long standing, andwas getting off on Desperate Housewives, when GA came on the screen. Atfirst glance, it seemed like yet another lame attempt at "diversity"for diversity's sake and besides, who needed yet another medical drama? But.Like a train wreck, I couldn't take my eyes off the scene. The actingseemed competent, as did the directing, yet there was clearly somethingmore at work here. It took a few weeks before I actually watched anentire episode from start to finish, and soon after, GA joined themust-see list and was added to my weekly DVR rotation.Simply put, this show brings out nearly every emotion that televisionis capable of conjuring up. It's been described as a medical soap, andyes, that is accurate, but it goes beyond that. As with a soap, westart to care more and more about the characters, and each one is wellfleshed out. Even newcomers can join the cast and are quickly graftedonto the whole. The level of drama has reached some incredible heights, what with the "code black" double episode of a few weeks back. Youstart to wonder if they can top themselves. Somehow, I think they will. The season finale promises to do just that. If you are new to GA, Isuggest you record this show before viewing. The dialog and actionsometimes moves at a frenetic pace and you will miss key elements ifyour mind wanders even for ten seconds. At this point, I cannot imagine my television viewing without Meredith,Yang, Burke, Shepard, O'Malley, Bailey, et al. Far beyond merelycompetent actors, they seem like old friends after less than a year.ABC has created something wonderful here. I just hope it can last.

I admit it, I'm addicted to this show, despite my concerns about howhealth care providers are presented to the public. How awful thatcalling a doctor a nurse provided such disgust and anger that thecomeback was "Who is the pig that called her a nurse??" As a nurse, Iwas repelled and frustrated by not only this characterization of nursesbut the fact that nurses are rarely significant members of the healthcare team. I know, I know, this is fiction and a show about doctors, but it's remarkable how often physicians are showed providing nursingcare - must be important if they do it, no?? Don't know why I keepwatching but there is something about the individual characters thathas me hooked....must be a weakness here somewhere....

Now let me tall you that "Grey's anatomy" is one of my student'sfavorite subject when analyzing a moral matter. I'm teachings ethicsand applied ethics at a Romanian University and find the movie veryinspiring for my seminars. Emotional and thoughtful, funny and sad, realistic and romantic as well, tragic and full of real life'sdilemmas...a complex world with whom each of us is dealing from time totime. most of all i like that the characters are never jus "bad" orjust "good", each of them has his/her own goodness or black side, because life is indeed, in its options, an antinomy. But speaking just as a big fan of this TV series, of course Meredith ismy favorite an I hope she gets "McDreamy" aka Dr. Shepard :)Just watch these series...you'll get to learn a lot.

Romantic! Addictive! Outstanding: These are the three words to describeGrey's Anatomy. This show made me addicted in its first few episodesand i watch the whole five season in a month. If you think this is another boring medical show like ER or ChicagoHope you are so wrong!First of all this is not a hospital drama about treating patients it isabout the doctors and their personal lives. This series makes you cry so hard in some episodes. Actors are doingtheir job well.Grey's Anatomy took all the attention from other hospital dramas andeveryone's idea of medical drama has changed. You have to see it, youhave to see it now! Start from the very first episode! What do youwaiting? Best Season: Season 2 9.8/10.

omg! grey's anatomy is by far my favorite show ever. i've been obsessedsince the beginning of it. when i told my friends about the episodeabout the heart on fire and the pregnant man they thought i was crazyfor watching something like that, but a couple episodes later i madethem watch it and they ended up loving it and being obsessed. it'skinda sad but grey's anatomy is my life. grey's anatomy was thehighlight of my weekend. now it will be the highlight of my thursdays.there's no doubt about i won't miss one episode and i'm definitelygoing to get the 2nd season on DVD and i already have a Dr. McDreamyt-shirt. people tell me this show is stupid but nothing will stop mefrom watching it. a lot of my friends whose parents are doctors saythat the show is stupid because none of it can happen but some of itcan... but even if it can't it's still entertaining!! if you don'twatch grey's anatomy you should definitely start..you'll love it!!

I enjoy this hospital drama and I hope that Ms. Oh's character stayscool and aloof in future episodes to give this show an "edge", it'sgetting a bit predictable but I still Tivo it each week. I really lovethat her character is so cold. I want her to remain that way and Idon't want the unplanned pregnancy to change her. I don't want hershedding tears after she keeps her appointment. I don't want the "redstates" to be satisfied that she came to her senses! Stay edgy! Wouldn't it be great if the George character and the Izzy character got"involved"? How about Meredith ditching the lying Dr. Feelgood andgoing out with Syph Alex, after his penicillin treatments! What ifMeredith puts on a few lbs? She's as skinny as Ally McBeal! I would love to obtain the soundtrack to this show, I enjoy the newmusic and artists. Is there a soundtrack CD or a list of the songsplayed somewhere and how may I access it? Many thanks! Kath

I love shows, I saw all of prison break, almost all of heroes, all of oc etc but every show seemed to get worse as more seasons came. Greysanatomy however improved a lot in season 6, new characters, gossip, fights and the ending was so thought through and tensed and bright andsimply perfect and the best season ending I have ever seen before. The Dialogs between all characters are amazing, they are funny butactually make sense which is very rare in shows ( gossip girl ) Irarely right reviews but this show just deserves to get a good review.Keep it up ABC, one of your best shows by far!!Start watching it from s6/5, thought s1,2,3,4 were annoying at times

Perfectly placed after "Desperate Housewives", Grey's is my absolutefavorite show on TV! The main character is Meredith Grey, the daughterof a famous surgeon, Ellis Grey. She is an intern at Seattle GraceHospital and lives with two other interns, George O'Malley and IzzieStevens. They all work under Dr. Bailey, a mean but lovable surgeon. Onthe first episode, Meredith awoke late to her first day at work with aman that she had met the night before. They had spent the nighttogether, and while she hardly knew his name, she rushed off to work.Only later was she horrified to realize that her "one night stand" wasa surgeon at the hospital she was interning at.Derek "McDreamy" Sheperd and her went on to have a great relationship, until we come to realize a while later that Derek is actually marriedto Addison, who appears in the last episode of season one. Addisoncheated on Derek and Derek left her, but they never divorced, andAddison wanted to work things out. Eventually, Derek leaves Meredithfor Addison, even though he clearly is still in love with Meredith.George is in love with Meredith, who eventually sleeps with him, onlyto burst into tears during sex. George was heart broken, and didn'tmove on until he met his now girlfriend Callie, who resents Meredithand Izzie for the way they treat George.Christina Yang (another intern) is a determined, almost cold heartedintern who is living with Preston Burke, a very successful surgeon atSG. Burke and Derek are both competing to eventually replace the Chiefof Surgery. She is best friends with Meredith and the rest.Izzie is a model who once posed in lingerie ads to pay off her studentloans. She was dating Alex Karev (yet another intern) for a while, butafter he cheated on her, she broke things off. She recently fell inlove with her patient Denny, but after she nearly killed him in orderfor him to get a heart transplant, he died in the season two finale(shortly after proposing to her, of course). On the season two finale, Meredith finally starts dating another man,Fin (sp?), her and Dereks veterinarian (they adopted a dog together). At a prom being held at the hospital for a terminal ill 17-year-old,Derek finally realized that he couldn't be without Meredith and theyhave sex in an empty room at the hospital. Merediths current boyfriend,Fin, is a widower and had just told Meredith how he "stopped makingplans" after his wife died, but that since Meredith, he had "startedmaking plans again". After Denny dies, all of the interns sort of freakout, and Fin offers to drive Meredith home. Meredith looks at him, andthen at McDreamy, and it seems that everyone knows whats going on.Derek then calls for Meredith, and the show ends.Thats basically the first two seasons, give or take.

The Network From Nowhere really knocked me for a loop by smacking theviewing audience upside its collective head with THREE strong seriesthat came out winners: "Desperate Housewives" and "LOST" being thefirst two.Now that we are well into the second season for both of those, andtheir story arcs are looking a little 'iffy', it's the third and mostsurprising contender, "Grey's Anatomy", that looks to be the strongestof the bunch. As the follow-up riding on "Housewives'" coattails, I wasready to dismiss it outright as "Ally McBeal in hospital scrubs." Butnot having much else to watch in that time slot, I decided to give it atry, and was I pleasantly shocked! Though there ARE some moments wherethe principal characters come off as self-centered, neurotic and attimes downright eccentric, it never reached the level of absurdity that"Ally" often did, and thank God for that! Ellen Pompeo as Dr. MeredithGrey comes off as likable and probably more self-aware andintrospective than self-absorbed and scatterbrained, though there aremoments you do want to reach into the screen and give her a goodshaking. And good call on the ensemble casting! You really have to give props toany show that FINALLY figures out how to effectively showcase thesweet-and-sour charms of Sandra Oh, who was good enough to elevate asow's ear of a show like "Arli$$," if not to save it. And not tomention give assorted actors who have all been great in projects not upto their talents, the chance to really shine in some very well-writtenroles, and I want to single out Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers,Chandra Wilson and especially T.R. Knight as George, who is reallycoming into his own as this season progresses. Not to snub Isaiah Washington, James Pickens, Jr., Kate Walsh or theso-hot-it's-criminal Patrick Dempsey. Seasoned vets all, it's just goodto see them all land in a nice place where they can do great work withsome sense of job security. (WE HOPE.) Realistic enough to be accessible but not a turn-off, and whimsicallylight enough at other times without straying into "Stefan-the-Frog"territory, (are you listening, David Kelley?), "Grey's" should remainas a dependable Sunday night staple as long as creator/producer ShondaRhimes and her crew are able to continue to strike that balance, andkeep its newfound audience interested and entertained with the trials, tribulations and trysts of the staff at Seattle Grace Hospital.

This has definitely been my highlight of this season, even though itcame in late. The cast is great, and they all work really well together. PatrickDempsey is an amazing actor, and has always been one of my favorites,in everything he's done.I agree with the commenter above, that's it can be seen as a moreserious Scrubs, but I'll add to that and say it's a less boring ER.They're all hospital shows, that's really the only common link betweenthese though. Besides showing the dynamics of the hospital, there's also the subplotof Meredith Grey's mother's illness, that no one who knew herprofessionally knows about. It's interesting to see where this showwill go.I hope it's around for a second season, because it has the promise ofbecoming an amazing show.

Okay so when i was about 7, my dad started watching this show. I knewnothing about medicine and barely understood half the jokes orreferences. Since then, I've absolutely fallen in love with this show.Season 1 started off good(for a mid season air) season 2&3=amazing!,season 4 was also amazing, but just not as good as 2 and 3, then season5 was good but when George died it got me a little mad. Then season 6 ithought was also good but once Izzie wasn't there anymore, just wasn'tthe same. Plus (and don't get me wrong I'm all for gay/lesbianrelationships) but i thought the whole Callie Arizona thing was kind of...weird i guess? because she goes from being all into guys, tocompletely into girls..But i must say, the finale was awesome!!Andfinally..season 7. Not their best work. The story line was good but ijust didn't like how it was mainly about Callie when its Grey'sanatomy. plus, there's no cute Mer/Der scenes
