It's a crude, tasteless, ill-timed, hugely dislikable affair.

Just Go With It is an exercise in stagnation.

We loved this movie!!!

I am so surprised that the reviews on this movie is as low as it is!Iwas a little worried about seeing this movie because the reviews werelow. But don't trust those stars. Read the reviews and it will changeyour mind. We laughed through most of the movie, actually the wholetheater did!! I think it was one of Anistons best. And Sandler washilarious! The kids were cute and funny. If you like to laugh I wouldrecommend this to you! But if you have no sense of humor then don't seeit. I don't want to spoil anything and give to much information. "Just Go with It"...or not.

I wish that I could live in movies. Everything would be so much easier.Sure I would have problems, but they would all be solved in two hoursour less. I would find a beautiful woman and of course there would besome discourse then I would try to deceive her through a series oflies. She would catch me in these lies and we would either a) make upand get back together or b) I find my true love, who was my "PlainJane" friend all along. Regardless we would live happily ever after...until the sequel where we have kids and something zany would bound tohappen. "Just Go with It" is the newest comedy starring Adam Sandler andJennifer Aniston. Sandler plays Danny, an immature, unprofessionalplastic surgeon in Beverly Hills. He had his heart broken years agoright before his wedding. He called the wedding off; now single, hewears his wedding band to the bars. Here he finds attractive women andconvinces them that he is in an awful marriage. The random women feelsorry for him then automatically sleep with him (note to self: buy awedding band today). He does this for 23 years; think about it - 23years of one-night stands. Danny finally meets the girl of his dreams, Palmer (played by BrooklynDecker), at a party. She is a perfect "10" and she sleeps with himwithout even seeing his phony wedding band (note to self: go to moreparties). When they awake, she finds his wedding band and thinks he ismarried. Palmer is 23 years old. This means when Danny started sleepingwith random women, Palmer was in diapers. Does any one else find thatcreepy? Since Danny has deep feelings for this particular one-night stand, hestarts lying to her in order to keep her. His office assistant,Katherine (Played by Aniston) helps him in the lie by pretending to beDanny's soon-to-be ex-wife. Palmer wants to meet Danny's future ex-wifebecause of some issues she had with her own parents' divorce. They allmeet at a restaurant where they don't talk about the divorce; it'sfrankly five minutes of Danny and Katherine insulting each other abouttheir phony marriage that is about to end in a phony divorce. The interaction between the three is almost done when Katherinereceives a call from her kids and now Palmer wants to meet Danny'sphony kids. Now we have to drag two kids into this web of lies. Thisstoryline added some much needed fresh talent. The young actress,Bailee Madison who plays the daughter, did a wonderful job of pullingthe spotlight onto herself since Aniston and Sandler weren't doing muchto move out of their own comfort zone. One lie leads to the next and they all end up in Hawaii. While on animpromptu family vacation with Danny, his girlfriend, his phonysoon-to-be ex-wife, her phony soon-to-be husband (played by NickSwardson) and the phony kids, the headache is getting bigger and thejokes are falling flatter. Through rampant coincidence the phony couplemeets Katherine's old sorority sister and her husband (played by NicoleKidman and Dave Matthews). Now we are presented a whole new lie and nota lot of fresh jokes to make it worth our time. The entire story snowballs up to the part that the audience saw comingfrom about 15 minutes into the film. Danny soon finds who he shouldreally be with; it shouldn't be much of a surprise if you have beenfollowing along. Should you see this movie? No, it's just another Sandler film. If youare a die-hard Sandler fan you will probably see it regardless. Helikes to find one joke and hold onto it through the film. Let it go,man; just because you talk in a funny voice doesn't mean you should doit all the time.

The 2000's are not for Adam Sandler

Oh, the infamous fall of Adam Sandler! In the early 90's, he played insome of the funniest movies I've ever seen: Waterboy, Billy Madison,Happy Gilmore, and Big Daddy. His latest movies: You Don't Mess WithThe Zohan, Bedtime Stories, and Just Go With It, have been terrible. This movie had a decent story plot and had lots of opportunities tomake it hilarious. But they failed. Bad casting (I hated those kidactors: Not Cute, annoying, and were unlikeable brats, and whathappened to Rob Schneider being in all of Adam's movies?) Nick Swarsdonwas the funniest man in the movie, unlike Jennifer Aniston and Adam. Icringed in my seat when I saw the guy from the Dave Matthews Bandplaying the husband of Debland. Now let's focus on the comedy. I hardly laughed at all during thismovie, and especially not at any of Adam's jokes. The slapstick andpredictable humor was all in here, when he was hit in the private area. The only exception was Nick Swarsdon. Truly funny guy, and I think hedid a great job. The only I part of the movie where I chuckled was whenhe picked the ball up with his butt. That's it.Adam, here is my advice. You can make more of these horrible movies, goto SNL again, or become a writer / director. Your acting career is onthe downhill slide. Try to find the originality of your first movies. This movie, Just Go With It, has a alternate title: Don't Go To It.

Better than expected

First of all, it is an Adam Sandler movie. If you hate Adam Sandlermovies, then you won't like this.I gave it an 8/10 because it was one of the better Adam Sandler movies. The plot and storyline was better than I expected; the development waspretty good as well. There were definitely a lot of points where I hadto slap my forehead b/c it was silly funny.Yeah, its highly unrealistic, but if you expected realism, whats wrongwith you? Sure, Jennifer Anniston is the "uglier chick," which is likesaying a million dollars isn't that much money, but she did a good jobin the movie. The only complaint I had was Adam Sandler used all the lines I plannedon using with the girl I took to see it!

really fun!!

Jennifer Aniston is great in comedies. She has perfect mimics and gestures and seeing her as a mother of two was a nice change. The children were perfect casts as was cousin Eddie. Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston make a perfect couple and I was laughing all throughout the movie. I think the two of them should do another movie together. Nicole Kidman and Dave Matthews were hilarious and Brooklyn Decker is simply just gorgeous. Best summer flick I've watched for a long time..

Quite possibly the worst movie ever made.

This review is from: Just Go With It (Amazon Instant Video) If I this were a theater I would have walked out and gotten a refund. It was predictable, dumb and the lowest common denominator of funny. poop jokes, really? And I am a fan of Jennifer. And Adam. But come on! So blondie is the one he thinks he wants but oh wait no! plain jane (yeah, right) Catherine (Jennifer) is the one he comes to realize was what?! Right there under his nose and the one her really loves. BORING. I knew it would be essentially that story anyway but I thought there might be some funny lines or cute parts. NONE. I bet they both drop this title off of their resumes like it never happened.

The Adam Sandler Formula Works Again

Just saw at this an advanced screening in Huntington Beach. It was pretty damn good. I do have to admit that I am an Adam Sandlerfan. Being 21, I grew up seeing his films in theaters and for the mostpart liked them all. I think with Big Daddy, Dennis Dugan and AdamSandler's Happy Madison crew really started a formula of movie. Centralconflicted and imperfect character Adam (who has a good heart ofcourse), falls in love with the girl of his dreams, who is younger andway better looking than him, all formulated around a specific centralpremise (i.e. with this film it's Adam's lies piling on top of lies)supported by extremely strong, quirky side character performances. Thismight be the epitome of this established formula, really passing 50First Dates in my opinion. The typical Sandler ridiculous humor andsmart-ass remarks are extremely well balanced with perfectly timed andexecuted emotional moments. The set-up for the story is pretty basicand at first almost appears predictable. It is to some extent, but thecrazy directions the movie takes based on Sandler's lies is well doneand only stretches a few times. But what do you expect from the HappyMadison crew? The 2 kids in the film did a good job and had some funny lines. I amnot a Jennifer Aniston fan at all but really actually liked her inthis. I sort of understand her popularity and charm after this movie. She seemed more genuine and I felt an emotional attachment to her thatI have always lacked with her. Plus, she is showcased in a particularwaterfall scene and looks absolutely fantastic in a bikini. BrooklynDecker is unbelievably gorgeous, as we all know from the SI SwimsuitEdition, but I was very surprised at how natural of an actress she was.She seemed very comfortable and didn't overact much. She is extremelycute and lovable. Nicole Kidman and Dave Mathews were great as an ubercool couple. Nicole was a bit over the top as she has been of late(like since Moulin Rouge), but thats what her character called for so Iunderstand. Dave was surprisingly good as an almost drugged up yuppie, cool boyfriend of Nicole's. Nick Swardson was absolutely hilarious andby far steals every scene he is in. He really comes into the movieabout 1/3 of the way in and from there on out its his movie. NickSwardson deserves fame for this.I can't say for sure how the critics will receive it. I can handlesuspension of disbelief as long as it leads to a funny payoff. For themost part these moments are delivered. It's a great date movie and agreat movie for Sandler fans. He has an unbelievable recent trackrecord for success, but this will top all of them at the box office.

Aniston/Sandler Comic Chemistry Made This a Solid 4-Star For Me

This film reminded me how funny both Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler can be - neither has been in a film lately that really showcased that. Aniston really is a brilliant comedic actress, I think that gets lost sometimes in discussions of her. Her timing and facial expressions are excellent, and in the first half of this film especially, I thought she put that to good use and was very funny (and lifted Sandler up too - his humor is not usually my style.)The basic plot (as has already been described in other reviews) is that she has worked as the long-time office manager to Adam Sandler's plastic surgeon, and knows him better than anyone else. He's a player who wears a wedding ring to bars and tells girls sad stories of his mean (fake) wife to seduce them. A stupid plot yes, but that's true of most rom-coms, so personally I forgave it. The twist comes when he meets a girl he actually thinks he wants to be with long-term, and has to somehow work through his lie. He asks Aniston to play his soon-to-be ex-wife, and from there all sorts of ridiculous chaos and misunderstandings ensue. Aniston and Sandler are the heart of the film, and as I said, I think they are great together in the first half, when they are playing off each other to pull off this duplicity. As the film turns more romantic, their chemistry isn't quite as strong, but there are still some great moments. Nicole Kidman and Dave Matthews (not sure how that came about) cameo, and have some funny moments also. There's plenty of jokes that fall flat, and the plot is of course absurd, but overall, this gave me 4-stars worth of laughs.

Chaos In Hawaii

On the surface "Just Go With It" is just another Adam Sandler critichate fest, however, Sandler is one of the best modern comedians andbrings home the laughs once again. The film is actually based on the1969 film "Cactus Flower" which received its roots from the French play"Fleur de cactus". However, besides the basic plot outline, AdamSandler's version is vastly different including his trademark crazy, rude, over the top humor. Needless to say Sandler has not lost his way.Sandler's character Danny Maccabee has his heart broken by his fiancéon his wedding day. This leads him to a bar where he is found sulkingwhile still wearing his wedding ring. He discovers that while everyother guy in the bar strikes out attempting to hit on Joanna Damon(Minka Kelly, "The Roommate", "Gossip Girl"), his wedding ring attractsher to him. This combined with a made up story about how his wife beatshim makes her feel bad for him and ultimately sleeping with him. Hissuccess leads him to continue his scheme even after becoming a wealthyplastic surgeon, until he meets a woman named Palmer (Brooklyn Decker). She gets extremely upset after finding his wedding ring in his pocketthe morning after sleeping with him demanding an explanation. He tellsher that he is in the process of getting a divorce and asks his bestlady friend and assistant Katherine Murphy (Jennifer Anistan) to act asif she was his wife (soon to be ex). His lie grows more and more thatDanny convinces Katherine's kids, Maggie (Bailee Madison, "Brothers")and Michael (Griffin Gluck) to play the role of his kids. Everythingculminates in a "family" trip to Chaos Hawaii with Danny, Palmer,Katherine, Maggie, Michael and Danny's cousin Eddie (Nick Swardson),where (throughout the chaos) Danny finds out that his heart is actuallytaking him towards the woman that knows him best.Adam Sandler has been creating very unique romantic comedies for yearsthat are able to reach out to a wider audience. "Just Go With It" ismost definitely a romantic comedy, however, it does not stick it inyour face. Instead the film slowly lets the viewer know that therom-com is there allowing it to have a lot of fun. This is alsoachieved by creating characters that are all very likable and notstereotypical. Even Katherine's nemesis, Devlin, played by NicoleKidman turns out to be a very likable character. Lastly, what doesevery Adam Sandler film need? Well Adam Sandler' mastery of creatinggood entertainment. The film starts off on a really weak note with very little relevance tothe rest of the film. After the opening segment relevance grows, however, the film doesn't really get going until the whole "family"goes to Hawaii. This creates a very stereotypical cliché experience.Everything in the film has been done before leaving no surprises exceptsome random undeveloped comical interjections which have become apattern in the past couple years. The film's ending is very predictable, however, Director Dennis Dugandoes not throw it in your face allowing the viewer to enjoy the humorof Adam Sandler. This is one of the most entertaining comedies that hascome out in a while so "Just Go To It" now.

A Definite 2 thumbs up!!!

This movie is so much fun! If you're looking for a funny movie that will keep you laughing for days after, then this is it!

Surprisingly Entertaining

This was one of the best for Jennifer Aniston, probably because her character was so likable and believable. This was one of her best performances since Rachel on "Friends". Adam Sandler is who he is, and I think he's at his charming best when he plays off kids. He has a great chemistry with them, and his humor has to stay more childlike potty type humor as opposed to offensive sexual stuff (which is not my favorite).I really laughed out loud a lot, and just had a great time. Seeing scenes of Hawaii in the middle of this awful winter was relaxing fun. The situation comedy worked well all around. So go see it and laugh and have fun!

A Rip Off of a couple of other movies, very disappointing

This review is from: Just Go With It (DVD) This is probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. They apparently tried to make it "funny" by just adding more outrageous, totally stupid things. The whole plot idea, that he is a chronic liar to women, is pretty much a rip off of his character at the beginning of "50 First Dates" but much less funny and a lot more disgusting. In this he continues to lie after he meets a girl he really cares about and has the perfect opportunity to tell her the truth. Instead he continues to pile lie on top of lie, dragging his assistant and her two less than charming children into it, but I guess that was the only way the writers could think of to make the story continue so that they could make the movie. The shopping scene to get a makeover for Jennifer is a ripoff from "Pretty Woman" I noticed that they threw in Hawaii just to try to make it more interesting and that's another rip off of "50 First Dates" which was filmed there. I guess Sandler just wanted to go to Hawaii again. Well, he should have just taken a vacation there.I'm very surprised that Jennifer Anniston ever agreed to be in this totally classless movie. I can't imagine it ever sounded good even on paper.

Gordon-11 (13 May 2012)

The best romantic comedy in years

This film is about a plastic surgeon who lies about being almostdivorced in order to hook up with women. He faces a difficult situationwhen he is asked to live this lie, which rolls increasingly bigger. Many romantic comedies focus on romance and hence is not so funny, but"Just Go With It" is seriously funny and romantic at the same time. There is amazing connection between Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, which is critical for the film's success. There are so many funnyscenes, I laughed so hard at a few of them, such as Palmer being pushedinto the pool and the coconut scene. Nicole Kidman has a small butmemorable role, which sees her in situations (involving the coconut aswell) which I would not have imagined a mega star to agree to filming.Together with the great Hawaiian scenery, lighthearted atmosphere andsweet romance, "Just Go With It" is the best romantic comedy in years.

johnnyfry2 (12 May 2012)

I rarely give a comedy such a high rating...

I have always enjoyed comedies, but I have seen so few truly funnymovies of late. Today's funny movies generally consist of over-vulgarlanguage and humiliation, this movie was not like this. 9 out of 10stars from me, as it delivered more than I expected, and from top tobottom it was a funny and enjoyable film on many fronts.First of all I will say this, if this was a supposed romantic-comedy itwas far more weighted on the comedy than the romance, which isimportant to know if you are like me and not a fan of romantic-comediesin general. I was worried that this movie would be heavy on theromance, which almost always turns a potentially good comedy intosomething cheesy. I want to see such movies to laugh, not for thewatered down romance storyline; this movie didn't go down thatforgettable route as so many other potentially funny movies have. On this note, there is some romance, but even though you knew where itwas going at some point, it remained fresh and even hilarious at times,as the jokes kept coming and there wasn't a 30 minute lull in the movieto fulfill the mandatory boy-meets-girl part of the script.Everyone in the movie did an exceptional job acting, including the kidsin the film, and some actors took some risks for the sake of beingfunny (i.e when Aniston in a bikini, Aniston and Kidman entering thedance contest etc). It was particularly enjoyable to see that theactors didn't take themselves seriously in the role, but they did taketheir acting seriously. Often times I watch a comedy and cringe at theweak commitment to the film, this was not the case here as they allseemed more natural and free flowing, getting full value out of thedialogue. As has been mentioned on here, Nick Swardson seemed to take the reignswith being the central comic-relief character, relying on his antics toget the laughs, and for my money he succeeded. There were about 3-4 scenes in which I absolutely lost myself in thetheatre and everyone else was laughing just the same. If this is anyindication of a good comedy, than this movie over exceededexpectations.

Colin Covert (12 May 2012)

There's not much to be said about the majority of jokes here because my mother taught me not to poke at dead things.

(10 May 2012)

You know what will happen if you saw the trailer, BUT...

...I found it surprisingly funny. It's also a typical Sandler/Dugan collaboration. Not for one minute do you buy the premise or the lengths the characters go to to keep up the subterfuge, but the audience I saw this movie with laughed. And in a comedy, that's always a great thing. So, if you're willing to suspend disbelief and put aside that you've figured out the movie's ending at minute 5, then settle in for some laughs. There's also a pair of surprises in the casting at the half way mark.I should add that a friend did not like this movie and found Aniston's character's two kids to be annoying (and everything is cartoonishly big)and did NOT recommend the movie. I did not see Catus Flower so I can't make a comparison, so those that have may have differing opinions.

Deception-Based Farce Gone Through the Sandler Blender

There is no getting around the fact that Jennifer Aniston is likeable. In the past, she has attempted to be versatile with mixed results (effective in The Good Girl, less so as a temptress in Derailed), but she remains most successful within a limited proximity of her Rachel Green character from the long-running Friends TV series. She's playing another variation of her in this rambunctious 2011 comedy ever so loosely based on the amiable 1969 farce, Cactus Flower starring Walter Matthau, Ingrid Bergman, and Goldie Hawn in her Oscar-winning debut. Believe it or not, Aniston is playing the Bergman role of Katherine, a single mom working as an assistant to Danny, a successful LA plastic surgeon played by Adam Sandler. The fact that Sandler is playing the Matthau role appears to be the primary joke here since he turns the excessively inventive single doctor into one of his standard wiseacre man-boy characters.Directed by Sandler's regular handler Dennis Dugan, the movie opens with a flashback scene in which a pre-nose-job Danny discovers he is about to marry a shrew but soon realizes his gold band is a magnet for hot chicks. He then decides to avoid what he thinks is the inevitable disappointment of commitment by telling every girl he hooks up with that he's married. That ploy changes when he meets a blonde stunner named Palmer. He falls for her, but things start to fall apart when she discovers Danny's gold band in his pocket and assumes he's married. Convinced that Palmer is the one, Danny persuades Katherine to pretend to be his soon-to-be-ex-wife and uses her two manipulative kids as part of the charade. Things go according to formula, including a contrived trip to Hawaii where Katherine runs into a college sorority rival named Devlin, who has been the subject of Katherine's passive-aggressive hostilities all these years. In a bit of stunt casting, Nicole Kidman plays the ultra-competitive Devlin in a comically imperious fashion, while singer/musician Dave Matthews is arbitrarily thrown in the mix as her equally shallow, butt-clenching husband.Even though this comedy is neither as consistently funny nor tightly structured as "Cactus Flower", I have to admit there is a bit of a Cary Grant/Irene Dunne-type of banter between Aniston and Sandler, at least during the first half when Katherine is introduced to Palmer as Danny's confident, materialistic wife (she names herself "Devlin"). These are the scenes that hew closest to the original movie and consequently work the best. Where it flounders is when the two actors need to show they are falling in love. Sandler is a relative blank slate during these more serious moments, and the lack of credibility in their characters' romantic relationship undermines the film. In the Goldie Hawn role, Brooklyn Decker fulfills the physical requirements as Palmer but is unlikely to be up for any Oscars this time next year. Nick Swardson wins my award for the year's most irritating best buddy in a Sandler comedy, especially when he pretends to be Katherine's lover, an Austrian sheep buyer. Sandler's former SNL colleagues Rachel Dratch and an almost unrecognizable Kevin Nealon show up in cameos as two comically unfortunate victims of plastic surgery.
