Lost

this show was good, i enjoyed watching every episode every week, butrecently i found out LOST's major secret, and it has just put me offthe show completely, i mean some of you may think it is a good secret. But for them to put so much effort into making this show, i amdisappointed, i mean they made the storyline so well, and they kept thetwists creative, the show seemed pretty realistic, apart from the'monster' but now it is just stupid. i dunno if a lot of you know butthey did a poll to see what you thought was their major secret was. Thechoices were: It was a government experiment. Everyone is dead. They'rein Hawaii. There are other people on the island. these are a few ofthere questions where, and the secret is one of these

Greatest show ever!!

I followed this show since the first episode and I truly love thisTV-show!! It's a great, quite confusing and mysterious, but definitelyinteresting and genius storyline. Completed get this great idea by agreat cast, with more than fascinating and developing characters!LOST is a show about a plane crash. About a few survivors, who strandon an, how it seems, unknown and completely unoccupied island.Eventually the survivors will find out, that they're not alone. Everyepisode reveals a little bit more about the island, the others (who arethe "offical inhabitants" of the island) and the survivors. Everyepisode centers one of the main characters. In flashbacks the viewergets to know every character, gets a view in his past, all the darksecrets, the connections with the other survivors and the eventualreason of there being on the island. It takes four seasons until six ofthe survivors find a way home. Against all warnings the "Oceanic Six"(which is the name, the press gave the six survivors of the planecrash) leave the island. The Oceanic Six try to live a normal life, which is not possible since their past is following them and theycannot forget their left behind friends. The Oceanic Six find their wayback to the island and are completely surprised, that they arrive 30years in the past. We get to know more secrets of the island. For everyanswered question, are popping thousand new ones up. This TV-Show isdefinitely worth watching!! Never watched something so absorbing andfascinating. I love the character developments, to actually see "real"people and not just the typical stereotypes. I hope we all can enjoythis great show for a long time!! It's definitely worth watching it!

I have never seen a showthat captivates you this much.. I saw the first three series in acouple of days ;)) And now I can't wait for the next episode :X Atfirst you think it's all about the island and they'll get rescued andthe end, but after you start seeing the future scenes in the fourthseason your like.. wooow :P This is like the most complex series, bestidea, maximum thrill.. you actually get LOST if you don't pay attentionto each and every scene :) Congratulations to an incredible series :D

Lost season 2 DVD review

This show is quite an original show with a delightful cast. The show'sbackdrop is amazing set in beautiful Hawaii with large forests andbeautiful beaches. On this DVD you can find an artsy commercial thatwas done for Lost season 1. It really doesn't make much logical sense, but in a artsy way it does. So you can find that on this DVD. I don'twant to give anything away, but I will say that a lot of the plot getstwisted literally in the second season. You will also see some newpeople come in the second season. Sure you can figure all of this outby seeing the interviews and such. This story is a rather complex onethat unravels pretty slow at times so enjoy.

Good, bad and ultimately, indifferent

I hate soap operas. A lot of people say that, then, they spend a fewdays at home, sick, or on a dull vacation watching them and they gethooked. No chance of that ever happening with me. Soap operas havepacing based on commerce. They drag out the goods at a snail's pace soyou can watch the car ads, again and again and again and again. This isthe problem with "Lost". It drags on and on and on and on, due tolimited availability of pertinent information, and an aching desire tosell products. There are flashbacks aplenty. Do they have anything todo with the current plot? That depends on which 'theory site' you goto, and yeah, you definitely need to use one with this show. But "Lost"is not without its merits. The cast is excellent and there is a healthydose of suspense. Terry O'Quinn, in particular, chews scenery likenobody's business, but then he's always been great for that. Why hehasn't gotten more work, is beyond me. Jorge Garcia, as well, isremarkable; he's got real presence, he commands each scene he's in,struggling to give us something to believe in. Everyone is quite goodand the setups are at the very least, intriguing. But the other side ofthe coin contains flying stuffed animals, looking very much like flyingstuffed animals, ridiculous red herrings, plot lines that pop-up, thendisappear for weeks at a time... . You need to be taking notes, believeme. And then, there are the things which make no sense whatsoever, suchas, whatever happened to the bulk of the survivors? All this isstylishly designated to keep you coming back. If it's worked it'smagic, more power to you. I find the whole thing manipulative andultimately annoying, but reserved my opinion until I could watch thefinale, which was frankly, lame and disappointing, framed by more promolies stating, "many questions will be answered". It was busy enough, italso delivered more query and little conclusion. I also wanted toreserve judgment until I could catch up on episodes I may have missed, due to the on again, off again scheduling of the show. I caught myselfup finally, tonight; with the recap of Hurley's story, incidentally, one of the most satisfying episodes I saw. The show has a lot going forit and it knows it, which makes the situation even less endurable, because I am certain, that at the end of next season, we'll still bescratching our heads and wondering what the hell all this is about. Ihate soap operas because I hate being messed with.

Great Concept...

... at first.I managed to watch every episode (possibly with a few exceptions) ofall six seasons of the raved-about series. Whenever I was asked "Do youlike Lost?" I would innocently reply "I haven't seen the whole think, yet." I did not stop after the experiments with magnetism and polarbears, and continued through transporting islands andback-from-the-dead moments. All of it, I sat through, hoping that thelast minute something would be explained (heck, I even sometimes hopedit was all a dream). But, unfortunately, the ending came and I was not impressed. Yes, therewas a lot of symbolism, but I can have Jesus holding a hammer andsickle in front of an eight pointed wheel wearing a two toned skirt andnot know what it means. There was an attempt to make meaning fromsomething that seemed like a mistake. The beginning of the show wastamed and interesting. Strangers meeting on a island from a planecrash. Their backgrounds being shown to us so we can judge how theyhave developed as a human being. We begin seeing how their pathsintersect with one another and why a greater force may have put themhere. The ambiguous title "Lost" was a sense of direction in each oftheir lives at that moment. In the physical sense they have no cluewhere they were, and everyone assumed they were dead, and in aspiritual sense that their lives got in the way of their living. Ifound the plot, at first, to be very focused around the study of thesepeople's actions and how they have shaped them. Yes, I liked Lost andmarveled at the concept... I use the past tense for a reason...It started going very downhill, very. Not only does each character havetheir own personal back story, but now there is a back story of theisland? New characters are introduced with the already large cast? Itolerated it. Civilized people on the island, all seemingly scientists?Okay, maybe they should have slowed down. I did however enjoy Ben'scynical character and how he played out (I guess the sci-fi bull stuffhad some good qualities). But seriously, nobody is fluent in Latin...Anyway, I can't see how I can say this over and over again and not getall my frustration out. Lost use to be a good show, but the writerskept making promises and new fairy tales and eventually were told "Yougotta rap this up soon," so they panicked and make a terrible ending.Yes, the ending is terrible, it's just a bunch of symbolism that iscontradictory and unnecessary. Things didn't add up, so they keptmultiplying. It got out of hand, like it were some unchecked wiki pagewhere people would write new plot lines (flash backs, flash forwards, flash sideways, flash adjacent, flash diagonals, flash afterlives, flash medievals). They ruined what could have been a wondrous journey through the livesof strangers. They ruined it, ruined it, ruined. I only gave it a 3/10because they started with something beautiful, lost people, and endingwith something ugly, lost plot direction...

LOST: Mysterious, Exciting, Creepy, Funny & Above All...Amazing.

You read it in the title. LOST is a show like no other. From thedescriptions you've read and trailers you've watched, it may comeacross as your regular American TV Show. But, as mentioned varioustimes now, it really isn't.It all kicks off with an extremely dramatic Pilot episode. Probably oneof the most intense Pilots of all time. We see a plane crash on anisland, some people emotionally crumble, others are determined to helpthe ones more in need (pregnant women etc.),and some completelyirrelevant characters die. It's all quite sad and to be fair does putyou off flying a bit, but it's still a brilliant way to kick off ashow. There are 48 survivors, some are praying for rescue, othersrealising they may not get off the island as soon as they hope. Eitherway, characters start to develop and we begin to see different sides tomany of them. Before you know it all manor of things start to happen. Iwon't include any spoilers, but many gripping events arise and you'llbe hooked in no time. There's no denying LOST is extremely gripping; Istarted watching the first couple of episodes at my friends' house, then found myself ordering the entire box set a few months later. Many people seem to think that LOST has too many unrealistic storiesbegin to evolve. This is true, they're very unlikely happenings (lotsto do with involving electromagnetism and science), but how could theykeep the TV show entertaining for 6 seasons if all they did was walkaround on the beach? Something had to happen sooner or later. Peopleare just being picky about it, if you're dedicated enough you'll seethrough the 'ridiculous' stages. To be fair, Season 4 is quite weak (inmy opinion), but seasons 5 & 6 make up for it ten fold. LOST endsbrilliantly, and quite unexpectedly. To conclude, LOST is a very unique TV show. Just some of the words todescribe it are: intriguing, shocking, exciting, jaw-dropping,entertaining, mysterious, funny, iconic and just plain brilliant.Definitely watch it if you're interested in dark or mysterious TVshows, TV shows that strongly focus on character development & settingdevelopment, shows that love piling the secrets up and answering themin later series, and generally anyone who has a good taste in TV atall; we can all relate to it in some way. Once you start it, LOST will become part of your television life, itwill make you laugh, make you sad, and literally make your jaw drop. And one thing's for sure: once you're finished with it, you probablywon't know what to do with yourself for a while. 10/10 - Outstanding.

Disappointment this season

I considered "Lost" to be one of the best series on television in yearsbut this year has become a dud. Not because of the story line orcharacters but because of the continual repeats on Wednesday night. Ino longer want to waste my time waiting for this show to air only todiscover it is a repeat in the middle of the season. Then I discoveredit is on again on Saturdays. So in effect we have two choices to watcha repeat. What a marketing disaster for such a wonderful show. I havebeen a loyal fan of "Lost" and cannot understand the logic or reasoningbehind the season lineup. It seems someone is out to destroy thisseries. I cannot believe I am the only one upset about the way this hasbeen dealt with this year.

Lost is the best show ever made for television

Well I never originally had time to start watching Lost even though itlooked extremely interesting. My boyfriend recently started watching itwith me (he has the first season). So I am only on the first season andALREADY and truly addicted to this! It is amazing and leaves me wantingmore. I rate a 10. The Best show on TV since the dawn of age. Thecharacters are definitely top-notch and the variety is amazing. Fromthe foreign couple to the others, it tells a true story of everydaylives and what could truly happen on a plane. But besides just theplane crash, the story goes deeper. Deep into personal lives and whateveryone of them has been through and what they did before getting onthat plane. It is a mystery I am still excited to figure out. I neverwant this to end. Down right thrilling on every episode!

Opium for the masses

This is a good fun, relatively little swearing and quite comedicseries. The characters are strong clichés with a subtle psychologicalundertone for each plot thread. I don't think its wildly original, justplain old 'bizarre' in a new carrier bag. Lot of metaphors for lifethrown in various guises, good ethical and 'how would you make a newcivilisation' questions. So far I'm surprised at how little murder andrape there hasn't been?! I guess these are very humane humans...typicalSydney to California commuters...open minded, comforting types. You'reOK, I'm OK with a plastic surgeon and a therapist, type of thing. Its a total drug and had more success than certain Imperialist armiesin the shock and awe dept, certainly won a lot more hearts n minds. Itsvery easy to get sucked into the world of Lost and turn a blind eye tothe quite impossibly well kept beard hair that continues to growperfectly trimmed on all the mens faces. It is as American as Apple Piebut I love it and I need my fix of opium every now and again, keepsthings from being too complex out there in the real world.

brad12d3 (10 May 2012)

Words can't describe...

how brilliant this show is. I put off watching it because I just nevergot into TV shows. I watch a ton of movies but very rarely watch anyshows on television because they never really grab me. Lost is a raregem, especially for a television show. You could have grouped up everytwo shows and released them in theaters as movies and it would havebeen worth the ticket price to go see them. Many films fail to reachthe bar that Lost has raised for television. I just started watchingthe first season through netflix and I am almost done with the season. There are 25 episodes and I just finished number 20. Not only is thisan incredibly well shot show, but the story is simply breathtaking. Thewriters really fleshed out an enormous narrative, and the complexity ofthe story and characters is astounding. I have not reached a part ofthe narrative where I felt the story became the slightest bit stale. Idon't know how else to describe this show apart from I believe it isone of the few masterpieces of film and television this generation. Ifyou have not seen it, then do. You will not be disappointed.

One of the best

Lost is ample proof that a good show or series doesn't need a lot ofspecial effects, flashing lights and monotonous drum loops toartificially build up tension. A good show, and we all know that exceptcertain producers, needs good acting, good scripting, an exciting ideaand a feeling for mystery on part of all involved. It also needs atleast one fantastic woman, between 19-30 (those above 30 are alsoeligible, I am being ironic here). Anyway, Lost has a winner inEvangeline Lilly of course. But all of the actors are good, here, andthe photography makes one feel that one is on location personally. Whatelse? A slowly creeping tension. Ambivalent characters, as is thestandard these days. Strange symbols, hidden agendas… we all rememberthat from Alias. And its is also there in Smallville and Heroes. ButLost has its own character in making everyday people seem not thateveryday. They don't need superpowers to be fascinating, a sign thatthe writing is good. And the juxtaposition of what happens now withflashbacks to the character's past really works, for once. (It usuallyis a drag, men not here, where it does add depth and further mystery –especially to Evangeline's character.) I hope this one will run fornumber of additional seasons, that the writers will find a way ofexpanding on their mystery concept. But will the one-to-be conclusionfail as it did in the otherwise admirable Alias? It is after all easierto construct a mystery than to resolve it satisfactorily. – And yes, Iwant to see Rachel Nichols on the beach here. Evangeline needscompetition! - One final note. Sci-fi used to be a marginal phenomenonin the world, and when it did appear on television it was at firstregarded as somewhat nerdy and silly. But if one includes borderlineSF, one finds that half a dozen (more in fact) of today's hit shows aresci-fi, or sci-fi-related. No wonder, we live in a science fictionworld these days. And yet, the main point of Lost is, I repeat, thatone finds oneself to be there, on that beach, hurrying through thatnasty vegetation, happy to find water. It is not realistic, of course, but real.

1st Season

I got hooked on this show by my dad. All season long, he kept asking meif I had watched the show, I kept saying no. Well, he bought me the 1stseason on DVD for Christmas. All I can say is, I watched the entireseason in just a few days. This show is very addicting. I will have towait now to see Season 2 since I doubt TV will play the reruns insequence. I don't know what I am going to do! LOL This is a great show, with terrific actors and the suspense, mystery and drama make the storyplot an excellent one! Any suggestions on how I can see the secondseason in order without waiting for them to come out on DVD? WOW! Whatam I going to do? I cannot wait without losing sleep. I have never beenso addicted to a TV show before. I would like to say that Hurley is ariot and although Sawyer appears to be a bad boy, I really think he hasa good heart.

Jonwynn12 (07 May 2012)

LOST the best show on Earth

This is simply a show not to be missed, it keeps you gripped for monthson end. I am a Lost geek and proud to admit it. Its basically about agroup of around 40 survivors of a plane crash on an island in the southpacific. Although each person holds a secret, in a series of flashbacksabout 1 character during an episode, we find out what took place intheir life before the crash while also studying the present time on theisland. They discover things about the island that are supernatural andthrilling E.G Polar Bears, Monsters, "Others", a crazy french woman, numbers and finally a hatch. If you've never watched Lost i think nowsthe time to. You better "watch it".

Paul Stean (05 May 2012)

Just Incredible

It's not often I give a 9 out of 10 - but Lost the first series totallycuts the mustard. I watched it all in one weekend (agreed amongst allthat I know have seen it as the way to watch it properly) and found itriveting, and one of those, "Must see another episode" programmes. From the superb performances of all the actors, through to theconvincing characters and the dark setting of the island with apersonality, Lost Series 1 keeps you hanging on for more.Worth mentioning on it's own paragraph is the cinematography, for a TVprogram this is second to none - it's better than you'll see in mostfull budget films. The grain of the film, lighting, contrast andsuperbly executed digital effects and computer graphics all add up tomake you really feel like you're there and it's a proper plane crashlost in the jungle situation.Buy, borrow, beg (but don't steal) this and block book the daytime ofan entire weekend to watch it. It's that good.

resmat-1 (05 May 2012)

Blockbuster TV.

If anyone hasn't heard of or seen an episode of Lost by now, they havemost likely been hiding under a rather large (and I must stress the'rather') rock. An instant hit due to its explosive action andintriguing mysteries, Lost is now well into its run and has developed alot since its initial series. It simply details the lives of a bunch ofplane crash survivors as they attempt to escape the island they crashedon. The varying characters that make up the survivors are plagued bymysteries and haunted by boars and monsters. These mysteries are whatmakes Lost so downright clever. No matter how dull or drawn out a plotmay appear or how determined a person is to abandon the show, curiosityprevails. The writers purposely avoid giving definitive answers in anattempt to lure helpless viewers along. Its excruciatingly slowrevelations are spread across the series as distant intervals. Forevery episode of shocking answers, there are episodes full ofmeaningless questions, boring subplots and irrelevant filler. In anattempt to give this simple technique credibility, the writers proceedto shower us with pointless symbolism and red herrings. But no matterwhat, it works. The good things about Lost are the special effects(more than normal for TV) and the vast majority of goodcharacters/actors. Despite the occasional dull, clichéd character, theshow has quite an interesting selection. Doctors, hunters, murderers, soldiers, con artists, lottery winners, druglords, cops, psychiatristsand many more make up the main cast. The advantage of having so large acast is, that if one character is becoming boring and expendable, hecan either be shunned aside or disposed of. Either way, a huge crowd ofmore sufficient stories can replace him.Enjoy Lost. Its full of mysteries and adventure. Season 1 was a greatstart, Season 2 had its moments and had a lot of filler and Season 3made a return to great form. Catch up now and enjoy this pretty goodshow (and I apologise if I seemed a little biased towards negativityabove!)

i really like this show

Perhaps, it is an old story, but I really enjoy this show. I think it'squite cool and exciting and it's pretty action packed. I was reallyonly watching the show because Dominic is in it, but the other actorsaren't too bad either. His character adds humor, which is great, but heis a drug addict, but he never actually seems too high. I can't decidewhether the characters are going to grow on me or not, though; theirpasts are all intriguing, but none are really very shocking. It's oddhaving them all have such complicated pasts because you can kind of seewhat will happen. It's a little predictable at times, but there's onlybeen a couple of episodes: it'll either get much better, or worst casescenario, it could end up being a total flop.

tornadopark (29 April 2012)

Lost: Masterpiece

Lost is one of the Best shows out there and its one of my favoriteshows.Lost is a story about how people are Lost on an island (ofcourse) case in point why its called Lost, but its also called Lostbecause the show also and mainly focuses on the people, the survivorsof the plane crash And they are each Lost in their own way. thecharacters are finding a new life on this island, and thats really whatthe show is about people... Each episode focuses on one particularSurvivor (different every time) and shows you what they have beenthrough... Lost is a show about people and if there is anothermasterpiece that remotely came close to the type of show Lost is, thenit better be a hell of a show.
