A young woman, her uptight step sister and her best friend use their savings for a long anticipated dream trip to Paris, which turns out to be a big disappointment. When they decide to take a break from their lousy tour and duck into the lobby of a luxury hotel, one of them is mistaken for a spoiled British heiress. Before they get the chance to reveal their true identities they are wrapped up in misadventures during a vacation to Monte Carlo instead.

The adhesion of the main characters pays off for a great ending
The movie holds your attention because you're curious. A few zig-zagscomplicate a trip to Paris. Confusion turns to mischief. Can an awkwardTexas girl (Selena Gomez) fool the social elite and find love along theway? The relationship between three young ladies who long to see theCity of Love becomes the nucleus for a bizarre stay at hotel romp. Turnthe light switch off and on and suddenly an English sophisticate(Selena Gomez) gets put on hold while Texas Gomez fills her shoes. Thiswouldn't be so extraordinary except that everyone buys it... Small townTexan fools the french elite into thinking she is one Cordelia WinthropScott. Sooner or later you know she's gonna get found out but by thenit's just a matter of working around a few Monte Carlo authorities...Selena had no trouble playing polar opposites in this movie. Herprevious acting career opened the door.

Loved it!
My friends and I wanted to go see a movie. We wanted to see "The Art ofGetting By", but it wasn't playing in our theater. There wasn't reallyanything else that seemed appealing to a group of teenage girls orreally appropriate. The other movies were way too old or young, or justnot interesting to us. So we decided to go see Monte Carlo. It was sucha good movie! It was very entertaining. ") While I'll admit some it isa little unbelievable-but so what? It was fun. The three lead actresseswere great! Katie was perfect as the spunky and goofy Texas Blonde, andSelena Gomez has such potential as an actress. I ADORED her as thespoiled British heiress. As an actress myself, having to play twocompletely different roles isn't easy, I give her so much props. Overall, it's a grate, funny, and just innocent fun for a girls night out(or in) or just for a rainy day. :)

It's simply great.
Today, there aren't many famous role models for little girls, but Selena Gomez is definitely one of the few. This is a great movie. It's good for all ages. Anywhere from a 7-8 year old all the way to an 80 year old, will LOVE this movie. I'm 16 and I loved it!

i found this film to be entertaining and funny . i went to see it withthe least expectations .selena Gomez is a good actress and she broughtback the times when we used to admire teen actresses and take themseriously . actresses like Christina Ricci and Brooke shields when theywere teens . there are few deep messages in the film . about honesty ,money . love and friendship .also i would like to say that thecinematography was wonderful and it was a big publicity for MonteCarlo,the movie was full of absurd situations like some culturaldifference, funny moments in France and how some hotels aren't up tostandards there when they are being advertised in the best way possible. . but the way it develops the story is admiring. all in all irecommend this film for anyone anytime . it is a feel good funnyromantic flick .

MY DAUGHTER AND I ENJOYED WATCHING THIS MOVIE!
This review is from: Monte Carlo (Amazon Instant Video) I don't know about you..but as a mom to a 7 year old girl, I get tired of watching cartoons all the time. Sometimes, I just like to watch a movie with real actors. I saw this movie with my daughter and it was cute and fun! In fact, it sparked a great conversation about Paris and traveling. We made a plan to go there together after she graduates high school! I thought this was a clean movie (other than one of the characters using the word "ass") that was suitable for my daughter. The scenery was breathtaking and we enjoyed it very much!

it was really a very good movie. It had good actors in it. like Selena Gomez, Cory Monteith Katie Cassidy, and Leighton Meester. It was overall a a very good movie. And a good sleepover movie, with limited bad words. And it was a fun movie.

It works, for what it is, a vehicle for young Selena Gomez.
No one would mistake this film for a future classic. It is simple andsometimes silly, but for its target audience it works very well.Before I saw this movie I had very little exposure to Selena Gomez. Iknew vaguely who she was, and that is all. After watching the movie Icame away impressed. In actuality she has to play three roles. Thefirst is her character, Grace. The second is Grace pretending to besomeone else. And third, that other character. The last two may seem tobe the same, but they aren't. She has to play them all slightlydifferent to make it seem believable. And, I think she pulls it offvery well.Selena Gomez as Grace goes with her friend and her step sister toParis. But at one stop the tour bus that seems more intent on keeping aschedule than anything else leaves them. Then, Grace gets mistaken forher look-alike, a wealthy British girl Cordelia Winthrop Scott. Seeingthis as their way to get out of a pinch, she goes along with it andthey all end up in Monte Carlo. There the situations develop moreseriously.Mostly a fun movie, entertaining in a very light manner.

Excellent tween and teen movie!
Monte Carlo is a charming movie for tweens and/or teens. Several otherreviewers disliked the movie calling it predictable and boring but Ihave to vehemently disagree. If you are looking for a cute, adventurousmovie with NO SWEARING, NO NUDITY, NO SEXUAL SCENES or INNUENDOS, NOSMOKING, and NO DRUGS then this is the movie for you (and us!)! Thismovie reminds me of some of the 1960's Disney movies that wereplot-wise too old for little kids but still 'safe' for the not quiteteenagers.This is a classic movie about mistaken identity and learning to getalong. The 3 main characters in the movies are all very differentpersonalities but they grow and learn to accept each other by the endof the movie. They also have very different 'happy endings' but seeinghow different they are, the characters should end happily-ever-afterdifferently.There are some funny moments, some thinking 'would I do that?' moments,and some 'good for her' moments. You genuinely like each of thesecharacters (except the mean girl) by the end of the show whether youliked them at the beginning or not.This movie is perfect for its target audience of tweens/early teens andI wish more movies like this were available with today's stars!

My grandchildren and I love Selena Gomez and really enjoy watching movies she has been in. We really enjoyed this movie and I definitely recommend it.

Not Worth Seeing.... At All.
Warning: Contains Some SpoilersWhile trying to decide what movie to see with friends, they chose MonteCarlo. I reluctantly walked into the theater and wanted my money backwithin 10 minutes. First of all, this is a story we all know, thereforeknow how it ends. From the very beginning you're confused as to whichcharacter is which. People are discussing characters but you have noidea who these people are. Selena Gomez's acting is average, as always.Her character is meant to be a quiet, non-popular, shy girl. Itreminded me of her character is Another Cinderella Story. She does adecent job, but you eventually get tires of her. And her character alsoseems to change; one minute she's crying and feeling bad for herselfbecause she picked a bad trip, the next she's all for impersonating arich heiress and flying off to Monte Carlo. Then she doesn't want to gothrough with being this character. Leighton Meester is meant to be anuptight, goody-two-shoes girl who finds a guy who in turn teaches herto be a free spirit. Very awkward acting delivered by her. Katie Cassidy does a decent jobof being a "Texas Barbie doll." but PLEASE don't get my started on CoryMonteiths acting. He's meant to be a country boy which just made mecringe, and he even forgot his accents in some scenes. Selena Gomezalso plays the rich, snooty heiress Cordelia, but instead of being saidgirl, it just seems like it's her time of the month. The rest of thecharacters, well, you could care less about.The script was okay, but quite boring and you could see what was comingfrom a mile ahead. Also, the special effects were just painful towatch. During what's supposed to be a fireworks show, you canabsolutely tell how fake they are.And was I the only one who thought Selena as Leighton's makeup lookedbad?Of course in the end, everything works out for the girls and theirlives seem PERFECT. Overall: empty and awkward acting, badly writtenscripts, pointless sub-plots, bad effects, etc. By the third act myfriend and I were throwing Skittles at couples instead of watching themovie.My advice: save your money for something better. You'll regret seeingit.

3 Cinderellas
Grace (Selena Gomez), a small town Texas girl has been saving up for 4 years through High School to go to Paris. She is excited about going with her friend Emma (Katie Cassidy) who seems to be a bit of a floozy- shoes she says, "If the ain't hurtin' the ain't helpin'. However Dad wants her to take along her step sister Meg (Leighton Meester)who is not exactly welcomed as she looks too much like Kristen Stewart with the blood drained out of her and acts about the same. The three are in Paris having a miserable time because their tour is inanely rushing them. It isn't long before they become separated. Grace is mistaken for Cordelia Winthrop Scott, British heiress and the 3 Cinderellas end up in Monte Carlo, dressed up and going to a ball. At this point the plot is pretty well established. The acting was less than expected, as was the script. Comedy is very light. This is perhaps a young teen female only movie. Originally Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts were supposed to star in this film, but the producers wanted a younger cast...guess how that worked out. No bad language, so sex, no nudity. Drop the girls off and go.

A sweet harmless movie that if not taken too seriously is quite enjoyable.
Monte Carlo is a sweet romantic comedy in the same vain as The LizzieMcGuire Movie, the story is about a small town gal from Texas, her bestfriend and her uptight sister who all travel to Paris for a week, onlyto get separated from their tour group, they take refuge in the nearesthotel and one of the gals is mistaken for a wealthy British heiress andthat's when the story takes off. Cue lots of awkward situations and acute love story and there you have it.Selena Gomez is quite nice to watch, as is Miss Meester and KatieCassidy, all three girls have their own storyline throughout the filmand each get their chance to shine. Full props to Selena for beingentirely convincing as a snooty British snob, she nailed it. The onething I didn't get was everyone in the movie from Texas has a Texanaccent except Selena, I don't know if this was a deliberate mistake orjust plain laziness, but for me it was the only thing that bothered me.The movie is quite girly, not that that's a bad thing, that's thetarget audience, but for me it was still easy to watch and enjoyableenough. Give it a go, its not a classic teen film but hey, it's niceenough for a movie night with the girls. :)

surprisingly good
I am not a fan of Miss Gomez, but I had to watch it because my 8 year old daughter is. I was surprised with the quality of this movie. I was surprised I didn't find cheap comedy and unappropriate stuff like sometimes happens in kids movies. Beside, as a film lover, I could enjoy the fact that everything is well done, meaningful, appropriate, fun, well directed and played, beatiful cinematography, plot intriguing not cynical or too naive. I spent one of the nicest evening with my child watching a movie that we both enjoyed and mada us discuss afterwards. Loved it. Good job Miss Gomez!
