The mediocre sexual comedic version of "500 Days of Summer".

First of all. I love Natalie Portman. She's my current favorite actressand #1 celebrity crush. But after watching this movie I realized thatshe came as a hypocrite in terms of credibility. Once she stated thatshe would never make the kind of movie that Jennifer Love Hewitt does. She thought she was better than that. But "No Strings Attached" is thekind of movie JLH would do! I couldn't believe the scene where Natalieholds a wine bottle while yelling and chasing two girls. Pumpkin! Now Ihate that word if you know what I mean. The plot is absurd but delivers expectations for those who are intoromantic comedies with sex-oriented humor. The humor is made of sexjokes, funny situations, and physical comedy. Natalie Portman is agreat actress and I totally believed her performance. Ashton Kutcherplays himself and that's always good. Lake Bell was really funny andsexy in her own way. I love that chick. Ludicrous was my favorite actorin this one. Kevin Kline also delivered a fine performance. Greta H. isa very talented and attractive blonde. I wanted more of her.I would only recommend this movie as a last option to watch in themovies. You know, the kind of popcorn movie to enjoy with your girl. It's poorly written, has no message, but has the standard fun factor.

A good, intelligent adult comedy

Surprisingly good, intelligent adult comedy with consistently interesting performances by everyone from the stars to extras with only a single line. I actually had planned to skip this movie; I'm glad I didn't.

Great, Cute Little Film. Funny and Entertaining.

This review is from: No Strings Attached (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) I did not know what to expect from this film, however I blind bought it and I'm glad I did. Based on the title I thought it might be more sexual than it was, like Love and Other Drugs where there were naked people everywhere. No Strings Attached was simpler and really focused on the two main characters and their friendship/relationship. It was very funny at times yet had its serous moments. I am not an Ashton Kutcher fan at all. I think he is really annoying, however he did well in this role and meshed well with Natalie Portman. Kevin Kline plays Ashton's father in the film and he was hilarious, one of my favorite funny actors. All of the actors did well and pulled their weight through the film. Over-all the entire movie was quite enjoyable and entertaining. There were some slower parts however they were very minimal. The picture quality is perfect. I didn't notice any video issues or graininess or anything. The audio is also great. There was mostly just dialogue throughout the film, however there were some times with loud music playing in the background and it sounded great. Clean and crisp PQ & AQ. Extras were basic, nothing out of the ordinary. All in all it was a great blind purchase for me. I will watch this movie again and again and I am happy to add it to my collection.

You FELL When No Strings Attached

There are only two reasons you go to watch thiz movie. First bcoz of"Black Swan" (2010), you want to see Natalie Portman! Or you're one ofthose who think Ashton Kutcher is cute! The story follows Adam(Kutcher) and Emma (Portman) who are friends since childhood. Somehowthey promise to use each other for physical reason which is sex! It'sexactly what Anne Hathaway did with Jake Gyllenhaal recently in "Loveand Other Drugs" (2010). They want sex, but in the process to that theyfind something more special. Kutcher has fun and easy-going character(where he did just well most of the time). On the other hand, Portmangives a balancing to their interaction. It's good, not bad at all forsure, but it's like using big Bazooka to kill a little bird, completelywaste of talent. The movie comes from the Director who is the father of"Ghostbusters" (1984) and Arnie's "Kindergarten Cop" (1990). The funfactor is still on the air for about half hour of the beginning, wecould still feel the excitement and freshness, afterwards the moviebecomes a never-ending boredom. In my note, what happened to modernRom-Coms nowadays, it's almost impossible, making movie without raisingGay Issues. For example in thiz movie, one of Portman's best friends isgay, and so with one of Kutcher's best friends also has gay parents.Another factor that occurs to most of modern Rom-Coms lately is the useof vulgar words and irreverent dialogue, it's totally unbearable, including thiz one. By the way, if you came to see Portman being nakedin the first place. Well, instead of that, you get Kutcher being naked! It's pretty ugly for the one who expects more. One good evidence of thesituation that describes you fell when no strings attached.Visit My Blog on JONNY'S MOVEE: http://jonnyfendi.blogspot.com

No Strings Attached

I was actually quite surprised at how good `No Strings Attached' was. I was expecting it to be quite disappointing and a lack lustre affair, but it had some good laughs and a reasonably good plot too.Featuring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher this follows two characters called Emma and Adam as they try to have a relationship where they have plenty of sex, but don't fall in love. Emma, who has intimacy problems, finds this concept easier than Adam and that is when the problems start. This has some decent jokes in it and it had me laughing out loud a few times. Both Portman and Kutcher play their roles well and you tend to feel their was genuine chemistry between them. Kevin Kline as Adams father also has some great lines and raises some laughs.I loved the soundtrack, which features one of my favourite bands (The Temper Trap) and the songs match the scenes very well. The story was also quite good, with some great dialogue and it didn't feel overlong or tedious at any point. All in all this made for just under two hours entertaining viewing and it is an easy going and reasonably funny film. It is well worth checking out and whilst you won't be rushing to watch it again straight afterwards, I didn't regret watching it at all.Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

This film is against Islam and SHOULD BE BANNED!!

Asalaama Aaleikum, Besmaliah alRubai alRahaim! This review is not meant to be taken as facetious as I, by the grace ofAllah, am a Muslim. I reside in USA and have seen the commercial forthis film and it is utterly contemptible. The entire premise for thismovie is that morality should be forsaken for unfettered carnalhedonism. As a Muslim, I entreat other Muslims to shun this movie andreproach it with your brethren for the profligate behaviour itencourages. The USA is well past the point of condoning openlicentiousness. There is such a constant encouragement of suchbehaviours that it is now a mindset which is a part of everyone'sroutine. To the average citizen of USA, lasciviousness is as mundane aseating a meal and he is now a reprehensible animal that is unaware ofhis sordid lifestyle, having been desensitised to it.In any civilised society this film would be banned. It would not evenbe allowed to be made. Clearly any link we have with USA is severedwhen the latter promotes women's promiscuity. To be void of allsacrosanctness seems to be a goal that USA is vigourously and zealouslystriving for. There is something deeply wrong with this country. This film is theproof.Hastraringaara, 'Baseth Haveenagara. Kus tava deeian astaveen!

"Love and Other Drugs", all "Spread" around.

Ivan Reitman, the director known for his long collaboration with BillMurray, gave me enough reasons to worry about this flick only by thelook of the trailer. No Strings Attached looked just like another cheapand average romantic comedy full of glam scenes and clichés. Is it thecase here? Yes, it probably is. But something changed my judgment onthis movie right after I left the theater. I said to myself: "wait aminute, this movie ain't that bad so I need to write about it as soonas I could". Well, here I am.The film starts horrifying and amateurish. Nothing connects me with thecharacters, nothing impresses me, the jokes are so lame that even atrue "blond" won't laugh at them, the pacing is incredibly boring andthe clichés are falling like the "bieber-tears". I was obviouslypanicked. However, there was a point were things started to get better. The movie started to awake itself from the coma. Everything started tomake sense again. I was breathing because the air was fresh. The filmactually started to get entertaining. Well, thank god because that'swhat I was expecting from this. I expected a simple combo between "Loveand Other Drugs" and Kutcher's other "playboy" film "Spread". Thismixture is the perfect description this movie could have: "Love andOther Drugs, All Spread Around".Basically the film is more than simple. Two friends, Emma (NataliePortman) and Adam (Ashton Kutcher) become sex-buddies. Of course youknow the twist here... C'mon guys... they fall in love. But thatdoesn't ruin anything because this is a great dating movie. There are alot of goofy situations because you have Kutcher's same character, there are a lot of romantic moments which may seem to be similar oreven identical to any other one thousand romantic moments which you allseen in other movies but that won't bother you because the execution isnot wrong this time. So, you have the formula, you got the execution, what's next? The acting... While Kutcher does what he knows to do best, goofing around and run after girls, talk to the phone or eat a stake,Natalie Portman is too good for a movie like this. She gives a greatperformance even though it was not necessarily required. The emotions, the different emotional states, the delivery is better than I expected. That made me feel good and acknowledge that at least I could findinterest in a character. The technical execution is not something to be worry about so I won'ttalk about it since it's nothing special but I will admit though thatthe chosen songs were pretty good and they fitted the movie's identity.Excepting the first 20 minutes were everything was a complete chaos, autterly mess, No Strings Attached starts horrifying but ends up morethan satisfying. It's definitely a date film that I recommend. It'sfunny, cheesy, sweet to look at and strangely enough, innocent. Justdon't hate on it.

Can't believe Portman is in this

I always considered Natalie Portman as an outstanding actress and wassurprised to see her name linked to Ashton Kutcher, notoriously a lotless outstanding. However, hoping for some light entertainment Idecided to watch this movie. Regrettably, it turned out even worse thanI expected. Portman plays a doctor who thinks she is tough, but inreality is just a hamster (the only funny joke of the movie). Kutcherplays a mild mannered guy, who has the misfortune of being weighteddown by a questionable ex-girlfriend and by a vain, silly father. Theyboth are supported by the usual cohort of unbearable friends who are afixed showcase of all such comedies. The whole cast is equallyintolerable and predictable to the utmost. If I ever saw apaint-by-number movie it has to be this one. Absolutely no way ofspoiling it, as it is crystal clear from the start how it will end. Iam still recovering from the shock of seeing Portman in this piece ofunbearable s**t. But I learned my lesson and from now on I will try mybest to avoid all movies with Kutcher in it.

On of the best movies of the year

Surprisingly heartfelt and moving. Ashton kutcher and natalie portman are superb. This may share the same theme as friends with benefits -- but that was done differently and if it was just based on the premise -- no strings attached wins hands down. It's a great romantic comedy done correctly.

FUNNY and WONDERFUL!

I enjoyed this movie so so much! It's wonderful! Very amazing. It's so funny and feels so very real. They are both so good in it. Their chemistry is so natural! It's funny!!! I love the moment where she's drunk and gets into a cab and tells the driver to take her to Adam's house. And the driver is like, "Where's that?" to which she replies, "it's where Adam lives!" Oh, it's so silly wonderful. And wonderful scene at the end when they are eating breakfast and he tells her that she eats like a baby dinosaur without chewing!!! I laughed a lot during this movie. Very nice movie. It kinda reminded me of another movie with Ashton and Amanda Peet....what's it called....they also had such a good chemistry...."A Lot Like Love".

A few strings are still tied to deliver the expected

Natalie Portman and Nicholas Cage are two actors that have won an Oscarand continue to do films, some in below average quality, and some justcompletely awful compared to the one they won for. Portman has done NoStrings Attached and Your Highness aside from her amazing drama BlackSwan. Cage has done pretty much anything else since Leaving Las Vegas, most of it being bland and goofy films that showcase his oddball senseof direction and hairstyles. No Strings Attached is a romantic comedy, that at first seems like adifferent film making the characters shy away from romance and love, when ultimately we know what will happen. It doesn't take a genius tofind out that Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman wind up together atthe end of the film. Did you expect anything different? Movies likethis are nice to watch, and most of the time keep a positive feel. Butthey are ruined by the inevitable outcome all of these movies have. Theplot revolves around a medical student named Emma (Portman) and a TVexecutive named Adam (Kutcher). Both were the teenagers that knew eachother, but never spoke in school and now they are starting to hang outmore and talk with each other.Emma is a workaholic and Adam just says "yes" to everything. When Emmasays their relationship will be a sort of FWB style bond, Adam agreesand they have random sex on on/off occasions. Then they start feelingthings for each other, we get a bunch of lovey-dovey between the two,and so on.There are little perks to this movie. Jennifer Irwin has a minor roleas one of the Television directors. I appreciated Irwin's work as AuntLinda on the sitcom Still Standing, and she still doesn't seem like shechanged her personality in this. Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portmanplay a likable and cute couple side by side. Kutcher cleans up his acta little, and Portman has some fun with her character being a littlefoul-mouthed and outspoken. And we do get some cute dialog between themas well. The R rating isn't as R as I would've thought. It's a questionable,high-maintenance PG-13 movie with a few dirty words. The sex scenes areextremely clean and are only suggestive. No Strings Attached is bumpedup by a few smiles brought on by the cast and the dialog, but the plotand overall execution is just another, we-know-it-before-we-see-it sortof turnout. I expected a bit more daring acts from Kutcher and Portmantogether. Kutcher is a good actor in good movies, and Portman is on therise to be an A list star. They only give their very early performancelike skills in this film when they are so much more.Starring: Ashton Kutcher, Natalie Portman, Greta Gerwig, Jake M.Johnson, Cary Elwes, and Jennifer Irwin. Directed by: Ivan Reitman.

a nice romantic comedy , no more , no less

my 6 rating is more of a 6.8 i would say. but since there isn't one ,there you go. I just watched this movie , in the evening , too tired togo out, i needed a sofa night watching a movie. So , here we go:I liked that it had some realism in it ( despite a few peculiarcharacters typical in this type of films)Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman both played their roles well, and iguess you can say there was a good mix of chemistry. At first i was thinking " after the black swan , Portman gets in this?? whats wrong with her" ,yes this thought did cross my mind , I am not going to lie. But as the movie rolled , I came to realize that there is certainly noharm done. Its not one of those terribly made films , that everythingin it is plain wrong. No , this one has some fairly good parts. There are the flaws here andthere , some lack of originality in the style of making the movie andall that , but the whole package can stand straight. Not a bad way torelax for 2 hours. And one last info. Its more of a romance with a comedic atmosphere hereand there , than a comedy with some romance. What i am trying to say is, the romance is more present here than the comedy. Thanks for reading, bye.

Not bad

I like it. I gave it 6/10 because it all came down to another clichéending. Boy meets girl and they fall in love, like that hasn't happeneda million times before. Aside from those few downfalls it was a goodflick. Funny enough and pretty entrancing if you just relax and getinto the story. The funny in this movie wasn't to difficult, so tospeak. It was just stupid humor that was easy to understand. One thingI thought gave this movie something "meat-on-the- bones" was the factthat it was "guy" funny. Most people could relate to at least onecharacter in the story making it a win for everyone. To be perfectlyhonest there was no deeper meaning to the characters or the plot it ranon. It was a light-hearted and easy going film made to entertain on along Sunday afternoon. Then again maybe I'm just to picky. I wouldrecommend just checking it out if you have the time. If you don't havethe time, you aren't missing out to much.

No Strings Attached:

This review is from: No Strings Attached (DVD) can it be done..a no-strings relationship?? absolutely but this shows the, perhaps, flexibility of both sides .... the film would have been better without the suddenly and usual today reversal of "typical" character-roles in no-strings relationships ... why was he so surprised at the no-strings attitude???Ashton Kutcher was not, however, very believable .. a bit kitschy and Natalie Portman's performance was trying too hard to retain the distance ... A no-strings relationship is OK and the film was OK.

Dreadful.

As a man, I'll complain to an expected level every time about having towatch romantic comedies with my wife, but I can admit that I find mostof them fairly enjoyable in the end.Not so much with this one. This movie brought to mind two movies from the late '80s, not becauseof any similarity in content. The first was "Funny Farm." When Chevy Chase's wife reads the firstchapter of his manuscript, it's so bad that she actually cries beforeripping it to shreds in an honest critique.I don't know how this wasn't everyone's reaction to this script. It wasjust all over the place. The connection between Portman and Kutcher'scharacters is never close to believable, and the rest of the charactersadd nothing. Add in a ton of crudity presented with all the subtlety of"Beavis and Butt-Head" (and I say this as a big fan of that show, but Ithink this movie fancies itself as better than that), and it just leftme scratching my head. I'm not an expert on the process of makingfilms, but it seems like there are plenty of places along the way torecognize a real stinker. How was this movie ever made? The other movie that came to mind was "Steel Dawn," with PatrickSwayze. What the heck was Swayze doing in that movie, after "DirtyDancing"? The same goes with all the big names in this one. I noticedthat Natalie Portman was an executive producer, so she had to, I guess, but what is everyone else's excuse? What were Kutcher, Kline, and CaryElwes (in a non-existent role in which he was practicallyunrecognizable) thinking? Even Ludicrous (I know how his name is reallyspelled, but it's fixing it for me), who is still working to establishhimself as an actor, was too good for this one. There just wasn't a thing endearing about this film. I was shocked tocome here and see that so many people liked it. Maybe I just don't getit. The worst part? My wife keeps forgetting to take the disc back to RedBox, so we're still paying a buck a day to have it in our home. I needto call her right now.

(25 April 2012)

Ashton Kutcher shows why some people should just not try to act.

So I thought maybe this would be a fun movie...nope. Ashton Kutcher managed to bring all of the talent to this that he demonstrated on That 70s Show, which is to say none. Outside of a few funny lines this movie adds nothing to the entertainment industry other than being a giant rotting cabbage that is the garbage heap that Hollywood has become. If you're a fan of Family Guy or Keeping up with the Kardashians than maybe this will be dumbed down enough for you to enjoy, otherwise spend your time doing something more entertaining, like maybe scrubbing a floor with a tooth brush.
