much better than its predecessors!!!!!

Well i have always loved the resident evil game series. The first threemovies were good but this was awesome. But sadly i didn't get to see itin 3D. The action sequences, zombies , the axeman ,the sets were all upto the mark. The story also attracted me coz it differed from the game .Then why i didn't give it a 10 ??? My only disappointment was that myfavourite villain ALBERT WESKER had very little time to show off hissuperhuman abilities. The director could have added more of his fightsequences with ALICE. Also the ending rung the bells in my mind as ifasking "WHAT??? MORE IS YET TO COME". ALL IN ALL a good entertainer amust watch in 3D.

Good 3D, great visuals, so so movie, worst Res Evl

Pros:@Great 3D which makes for stunning visuals. The movie is amazing for the way it is shot and how you feel "deep" in the movie.@ Consistent plot line. It both picks up from the other movies and progress the plot as well as gives enough set up that someone new to the series should be able to dive in.@ There is a point where it is clear there will be at least one more movie@ Zombies are some of the best along with some very cool mutationsCons:@ Weakest plot line of the entire series. While it picks up from the last movie and advances the plot there more than a few plot flaws and just plain weak plot points.@ New characters are introduces, developed briefly, then instantly killed. Hi I am so and so, I am interesting because of this, now lets.. oh wait I am dead. What? You managed to survive that long and now you die 5 minutes after being introduced?@ Key new character is introduced with bare minimum of background development and then is suddenly thrust into a pivotal role. Exact opposite of what I stated above.@ While the 3D and visuals are amazing there is too much time forcing things to happen in 3D just to exploit the technology and it is done at the cost of the story.@ While I am willing to suspend disbelief there are certain plot flaws that are so stupid or so unnecessary you shake your head. Like having two floors of a building flood while the ventilation on those floors is not flooded. WHAT DO YOU THINK VENTILATION DOES? You have big screens so air can flow, it doesn't magically block out water! Oh here is a temporary armory set up during the evacuation but while they were fleeing for their lives they too the time to neatly organize one of every weapon ever made??? Really? They wouldn't just stack up crates and have a few dozen types of standard issue guns - M16, MP5, shotgun, sniper rifle, hand guns, grenades... No, some how they have one of each and every type of gun ever manufactured and ammo for each gun AND set them up neatly tied to the wall WHILE fleeing.Overall:Worst of the Resident Evil series, but still an okay movie. I would go see it in the theater if you are a fan of RE or zombie movies to get the 3D experience. If you wait to see it at home you will miss out on the 3d which is one of the better parts of the movie.

Resident Evil: Afterlife

"... is an extremely cheesy Resident Evil sequel, but it still has some pretty decent zombie killings and shootouts. This is an acceptable movie."

The RE franchise is running out of steam

I didn't see this in 3d but it wouldn't have mattered. Theplot, action.characters are nothing new , most of the movie is spentwith Milla hamming it up for the camera and slow motion bullet timelike scenes. Done yrs ago in the Matrix when it was cool, its lame nowand just adds to the boredom. A few nice additions of RE4 and RE5monsters were interesting but they cant save this jumbled mess of amovie. Having Alice and a group of survivors trying to get to whatlooks like an oil tanker is an interesting premise however thewriters/director don't flesh it out and it becomes one tired clichéafter another , characters getting grabbed off screen - no gore whichis what I like to watch in survival horror movies - a boss monsterwhich is never explained ,in RE5 the executioner was not a 10 ft tallmonster but rather a large hooded infected human that was geneticallyaltered by the T-virus I think. Anyway , the ending is anothershameless setup for a sequel. Lets hope they wrap it up in the 5thmovie as its becoming more of a direct to DVD type franchise. The videogames are getting tired too , if they make another one they need towrap up the storyline. See you at the movies.

The perfect gift for a Resident Evil Fan!

I got this for my Boyfriend for his birthday, and he LOVED it! He'd seen it at a friend's house, so he already knew he loved the movie...choosing a gift was a CINCH after that! The disc arrived in excellent condition, in its original casing with what we assumed to be all its papers, and even shrink/plastic-wrapped. The movie played perfectly without skipping, or showing any other problems...and it even got to my mailbox in a pretty timely manner! It's been a while since it arrived, but if I'm remembering rightly, it arrived slightly earlier than I expected...and it was well-packaged, too, for shipment. No damage, and the disc wasn't even loose in the case from jostling! (THAT can cause SERIOUS SCRATCHES, so I always worry about that when I purchase a dvd online.) All in all, the seller did a great job, and I hear the movie was "awesome," so I'm MORE than satisfied with the purchase. As for my boyfriend...well, he says it made his birtday. [Yeah...no jealousy here, at ALL... ;) ]

More for the diehard fans (some spoilers below)

To begin, movies based on video games will never be as good as the video games, they are homage to a great franchise, but Resident Evil has done the best I think. Also to be noted, many thought that there were many things not explained or didn't make sense in this film installment. However, it MUST be known that in this particular movie, elements are ripped straight out of the game, mostly from Resident Evil 5. If you have played Resident Evil 5, this movie was made for you. RE5 is where the Executioner came from, Las Plagas (the new zombies), the device found stuck to Claire, Wesker's guard dogs that split in half, and his super powers, all the way down to his outfit, some of his dialogue and action moves: ALL from RE5. The way he tosses around Chris and Claire during the ending fight is the same as the game too. If you have not played RE5, Afterlife may seem confusing or random. The climactic scene with fighting Wesker could have been longer, but was still done fairly well. This movie was more directed toward the diehard fans (like me) I think, which is why those of us who have played the game don't need anything explained. We know Chris (well portrayed by Wentworth Miller) and we know Claire, and we definitely know Wesker. We know all about Las Plagas and how deadly that Executioner's axe can be. If anything, this movie should make you want to play the games. There will definitely be a fifth movie (judging by the end of Afterlife) and I am excited because all diehard fans should be. Perhaps the moviemakers decided to cater more to the long-time fans this time, and I shout out a big thank you to that! :)

Horrible from start to end

I have never written a review for a movie on IMDb. But i feel likepeople should know the truth about this movie. I always go to IMDb.comand search for the ratings and review before watching a movie. Ticketsare expensive so always try to find different ways to save money. Forthis movie i read reviews on IMDb with 8.7/10 rating i was very calmthat the movie will be a blast.I went to the theatre and started watching it and boy o boy. This movieis by far the worst resident evil i have encountered. Horrible fightsequences, ridiculous story. This movie did not do a justification toresident evil franchise. How in the world with one injection you takeall the powers ?. There are so many other flaws. This was the firstmovie where i started yawning and felt sleepy.Overall if you have time to waste money then go for it.

Resident Evil AfterLife Is Okay But Not The Greatest

Resident Evil Afrerlife is okay but not the greatest that has flawswhich I'll get into later from writer/director Paul Anderson. It's thefourth film in the Resident Evil series.Milla Jovovich reprises her role as Alice the unstoppable killingmachine heroine and she's perfect as the character who can still kicksome serious ass while looking beautiful doing it. I just wish they hadgiven her more to do -acting wise- than just killing countless undeadzombies and various monsters (includine one with a giant axe) mostlikely created by the Umbrella Corporation. Ali Larter also returns as Claire Redfield from the third film whojoins Alice once again in her quest to find survivors. Larter does whather role requires and she gets a decent action scene near the end.Wentworth Miller plays Claire's brother Chris who unfortunately doesn'treally serve any real purpose except as a nod to die Resident Evil gamefans. Miller's performance isn't that bad it's just his character isn'treally developed or his relationship with Claire.Shawn Roberts seemed to be doing his best Agent Smith from the Matriximpression as the villain Albert Wesker unless thats how his characteracts in the games. He gets two scenes the beginning and the end so forsomebody who's supposed to be the main villain he's not in that much atall. His fight at the end between Claire and Chris felt anti-climatic.Not to mention it doesn't last very long either. A third act that hadthe same problem some other films (Iron Man, Iron Man 2, andTransformers 2 to name a few) did as well when the main bad guy iseasily defeated within a few minutes. The rest of the cast including Kim Coates, Boris Kodjoe, and a briefcameo by Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine are okay but none of themare given any development, substance, or depth. The action sequences are okay but nothing we haven't seen before andthere's no tension or suspense. The fact that there's no humor didn'thelp either. The zombies are all right despite not getting half as muchscreen time as they did in the previous three films. The monster withthe huge Axe was decent despite just showing up with no explanationsomething a lot of the creatures do.And what was the purpose of taking away Alice's powers early on if itdoesn't have any effect at all besides turning her human again? Becausea minute later she somehow survives a plane crash in the mountains andapparently walks away without a scratch. This just didn't make a wholelot of sense like many other things. I'm willing to suspend mydisbelief when it comes to movies but only to a point. The ending was predictable and a cameo by a certain character duringthe credits seemed a little pointless expect to set up for anothersequel. At 97 minutes Resident Evil Afterlife wasn't that bad it justsuffers from the sequel curse by cramming too much into one movie. Thefilm seemed to be made purely for the action which may please some butI like to have a compelling story with well developed character, drama, emotion, suspense, and humor to go along with the spectacle.

let it die already...

I played some of the games, I watched every other movie. I anticipated this release and was sooo excited when my boyfriend rented it. I am really, really disappointed. I did not watch it in 3D, but it would make sense with the matrix style of so many of the fights taking great care to show you every bullet. I can forgive the makers of the movie that. What I cannot forgive... *the absolute lack of storyline. There is nothing moving this along except the desire to not be eaten and figure out if anyone is on a ship that has given no transmission for 3 days, with no movement visible at all, every time they check. And they check often.*The people you like, for the most part, die. The people that get on your nerves--won't die fast enough. *There's a big nasty "experiment" but you have -no- idea how it came to be. Just randomly in there with a bunch of mindless zombie types. A few lucky zombies got to be smart and light a fire under this movies butt so they do something besides sit.*The end of the movie.. ugh. I won't spoil it except saying it's really, really bad, and if they make another one I won't even rent it to see if it's worse than this one.*The entire storyline of the movie could have been avoided if she didn't land the damn plane. sad. What was good...* um.... they tried? maybe.. I think.I would go into detail, but I don't want to spoil it for someone that might actually enjoy it. Sort of difficult to describe particular examples without giving the movie away. I'm really glad I didn't buy it. I can appretiate loyal fans. The first couple were really great and I truly enjoyed them, and remain a fan--But if I had seen this movie before production I would have groaned and told them to scrap it. Quit a series on a high note. Don't hit it over the head and help it roll down the hill faster hitting -every- rock on the way down.

What's happen on this,Is this the end of the world (DOOM'S DAY),Why it's seems like doom, but why people course the freedom to be lost, It is a movie but may be there is the day it will happen.

BAD FILM, GREAT MOVIE....

Resident Evil: Afterlife won't win any awards but it's sure one heck of a fun movie. This is really a guilty pleasure of sorts, continuing the arch set by the first three films.I have always been a fan of the Resident Evil games growing up. Resident Evil 4 is probably some of the most fun I've had ever, but the movies are far from perfect.First of all they deviated heavily from the source material (of course, most movies do) but for the most part did an excellent job of portraying the spirit and the horror mayhem of the games themselves.Milla Jovovich is a terrific heroine. A highly underrated actress (who also happens to be sexy as hell). She is the anchor holding these somewhat messes of films together. We can also count on her acting/physical credibility with the role of Alice. Jovovich is perhaps the only female lead that can be believable as an action star (besides Weaver and Jolie). I like her in the first three movies and I especially like her in this one. In the end, she seems to be not trying.RE fans will be thrilled beyond belief that this movie (finally) tries to do justice to the games by bringing in some of the recognizable characters and setting everything up for an inevitable string of profitable sequels. I for one am thrilled that Paul W.S. Anderson and Sony decided to go this route. I believe it was the right thing to do instead of just rehashing the same plot over and over again with Milla fending off the zombies with a group of different stranger each time (who are also very bad actors no less). This time Claire and Chris Redfield are front and center, as is Wesker who is simply terrific and hilarious as well. His fight scene with Milla, Claire and Chris are the closest the films have come to capturing the spirit of the video games. Which will no doubt benefit the stories to come.In perhaps what is the year's coolest scene. Claire (a very fit and attractive Ali Larter) fights off a huge monstrous executioner in a water-drenched bathroom. The scene itself, while quite short is a cool use of the new James Cameron 3D cameras; capturing ultra-slow, high resolution motion that puts you in the middle of the action. This may well be the catalyst of where the future of action movies are headed.Resident Evil 4 is not a perfect movie. The dialogue is occasionally bad, the acting very hammy, the special effects sequences phoned in and contrived. However, despite everything this is a very, very slick production despite its innate predictability and slight lameness. It does a respectable job of re-invigorating the franchise and setting up sequels to come. In the end, this is what fans of the video games wanted all along when the first one came out nearly 10 years ago. Boy how time flies.

Resident Evil: Afterlife + Trilogy before it......

Many people can agree that the Resident Evil Movies don't follow thegames exactly, but they do have elements of the game in the story. Whatpeople need to understand is that the movies are taking the franchiseto a new level, it would be pointless to make a live action movie thatfollows the game in every way. The movie versions are an adaptation ofthe games and twists things to fit into a theatrical format. ResidentEvil: Afterlife does that well, by turning Alice back into thecharacter in the first movie, she kicks ass and keeps it human, ratherthan super-human. The 3D was a new take on the series and I think itwas nice, but it would have been fine without it too. It seems that thecraze right now in movies is 3D, but some movies should go without itand let the story bring in the audience not the gimmicks of 3D. The 3Din RE:A was exceptional, but sometimes no surprise, like the Axe manthrowing the ax towards the screen. The movie takes place after RE:Ewhich is good that the movies follow close behind each other. The storyis basically Alice trying to find life after the world goes to hell.Yes, there is zombies, but the focus of this movie is ending theUmbrella Corporation. Many elements of this movie takes scenes from theRE Games 4 & 5. Out of all the RE movies made this had moresimilarities to the game than the previous films. People shouldremember that these filmmakers make these films to entertain, so otherpeople that have negative things to say about this movie or any othermovie for that matter should shut up and enjoy the movie rather thananalyzing every little thing.

911ConspiracyTheory (29 April 2012)

what the f**k is this garbage?

Come on , are you serious? Why is it that movie company kept green light this piece of garbage. After the 1st Resident Evil. I thought that would be the end of bad adaptation of good game. But it just kept coming and coming!!! I dont even know why I bother watching this 4th installment. Its kind of like traffic accident. You dont want to look but you still do it anyway.

Todd Capling (25 April 2012)

Very good !!

Milla is the movie. I would give it a 10, but I think they might haveused more animation of characters than I prefer. The story I thoughtwas brilliant. The plot was thick and the ending was - you'll just have to see it. Milla seems to come alive in this series and this may be her calling. They should start production of the next Resident Evil immediately sothey can take some benefit when all is going so good. If your a Resident Evil fan: by accident like me.. your in for somegreat movies. Milla your the best and hopes you keep it up.I really liked this movie and Knight and Day. Movies that were not liked: Inception and Shutter Island.

Tak (24 April 2012)

This franchise needs to end!

My buddies and I left the theater going OMG that was bad! Milla is not looking young anymore and it is pretty hard to believe in her being a badass when the lower skin on her arm is flapping back and forth everytime she holds a gun up. The way this movie jumped around to different scenes left me wondering "what the hell is going on?" "How did they get there? There was a lot of questions when walking out of the theater.........including, is there any way to get my money back?

3D is FANTASTIC

This review is from: Resident Evil: Afterlife [Blu-ray 3D] (Blu-ray) It's another Resident Evil movie, so no surprises. The movie's good, but the 3D is unbelievable. The beginning of the second scene will blow you away, but that's just one amazing 3D event in this movie. I watched it (multiple times) on a new LG Infinia 55LW6500 3D LED HDTV, and a LG LHB976 Home Theater 3D system. I'm new to 3D and the first few movies I watched were not impressive. This one however blew me away. It's what I show everyone when I want to show off my new system. It's really a must have.
