A mysterious killer video tape is circulating around. One look at this tape and you have seven days left to live. News Reporter Cindy Campbell (Faris) witnesses this video tape and tries to work out a way to prevent her death. But this is not the only mystery to appear. Crop circles have been appearing in the local farm of Tom (Sheen) and George (Rex). With help from Aunt Shaneequa (Latifah), Cindy suspects that the aliens may be linked with the killer tape and must now work out both mysteries before its the end of the world.

The Scary Movie series has gotten very childish, but it's still funny. It spoofs films such as Saw, The Village, The Grudge, Brokeback Mountain, and War of the Worlds. After Tom Logan commits suicide, Cindy Campbell gets a job helping an elderly woman. She slowly begins falling for her new neighbor, Tom Ryan. When aliens that look like the puppet from Saw begin attacking earth, Cindy and Tom split and hope to find each other again. On her journey, Cindy runs into her best friend, Brenda. Together, they try to figure out what Toshio from The Grudge has to do with the aliens, and why they're attacking. I highly recommend SCARY MOVIE 4!!!

Last night, upon an adventure to see Kill Bill Vol. 1, I discovered that I was not of age. So as a back-up plan, a group of friends and I viewed probably one of the most surprisingly humours movies of the year. Let's face facts, Scary Movie was probably the best of the series, the humour was fresh, the plot was something out of the ordinary, and the characters were memorable. Scary Movie 2, removed several characters but kept a majority of the key players from the first movie, and placed them in a new surrounding. This unfortunately was only funny for so long, as half way through the movie, the jokes just started feeling dryer and almost predictable at times. I still laughed, but I felt forced to at times. Because of the second movie, I had low expectations of this film. I thought that the idea of making it 14A (In Canada) was going to take away some of the humour and possibly ruin the franchise, worse than Scary Movie 2 did. As it turns out, this was a very funny movie. The new characters did not take anything away from the plot and the acting wasn't half bad. The physical and gooball humour proved effective this time around. It was actually good to see a funny movie that didn't have word F*** in every sentence. Not to mention the movie was short, so it almost felt like punchline after punchline. I did however miss a few jokes because I was too busy recovering for the "FUNERAL SCENE". Nonetheless, I didn't miss the stoner humour at all. Shorty is funny and all, but only in small doses. Another thing I found great about this movie were the parodies of 8-Mile, The Matrix, and The Ring. The whole Video Tape sequence had to be one of the funniest horror parodies I've ever seen. Considering it was potty humour, I just didn't care. Also, I really enjoyed how the new director had made reference to his old films and used Leslie Neilson in this movie to be his same goofball self. A few things I didn't like as much about this movie were some of the visuals. Don't get me wrong there were decent special effects and cool make up jobs, but the aliens were just crap. They're appearance kinda spoiled the idea they were even supposed to be freaky. I also didn't find myself getting too into this movie from the start, unlike the first two films, there were no real moments of suspense and no real reasons to be too freaked out. Minus a few minutes in the basement scene. There were only like 2 deaths, but then again it wasn't based on any type of movie that went over the top with death scenes. Other than that though, it was a solid effort and I can give them an A for that. Unfortunately I gave this movie a B, because the story was kinda stupid and the aliens looked horrible.

You might as well leave after the opening scene. Pammi is looking better andfuller than ever and she ain't shy about it either. Once she has gone thereisn't much substance left in the film. Just the usual banal gaggs. Itwould've been better if Pammi was playing the lead. Then at least it wouldhave been worth watching for her if for nothing else.

Seriously, this is the crappiest excuse for a comedy I've seen sinceAmerican Pie 3! I should have known it was going to be recycledformulaic one-liners and forced situations when I heard that the WayansBrothers were going to be replaced by the makers of the Naked Gunmovies. The humor, if you can call it that, is the exact same as you'veseen in countless slapstick movies from the 70's and 80's, but thistime they unsuccessfully try to bring it to the youth culture. Theresult is unfunny parodies of the Matrix, 8 Mile, Signs, and so forththat are loosely weaved together by a poor attempt at an ongoing plot. This abysmal excuse for a comedy clocks in at only 80 minutes (whichshould let you know just how much time the makers invested in it) butit felt like it would never end! Trust me, avoid this movie at allcosts, even if it means reading a book!

Let's face it, SCARY MOVIE 2 sucked big time. It didn't just kind ofsuck. It really, really sucked. It was one of the worst sequels ever. For that reason, I wasn't very thrilled to hear that a third SCARYMOVIE was being made, but I decided to check it out anyway since DavidZucker was the director and just like with all David Zucker's previousmovies, this one was hilarious! With one of the best cast of all time, SCARY MOVIE 3 has a lot goingfor it. First off, it spoofs not just horror movies, but crap flickslike 8 MILE as well. Second, it actually has a plot unlike the firsttwo SCARY MOVIE films, and third, it is extremely well paced. Besides being absolutely hilarious, the cinematography is excellent. The movie looks great. It's visually perfect. Can't wait for SCARY MOVIE 4.***/12 out ****

The directors of scary movie 4 have done it again. They manage to make light hearted fun of many different recent release movies, and current events all at one time. The ability to keep brining back some of the same actors (Anna Farris as Cindy, Carmen Electra, Chris Elliot and Regina Hall) keeps some continuity to the themes, and keeps the quirkyness the same. Additional characters such as Shaq, Chingy, "Dr." Phil, Bill Pullman (Henry Hale), Leslie Nielson (Mr. President), and Craig Bierko (as tom ryan) adds fresh perspectives at the comedy. At one time or another, something will make you laugh in this movie. The movies spoofed are The Grudge, SAW and SAW II, War of the Worlds, The Villiage, Brokeback Mountain, and Million Dollar Baby. They also poke fun at Dr. Phil, Oprah, and Tom Cruise. I have to like any movie that rips on Tom Cruise. There were some "gross out" parts that just were old and not funny, but the Alien Ship being an Ipod, and having an "posterior" that shoots lighning, funny placement. Overall worth watching, maybe even owning if you have the rest of the collection.
(03 May 2012)
First warning: if you saw the trailer, some of the best bits are there. The opening, a parody of Saw with Dr. Phil and Shaq, is the funniest bit - and probably one of the funniest things Zucker's done in years. From there, the film is a little light on laughs. Parodies are mostly of Saw, War of the Worlds, the Grudge, and the Village. SM4s greatest asset is the casting. Leslie Nielson has a great moment as the bumbling president and Craig Bierko is almost more convincing as Tom Cruise than the real Tom Cruise is. Kudos are also in order for Chris Elliot as the Village Idiot (Isn't it obvious?). It's stated on the disc that Zucker has rules for spoofing. Unfortunately, the rules are probalby a little dusty, as the formula is getting old, and most of the gags are too dated, obvious, or knee deep in vulgarity. If the franchise is to continue (and as long as Hollywood keeps churning out horror movies of the week, it will), then there needs to be a better formula. SM4 is funny, just a little bit too low on the laughs for repeat viewings. Rent it.

Did anybody ask for another "Scary Movie" ?, I sure didn't. The first moviehad a few laughs, but was quickly forgettable. I didn't even see Vol. II.With the Wayans absent, the directing reins have been given to David Zucker, and new writers have penned the "story", which spoofs "8 Mile" and "TheMatrix Reloaded", among other many others.Too bad this effort is painfully unfunny. When I watch a comedy, all I wantis to laugh.Running a very quick 74 minutes, "Scary Movie 3" made me laughonly once, but the rest of the movie suffers from forced attempts at humorthat made me watch "Life of Brian" afterwards. Even the presence of JennyMcCarthy & Pam Anderson can't save this.Rating: * (out of ****)

Scary Movie 3 (2003, Dir. David Zucker) A mysterious killer video tape is circulating around. One look at thistape and you have seven days left to live. News Reporter Cindy Campbellwitnesses this video tape and tries to work out a way to prevent herdeath. But this is not the only mystery to appear. Crop circles havebeen appearing in the local farm of Tom and George. With help from AuntShaneequa, Cindy suspects that the aliens may be linked with the killertape and must now work out both mysteries before it's the end of theworld. They took a big risk when assigning the third instalment of the 'ScaryMovie' series to David Zucker. It was obviously that fans of the filthyhumour given by the Wayans will not be 100% pleased, but i feel thatthere is actually an improvement in the film than the previous two. Theonly two stars from the previous two films appearing in the secondsequel was Anna Faris (Cindy Campbell) and Regina Hall (Brenda Meeks).Although the characters of them both have slightly changed, it's stilla treat to have them in the film. Joining them is a whole host of starsincluding Queen Latifah, Charlie Sheen and Leslie Nielsen. All of themare a pleasure to see and they all look to be enjoying themselves. Thestory is very flexible just like the other spoof films, but has anoutline which you can easily follow. I feel the jokes are a lot better. The previous two films really seems to rely on sex and filth jokes. Thejokes in this film seem better constructed and are a lot more smarter. The only problem i have with this film is the amount of rap included. The rap contest wasn't bad but the film really could have done withoutthe appearance of them all near the end."It was the chair." - Cindy (Anna Faris) "Yes, the chair." - Aunt Shaneequa (Queen Latifah)

I love this movie. It's spoof off some of my most favorite movies likesigns, lord of the rings, bruce almighty, etc... Charlie Sheen is veryfunny. This is definitely better than the second one and even better thanthe first.9/10One complaint, what does 8 mile have to do with being scary/

...that when you stop worrying about being just plain filthy and startcaring about being funny you make a better comedy. I was not a huge fanof "Scary Movie", although it had it's moments. "Scary Movie 2" wasjust awful. A real disappointment. Then, I was not sure when I saw theWayans weren't returning and the film was rated PG-13 if it would workat all. Finally caught the film last night and I laughed more 5 minutesof this sequel than I did during the others. It was great to see that David Zucker can still make a really funnyparody movie. It was even more refreshing to see an attempt being madeto not just out-gross, out-filth the previous film, and simply focus onmaking a truly funny comedy.

After reading other peoples comments on here i wasn't sure if i wanted togoor not. but i ended up going last night and it wasn't worth the money.Itwas horribly lame. it had to many movies it was trying to spoof. it wasreally bad. the pg13 rating didn't help it if it was like the others itwould had been more quality and would of had better lines but this onejustwent down the drain it sucked.

This movie is okay. However, this movie cannot compare with the first one. For the story, it is okay with no surprise at all. It is pretty decent. For the acting, they are okay but Shaq is the bomb. Others are good. For the story, it is not very good as it can add more movies' scenes. For the direction, it is okay. For the music, this is the best part because it is quite scary. For the sound effect, it is good and very explosive. Overall, this movie is okay. It is recommended to watch this movie.

The Waynes did is good, but Zucker did it better. Me, myself I liked ScaryMovie 1 and 2, but 3 was better. I thought without the Waynes the moviewouldn't be as good, but I was wrong. This movie was very funny, eventhoughit stayed away from most of the race humor I love so much. I'd have to saythis is the best movie in the series. I have few complaints. The Wakescene. That went on way to long. Once George started beating on Brenda's chestandthen took the electric wires to her thats when it went too far. Also, thescene with Nilson as the president beating up the handicap people went toofar. It was funny at first but got out of hand after a while. Now on to theMatrix spoof. Wasn't enough.Queen Latifah as the Oracal and Eddie GriffinasOrpheus was very funny, but there wasn't enough of them. They should havehad a bigger part, but oh well atleast the part they had was funny. My favorite line in the movie is from Eddie. I'm catching smack for womenIhaven't even slept with yet.

There are some really good laughs to be had out of this movie- and somepoints where you have to ask yourself, how the hell did this waste oftime get included in the final cut? I think they could have trimmed 20minutes out of this without blinking. The aliens were uber lame and notfunny, well.. except for the finger. This film relies heavily on you having seen The Ring, The Matrix,Signs, and 8mile to name a few. The target audience is definitely acrowd that can handle gross-out humor and some boobs. If you feel youare too refined for such a venture, take your dried up self and watchan English countryside chick flick about the drama of the burden of itall instead. If you are in a crappy mood, this movie will definitely pick you up. IFyou wanna laugh- watch this- you will laugh! Just not on every skit.

This one is soo the best scary movie. My order of favriote is 4,1,3,2. And there will be a scary movie 5. It says on the cover last of the trilogy as a joke since there are 4 and a trilogy is 3. Also on the cover of scary movie 1 it says no sequal...but there has been 4!

Boo! Did that scare you? Maybe the large amount of horror releases this yeardid. It is just amazing how quickly the American public can go from a periodafter September 11th when all slasher flicks were deemed insensitive to thepresent day when two R-rated blood fests are tops at the weekend box office. It's also amazing to see how quickly the spoof film could go from being ahot commodity to just plain leftovers. Though the genre was invented longbefore the original Scary Movie, this horror spoof regenerated the failinggenre when it grossed $157 million by the end of its run in 2000. A yearlater Scary Movie 2 opened to a less then stellar $71 million end but enoughmoney was made to deem it a success and green light another sequel. But nowthe third film in the series may be the bottom of the barrel as it has had adifficult road to completion with the creators of the franchise dropping outand several false production starts. Will Scary Movie 3 fail at the boxoffice? Not likely with the low production budget, effective marketingcampaign, and enough product placement to cover any a bit of those costs. Then why is this considering the low end of the stick? You have to admitthat the story or lack there of can't get worse. The story  . Well, there really isn't one except for the fact that it spoofsfilms like The Matrix Reloaded, The Ring, The Others, and Signs. But besidesthat fact, there is some small plot trying to squeak through. CindyCampbell, now fresh from college, gets her first big break as a TV newsreporter when strange crops circles appear in the corn fields of farmer TomLogan. In her investigation, she also discovers a videotape that kills itsviewers seven days after they watch it and her nephew is one of them. Cindyis now called up by the president to help prevent an alien invasion and stopof the deaths cause by the mysterious tape. The story for Scary Movie 3,like it was said before, really doesn't exist but when is this never casewith any spoof film? Bottom-line is that the third installment in thehorror-spoof franchise is less consistent with its weak plot then the othertwo films but it comes to these films, you just have to leave your head atthe door. For some movie-goers, that can be easier said thendone. There are plenty of prominent performers in this cast but most of them aremere cameos then featured roles. Anna Faris once again appears as CindyCampbell in the spoof franchise. She obviously has the comedic talent forthese types of films but if she doesn't get out of things sooner or later, she'll be stuck in these roles for the rest of her career. That would bequite unfortunate because Faris clearly has the talent to branch out intoother genres. Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards appear, if not briefly, together in the film but it is Sheen who gets the bigger role. The biggestlaughs of the film came from him especially his battle with Michael Jackson(or at least, a decent look-alike). The biggest disappointments came fromQueen Latifah and Eddie Griffin, who play the Oracle and Orpheus. It wasn'ttheir performances but their lack of appearance in the film that left manyunsatisfied. The two are promoted pretty decently in the trailers andtelevision ads yet they appear less then ten minutes in the entire film.Miramax should ashamed! The opening sequence featuring Pamela Anderson andJennie McCarthy is just pathetic and borders on the line of stupid funny andjust plain stupid. There are many blondes in the world that resent the `dumbblonde' comments  . They must be on the verge of killing these two. Not onebit of their sequence is funny and showcases they can't act even in a spooffeature that doesn't require much acting in the first place.Overall, Scary Movie 3 scares the movie-going audience for all the wrongreasons. Will there ever be an intelligent spoof film or is that justanother pipe dream? Not to say that the film is not funny, it is a largeimprovement from the last Scary Movie feature, but there has to be a betterway to get laughs then relentless slap-stick that gets more annoying thensome of the films it tries to spoof. The running over of the kid gotrepetitive quickly and many of the sequences featuring it could have beenditched. One scene that got a little too provocative featured DarrellHammond as a priest who baby-sits Cindy Campbell's nephew. Though there aremany out there who are not Catholic, there are plenty who will find thesequence insensitive and mean-spirited. In fact, the entire feature ismean-spirited but manages to crack off a few decent laughable moments tomake the film all the less tolerable. If you want intelligent filmmaking, effective humor, a stellar cast, a believable story, and a memorable time atthe movies then this is not your film by a long shot. Scary Movie 3 requiresnothing of the audience but to leave their heads at the door much like thefilmmakers themselves. My Rating: *** out of 5 (Grade: C-)

The film was outrageous, hilarious, amusing and uproarious. The plot wasintact and the directing was perfect. The spoofing was right on target andthecameos were unexpected. SPOILER----I found the part where Queen LatifahandAnna Faris VERY funny, where Cindy sits down and the chair squeaks and theAunt Shanequa sits down and OH it wasn't the chair. My Rating: 9 ½ out of10.

THIS MOVIE WAS HILARIOUS!!!!! I really enjoyed it. The acting was bad, but its a spoof comedy, what do you expect, oscar worthy? The material was pretty stupid, i admit, but it was way too hard not to laugh. THIS WAS BETTER THAT SCARY MOVIE, WHICH WAS BETTER THAN SCARY MOVIE 2. The only problem was, and wasn't too much of a problem in fact beacuse it was made up for, was the lack of explicit-ish sexual jokes because the movie was PG-13. However, the mopvie somehow managed to be funny enough without them. I really enjoy comedy, especially spoof. You will enjoy this movie very much if you have at least a vague idea of idea of what it was spoofing (although this is not completely necessary for total enjoyment) liked any of the austin powers movies, or enjoyed at least one episode of south park or just like comedy and don't need it to be extremely intelligent comedy. Now i want to see all of the movies it spoofs. I already saw 6th sense and the others, now i HAVE to go rent the ring, 8 mile and signs, just to see what the movie was referring to. Oh yeah and matrix as well. well this movie is very enjoyable unless you despise "dumb" comedy or comedy at all. th8is movie is great!!!!! so great i actually wrote a review!! GO SEE IT!!!!!
