A masterpiece considering the lack of story and idea

We all know what Twilight is all about - it's a fiction novel writtenby a woman with no talent or writing abilities.Still, the new Twilight movie was made as good as it was possibleconsidering the fact that the book is unworthy of reading, let aloneecranisation. The plot is very well paced, not too fast, nor too slow, although thereare the usual pathetic one-on-one scenes that drag. Eclipse joins otherTwilight movies in being visually beautiful, with gorgeous scenery and'burned' colors. The soundtrack is also well done, maybe I missed moreindie rock since instrumental and classical pieces prevailed.Acting, well... I didn't expect much anyway. But there was one actorthat simply amazed me with his lack of talent, playing his role like hewas found that day on the street and was paid 100$ to take part of -Jacob. Yes, Taylor Lautner does not know how to act to save his life.Apart from taking his shirt off and looking like a child on horsesteroids, he managed to ruin every scene he was in, specially thescenes when his desperation and anger was suppose to erupt. I haven'tnoticed before how bad he was. Maybe it was due to the fact that inprevious films he had no more than few lines in his scenes. Maybe itwas due to the fact that his nudity distracted me. Anyway, he's verybad. Very.Robert and Kirsten are usually numb, they are probably both bored anddon't really try. Kirsten is a tad better than in the past few movies, she doesn't breathe as much and smiles here and there. What is also new in Eclipse, was the amount of erotic/kissing scenes.Almost everyone was sucking the life out of each other as soon therewas even the slightest chance. There are a few very good humorous scenes, well done, with word playsor interesting situations.Summa summarum, Eclipse is the best Twilight movie so far, with minimalamount of cheesy dialogues and unnecessary romantic scenes. I wouldeven call it a masterpiece since I've read the books and know thattheir substance is lack of brain, talent or writing abilities. So yes, they have made it as good as they possibly could. It does not getbetter for Twilight than this. All the negative reviews you will read, just ignore them. The Twilightfranchise itself is not cinematography's peak accomplishment, but thisis a good Twilight film. Do not expect Dark knight, but do not expectDracula 3000 either.

Don't Bother

I've seen the first two movies of the Twilight Saga so I knew what Iwas expecting but far out this film was atrocious..bad acting, actionscenes were terrible and the whole thing just stunk. I guess if your'ea teenage girl aged 11-15 this would be suitable but for any adult thisfilm should seriously be avoided..you can tell this is targeted at teenaudiences that's for sure young attractive cast, emo love story gonewrong e.t.c, I was left feeling like I just wasted 124 mins of my lifethe dialogue lacked enthusiasm and half the time the actors just lookedlike they just didn't want to be in the movie. Put this saga to restbefore any more minds are poisoned

Worst of the series. This movie was made to make money, save money, and for young children and old adults who like obvious scripts better than clever scripts.

I'll keep it simple; The acting is worst and better at the same time.Making me dizzy. They added a sprinkle of comedy, when I thought it's strength wasdarkness. To make it worst it's somewhat feels like 3rd party comedy, which meansthat people in the movie's own world wouldn't get it because it's aboutthis world...boy jokes about Joseph and Edward for example. This was hyped to have more action when in fact in did not, and when itdid it was even more cheesy and artificial than before. Example...thevampires bursting into stone by getting punched? Cartoon anyone? In thetrailer I got this idea like it was gonna be a mega blockbuster, sinceit will prob be the biggest movie of the year, and there was nofighting in the big city like I thought, or any crazy blockbusterstuff. The Vulturi. They really didn't do anything. I thought their would be abig fight scene with them and everything. I was hoping they would havea big chunk of the movie and they didn't.And last but not least. She chose Edward....and I noticed some girlscry because their team didn't win.A real shame. How do you please both teams?

"Frozen means never moving forward..."

The third installment of the vampire movie series, Twilight Saga: Eclipse returns where the New Moon left off. Tensions have now mounted between the three main characters Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob (Taylor Lautner). As viewers will see the differing relationships have escalated to enormous heights in the form of the love triangle that trickles within the other subplots and characters of the film, the rise of the gang-like vampires the "new borns," and the continuing problem that arose during the second film that involved the Volturi, the royal element to the vampire hierarchy who are easily identifiable with their cloaks, blood-red eyes, and somewhat sinister presence. But for the most part, the majority of the scenes in Eclipse involve the unique quality of vampire romance and the entanglement that Bella has gotten herself into between Edward and Jacob. There is no denying that the competitiveness exists with the characters that come in the form of a combination of tongue in cheek and snide remarks from Edward and Jacob, but throughout the ordeal, Edward has the advantage because he has the power to read Bella and Jacob's mind as well as play mind tricks on anyone he encounters. But as with the first and second films, Edward represents chivalry and virtuous traits of a by gone era, and emphatically tells Bella, "when things were less complicated." And the other interesting aspects of the film that attempts to introduce two other members of the film associated with the Cullen clan and their ties to their vampire origins that also involved romantic issues, Jasper Hale (Jackson Rathbone), a Texas Cavalry officer during the Civil War who fell for the beautiful Vampiress (Monique Ganderton) and Rosalie Hale (Nikki Reed) who after a bad romance, has become an overprotective and vengeful vampire when anyone crosses her path. These themes and issues are essential and show what may be in store for Bella if and when she enters the vampire realm. In spite of the hype and the mania that has accompanied the film, Eclipse is entertaining and enlightening. The characters may or may not grow on viewers, but with all of the action packed scenes and the beautiful landscapes, there is bound to be a part of the film that will entice viewers.

Really?

Is this what passing for acting these days. Robert(Edward) is supposedto be a vampire right not a statue that talks. Bella is the best actorin this movie, which isn't say much. I don't like hating on movie butcome on. No one likes the twilight series one person liked it then itspread like wildfire. Every gets caught in fads. Everyone knows thereis going to be another movie just like this cause movie executive arerealizing that this vampire junk draws attention. Now every show hasvampires in it. Thank you Twilight for that. This is just a sequel withterrible actors that every girl is going to drag their man and punishthem by making watch this. Please don't give in to them don't see thismovie

A fun movie to watch for the twilight series fans!!

I have read the books, and the first thing I noticed was that the storywasn't about a plot line at all. It's about the characters and what'sgoing on with them. Stephenie Meyer focuses on interaction, not ondialog, plot, or setting, which is fine. But it makes for a bad movie.Surprisingly, Twilight wasn't that bad of a series. I expected it to bemuch worse. As I said, there's very little plot or dialog in the book,so it's hard to make a convincing film. They had to over act looks totry and communicate without many words. I could probably count on onehand the lines in the movie.Other than the over acting, it wasn't bad. There were some very goodmoments and some very "eh" moments. But overall I would recommend it toTwilight Series fans. But if you see it in the theater, go during atime when all the little junior high and high school girls are inclass; your eardrums will thank you for it. And I swear I lost ten IQpoints just listening to them.

Granny loves the Twilight Saga

This review is from: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Special Blu-ray/DVD Single-Disc Edition) (Blu-ray) After reading all the books, my favorites were the first one, Twilight, and the last - Breaking Dawn. The movies, however, have evolved one by one with script, makeup and special effects. I was disappointed in the makeup and some of the effects in Twilight. New Moon was much better with the effects and not so chalky with the makeup. Eclipse is the next evolution and definitely the best yet. The casting of Taylor Lautner as Jacob is one of the best choices ever. I thought that even the first time we saw him in Twilight and he has grown with the part. (Kudos to Taylor for beefing up to fit the part so well!) In Eclipse, there is more action (Victoria's newborn army) as well as more romance as Bella and Edward have a night to themselves in the Cullen house. The highlight scene of the movie for me was the tent scene in which Edward and Jacob have a very candid conversation about their feelings while Bella sleeps, warmed against the freezing cold by the "hot" werewolf's body. I can't wait to see how they handle Breaking Dawn!

great translation from the book

This review is from: Twilight Saga: Eclipse BD combo [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) The third installment of the movie, was a great translation from the book. as good as the original, almost. But i would say its a better movie than New moon. If you like the Book you'll like this, and vice versa.

Let Down

This review is from: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Two-Disc Special Edition) (DVD) I was very disappointed with this movie. It seemed like they just threw it together to get it out on the market sooner. The quality of acting seemed to go downhill too, all the actors seemed bored.

Decisions, decisions

"I know the consequences of the choices you're making." Edward toIsabellaAlthough more fight action is apparent in the change from the lastsequel (New Moon, 2009), to the new Twilight Saga: Eclipse, it is afilm in eclipse—the story is so slow as to make you feel drained ofblood, Kristen Stewart (Bella) has even fewer expressions than inprevious Twilights, Taylor Lautner (Jacob) seems to have gone from asix pack to a four, and Robert Pattinson (Edward) is less James Deanthan when he never had a chance to be like him anyway. In other words, this slow tale of teenage vampires and werewolves inheat has too little heat, but rather is in its own twilight. Theclose-ups of the brooding teens have proliferated, to the extent that Ihave memorized Edward's mouth (or lack thereof), Bella's drooping eyes, and Jacob's overly-white teeth. All my memorization occurs because Ineeded to stay awake during the dullest scenarios since, well,Twilight. Actually I called that one "enjoyably overcooked." This oneis underdone.Eclipse has an increased emphasis on teenage uncertainty: Bella mustdecide who she wants to be, human or vampire (a variation of the film'sexistential subtext), whether or not to marry Edward, and how much sheloves Jacob, more specifically, can she love two boys at once. It'sauthentic teen dilemma centered on fitting in with the crowd and theopposite sex. To the film's credit, she and Edward postpone sex untilafter marriage because Edward is "old school" about those matters (asopposed to killing piles of animals each night to sustain his 100year-old body). When Edward proclaims to Bella, "Isabella Swan, I promise to love youevery moment of forever," I have the feeling it's a warning to me thatat least two more sequels are being planned. I guess that's why thevampires and their movies seem to last so long—the undead and theTwilight continue to suck blood out of pop culture.

Thanks David Slade.

Compared to Twilight and New Moon, Eclipse was GREAT! I know its verypredictable and slow moving but it was first a book and what more canyou expect? (its not harry potter.) I thought The acting between Roband Kristen was much more relaxed and natural. The kissing scenesdidn't sound like they were in pain either which is a big step. I wasalso pleased with the content in the movie...I don't think they leftout anything what was crucial to the plot of the future movies or thatjust really need to be in there. One thing I was disappointed in wasthe Rosalie told her story. In the book she takes the initiative andgoes to Bella and explains that she doesn't hate but just doesn'tunderstand her desire to be frozen in time. It was okay I suppose butthey also could have shown a bit more of her story too, being that isthee only time she gets to be known in the books/ movies. But overall Ithought David did a wonderful job.

Too Much Twilight and Moon in Eclipse

More of the same. Serious wooing and cooing on screen, yearning in theaudience; the man-sized CGI wolves still look unconvincing and cheesy;their human counterparts still roam the woods predominantly shirtless(why is that, by the way?); Bella still can't decide between the hotvampire and the hot lycan and takes her father for a nincompoop (okay,in some ways he is); the Cullen clan is still too good to be real (oralive); the Volturi are still evil vampires...but this time around theycreated an army of newborns, recently turned bloodsuckers ready torumble. So we finally get a battle good vs. evil - all within the PG-13confinement, of course. That's the one thing we haven't seen in"Twilight" or "New Moon," all the other goings-on in this installmentare strictly by the book (and I don't mean the novel, though I think itwould apply). But Kristen Stewart is so good as the brooding heroineand the photography is stunningly beautiful, so this kind of makes itworth your while. A warning: All the protagonists are flawlesslypretty, so when you leave the theater be prepared to fondle theinferiority complex you grew while watching the film.

Jacob or Edward???

This review is from: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse [Blu-ray] (HESITATION) (Blu-ray) The movie is great but for all who have read the books you know there's more fight and action in it.

Mildly entertaining Vampire Drama without Vampires

This the third in the Twilight movie series I found strangelyentertaining but it does not mean it is a good movie. It is ONLY a twohour movie (thank God!) but it was noticeable how many people madetoilet trips 'during' the movie. It entertained me because I managed tostay awake for the whole two hours in expectation that somethinginteresting would happen. If I recall from the second movie New Moon, didn't Edward promise tomarry Bella at the end of the movie? This latest movie wastes too muchtime exploring the delinquent emotions of a confused teenage girlcalled Bella who cant make up her mind whether she wants to spend herlife with a vampire called Edward or a werewolf called Jacob, we cantblame her Father for wanting to protect her (he is a police officerafter all) and for her Mother wanting to keep a distance (far away inFlorida the story would have us believe). The special effects of Jacob in particular as a werewolf is compellingif only for that but let us then remind ourself that this is not'chronicles of narnia' or indeed 'incredible hulk' and I wasparticularly amused with the lack of clothing worn by all when theywere all up at the top of a snow-capped mountain, gosh it must havebeen cold mustn't it? The Voltari offered the only real story to themovie and this was not exploited enough in the movie for an adultaudience. An opportunity was missed. Clearly within the story there was'a vampire outbreak' in Seattle and the Voltari were called upon tosettle it - but of course the rivalry between the Vampires and theWerewolfs created a decision conflict with the Voltari which focusedaround Bella as a woman for revenge because Edward had killed theboyfriend of the 'red haired woman) in the first Twilight movie. This was just a movie for teenagers to 'woon and swoon' and not more. Iconcur that the young lady playing Bella and the guy playing Jacob havelimited acting ability. I disagree with the negativity about RobertPattinson whom I feel gave a genuine acting performance. He hasdefinitely improved and you should compare his performance here withthat in the delightful 'Remember Me' where the triangle with amysterious woman and a father who is law enforcement is relative.Watch it at your peril! Mums and Dads, be prepared with your popcornand soft drinks and don't miss the 'funny bits' like the snow scenewhich make this movie even remotely watchable as an adult. Kids, its'comic entertainment' transferred to the big screen.

One of the worst Hollywood adaptations of such a classic novel

first things first you will b disappointed whether you have read thenovel or not,its better if you have not because it will make you feelmore sorry for the classic novel, the third in installment of thetwilight saga, but don't give second thoughts to reading the book if youare judging it by the movie, well the movie is too rushed for the firstthing and I thought they will utilise the time to showcase the battlein an epic manner, I was really looking forward to it but mostlydud.Plot has been twisted everywhere ,seems like they were keen onripping the soul out of the terrific plot the novel offers, the crucialpoints in the plot like Bella finally figuring out Victoria'sinvolvement were all dealt with so casually like they were not even inthe plot, and I cant even guess why's Riley given so much screen timewhen not required and his role all cut in the fight, man where was Sethripping him in parts.Even the dialogs were pathetic leading to all thewrong conclusions.Quileute legend,Rose's story and Jasper's telling ofthe newborns's enemies were really the worst part.Seems like there wasno plot at all, even background scores were not as gud as previousones. So why would you go watch it,well for all the beautiful males andfemales,Esme is stunning ,Rosalie somewhat down,Jasper was morebeautiful in previous movies without the new hairdo, chemistry betweenEdward and Bella is something you can look fwd to,Carlisle n Jake areagain very good at what they do,Jane's screen tym cud have been easilyedited without affecting plot.well what I would recommend is that ifyou r a Twilight-hard fan nothing will stop you from going for it butyou will be very much disappointed n well for others its very muchavoidable, hope breaking dawn has have some luck with justice to it

r-hatcher321 (07 May 2012)

I will return to see it!!

Loved all of it! Was disappointed when it ended! Kristen's wig wastough at times...but the director compensated by the close ups, catching her lovely features and expressions. The team seemed to getthe wig right the majority of the time. Kristen is naturally lovely andrefreshing. Taylor stepped up his delivery and seemed deeper in hisacting with this installment. It was very nice to have Pattinson in thewhole movie! His resolve of unconditional love for Bella is Lessons inclass, value, and virtue is nice in this casual sex saturatedculture...what a concept! The fight scenes are amazing! They fit withinthe PG13 setting. It's clear the director was limited in expressionthere. It was interesting how the vampires were shown to break apart. Ithought the throw a match on one of them silly. That should have beenbetter thought out. However, Bryce Howard delivered a great, tho brief, performance. Loved her interactive scene with Edward. Go Bryce! Rileywas brilliant. They should def bring Xavier Samuel back for BreakingDawn perhaps sporting a mustache and curly hair as a differentcharacter. He is excellent!

Terrible, Not worth the time.

I will never understand how movies as horrible as this one get so manyawards it doesn't deserve. I love the books, massive fan of them. Thissequel has been the worst sequel of any book I have ever seen. The whole way through this Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) looksangry. Even when he does smile he still looks it. Kristen Stewart can'tact, we all know that, every time she's on the screen in this sequel,it looks like she doesn't want to be there. All the characters/actorsbore me to tears. Billy Burke (Charlie Swan) is probably the only one Ienjoy in any of the films. His humor is funny. The rest of the actorshad poor performances, showing no real emotion as they do in the books. Why can't the plot be straight out of the book. I know they need to cutstuff out but don't CHANGE IT.The movie wasn't great, I watched it in a cinema, peoplelaughing/commenting on the acting skills that clearly aren't there.Eclipse is about the love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob plusVictoria still after vengeance. I don't think there was one good scenein the whole thing, which showed how underdone this movie was. Bellalooked as though she didn't even have more than the two expressions. Tobe honest I thought the movie was never going to end. It just keptgoing and bored me the more I watched it. I wouldn't waste my time watching this.

Kah Wai (06 May 2012)

Not bad!

The special effects are considerably well improved, ranging from the vampire's ability to sparkle in the sunlight to the impressive climactic battle between CG werewolves and live-action characters. The background setting of the film has also progressed, moving further away from school grounds to a much more scenic view of forests, mountains and vast fields of flowers.Overall, the actors' performances were not too shabby as they've been with the characters for a while now. Dominating "Best Film" at the MTV Movie Awards for two years in a row, this vampire romance flick franchise will have fans supporting it no matter what, given its strong fan base and will continue until the upcoming two-part "Breaking Dawn" finale.

Who's to Blame?? (No spoilers)

Having read the complete saga, including the Bree Tanner novella, I was looking forward to the adaptation of my favorite book in the series. Until I saw it. Let's start, as all movies do, with the screenplay. What was good was the additions of events outside of the Bella centric universe - the goings on in Seattle. What was not good was most of the first half hour, which felt like short attention span theater of disjointed sound bites from the novel. If I didn't know these books, it would leave me scratching my head, trying to figure out where this was headed. There were things that, if this were true to the characters, would never have happened. Fortunately, it picks up once there is a plot - awareness and reaction to the vampire army. The continuity improves, as does the pacing and relevance.Acting - these kids are better than most people give them credit for. This is camp, and they are playing to that. Don't forget that! Pattinson's American accent is finally believable. Jackson Rathbone gets to show he can act, and he has some chops - he carried the scenes where he was the focus of the action extremely well. But my favorite this time around was Xavier Samuel as Riley. His part called for a wide range of skill, and he delivered. Except for one excruciating moment......and that brings us to special effects. It wasn't Xavier's fault that his performance was upstaged by a special effect so cheap and unprofessional I couldn't stop laughing. No matter what a movie aspires to, it needs to be handled evenly. You can't have high level CGI and other effects in one scene and scrimp on others. It may have cost all of $2 to create an effect, but it better look like you spent thousands in a movie expected to do this kind of box office. But where we lost the most was in the direction. We lose Bella's inner monologue and gain action. Not that I care much about the inner workings of Bella's mind, but this is supposed to be her voice, like it or not. I felt like this movie was taken hostage and robbed of the female voice. Instead, we get a guy focus. The secret to this franchise is the empathy the viewer has with Bella and her situation. And that guy focus is not always done well. I couldn't help but compare this to the A-Team and it comes up short on almost every measure. What happened to knowing your demographic? The first movie clearly didn't have a blockbuster budget - it felt like it was making do with what they had. The second had to contend with the weakest book in the series. This one should have been a home run and it's not. If only Weitz could have been the director for this one, because he clearly understands his audience, his source material, and most importantly, how to tell a story. Most telling is the fact that I'm not terribly interested in seeing this in the theater a second time. I will see movies I like more than once, but this is definitely one I won't anti-up again at the box office.
